I love this song, I especially like Kazakh songs, both romantic and traditional with that modern touch that Dimash gives to them. I am taking a good part of my spare time very seriously to learn Kazakh. It's a beautiful language, with deep phonetics, very sonorous, and very rich linguistics. It's hard but I'm not going to stop until I can master it at least to a level where I can understand and feel first hand the Kazakh songs that Dimash sings. For me it is very important, he has brought such a bliss, so much joy to my life and I want to enjoy it to the fullest.

This is Dimash's first Kazakh pop song. It makes a great lively part of his concert 3 plus hour concerts. He just uploaded his September mega concert "Stranger" to his RUclips channel. Take a look once the English subtitles are added. Shouldn't be too much longer. Absolutely magnificent concert. 3.5 hrs uploaded in 3 parts. 35000 fans from 68 countries from all over the world flew into Almaty Kazakhstan for the concert. Many stayed for a week or more touring Dimash's many filming locations, his schools, his birth home, etc. Kazakhstan tv channels had a field day interviewing the Dears before the oncert. Dimash's concert was sold out yet there were hundreds of people standing outside the stadium to listen to Dimash since they couldn't get tickets.

Mr. Harris, thank you for your reaction. Dimash is singing in 14 languages, including English. It would be nice if people in USA, especially young people, come out of the bubble of the American music and start listening to foreign music and lyrics. They're missing out on so much ! Try to train people to be more open minded and educated in universal music and the beauty of different cultures and languages.

A lot goes down to cultural differences i think especially misunderstandings. As Dimash said in his speech on that peace event: its important and natural to have ones own culture but we also have to accept the others in their culture.
It would be great for Dimash do be more known in the US but its not a must have. He is fine the way he is. Its not his los if the US mainstream does not listen to his music. And also its absolutely not necessary for him to sing in english especially as his kasakh songs are so beautiful.

I listened to your explanation of why you didn’t have the time to watch the entire Dimash video. And he didn’t make the list you were talking about. Thanks for pointing that out. You also said you are doing “everything” you can to get his name out there. Doesn’t it make sense to show his video, which was in English, to people who might not know him. It was a very emotional video. Even though he started this three years ago, it is very current today(sadly). Putting this out there for the US fans(of yours)might have caught the attention of more people from the US if given a little explanation first. You chose what you decided to do. It seems like you spent more time talking about todays video??? Was that to pacify Dimash fans? I’ve read some of the comments. No one seems to care about this..but it was an obvious thing. It all goes back to “I’m trying everything” to get Dimash’s name out
there”. Making sure to point out the list of top singers he wasn’t on. You don’t need to gush over Dimash, as you did in this video. Just be fair. The “Under One Sky” video was worth a few more minutes of your time. Other reactors have managed to get through the whole thing. I think many of your reactors looked forward to what you would have to say..if you had watched it.

About the rolling stone article, its more of a balance of cultural impact in the US and vocals. Its a likely explanation, although it doesn't cover everybody excluded. Celine Dion wasn't even in the list and she certainly checks those boxes off. If Dimash gets more popular in the US I do think he might have a chance at those kind of articles.

    • @gdouglas999
      @gdouglas999 Год назад +2

Even as one of Dimash's most passionate Dears, I'm going to offend a lot of people here by saying that I understand why Celine Dion was not on that list. I agree with those who think her voice is thin, rather ordinary and sometimes (for me) just plain annoying. She sings beautiful songs but her voice pales in comparison with others. Ever compare her version of "Power of Love" with Laura Branigan's? That comparison says it all.

You're a cool dude, Mr. Harris!😎 I agree with you that Zhalyn may be catchier than Be With Me, insofar as it's a much shallower composition, video & arrangement, & probably more the type of thing that goes over in the (shallow) clubs. But Be With Me is in English, so in that respect might go over better than this, at least with English speaking clubbers. But surely you must agree that BWM is by far the superior song, in every respect?!! With the Quincy/S. Wonder-style horn arrangement, the more varied parts in the song, the weird & cool stuff they did with the groove & BG vocals during the fight sequence, etc. It's vastly superior IMO. This is just a little groove, the melody in the verse does take an unusual turn, but that's about it. Yeah, unfortunately many might find this catchier - not that I don't like this, I do! It's just not in the league of BWM musically.

I'm sorry to tell you that Dimash Qudaibergen is not on the Rolling Stones 200 best singers of all times list, which means that for that selection they were not based at all on the vocal quality of the artists, not even on the interpretative one. I seems they were based, at least globally, on the discography, on the popularity and on parameters based merely on the mercantile and the propagandistic subjects, but not so much on the cultural or musical quality. And I don't know what list of singers that is when btw Celine Dion is not there either.

It's too bad that people have to have a certain style of song to "break into" the America music scene. Doesn't that sort of indicate that our music is way too much the same and needs some spicing up and variety in it? I hope Dimash doesn't just make it in the west with his "pop" songs but that his other songs will be successful here too. (Personally I think his non-pop songs are his best ones.)

@@butterflyb.9135In that list they included singers from Europe such as Pavarotti, Rocío Durcal or Rosalía among others from "old continent" as well. However, they omitted Rocio Jurado, Antonio Molina, Mirielle Mathieu and Edith Piaf and those are "unforgivable" omissions. They even omitted the Peruvian Yma Sumac, the biggest in the world before Dimash appeared. They also ignored Johnny Mathis who is from the United States. If they were going to make a list of the greatest singers of all time, they should at least have made it longer. Or that the ones you selected were more cultured because that list denotes a great ignorance and even bad taste in music if we see the places where they were located.

I appreciate everything you said. Dimash is coming to America to study, so it would be necessary to do as much as possible for his recognition. Otherwise, it is the case that whoever does not know him is his misfortune, maybe he is not destined according to karma. But that doesn't mean we won't be active fans. I believe that not enough people know him in America, and even hoping that Dimash will be among the first on the list as GOUT is a big challenge for his fans.
BTW, check out his version at the Almaty concert for your own enjoyment, it's really worth seeing because it's live.

@GrannyRalls no, the people who throw tantrums leave a bad taste in the mouth, no matter what their reasons are. Snide remarks, personal insults etc that are flung at reactors by people who justify the actions as being "in support of Dimash" doesn't represent me or the majority of Dears. They simply can't be bothered to reply because they know they will have those same rude people hound them for days, as you showed in the first reaction.
It's the same with the people who go on the warpath when the word lip sync is used.
I have never, ever heard Kanat, Sveta, Marat, Dimash or anyone associated with them jump to his defence, much less being rude to anyone.
I will NOT get into a conversation with you about this again because I had made my point clear. Your handle name is Granny so I'm going to assume that you're older and wise enough to know when to stop.
