The big market/small market divide isn’t growing because of the TV deals, though that doesn’t help. It’s growing because with expanded playoffs and revenue sharing, many owners are happy to pocket profits and do the minimum necessary to sneak into the playoffs and cross their fingers.
You guys talked a bit about Roki's extension, but you might be missing something... From BP's Harry Pavlidis: "FYI Roki Sasaki's extension didn't change by a foot. Some NPB parks installed Hawk-Eye, and they more accurately capture the moment of release than Trackman. It's nothing but a change in tooling--Trackman picks up the release point prematurely under a lot of circumstances."
Yes. We covered this in the story Geoff Pontes wrote today at BaseballAmerica.com. There's some ambiguity on this. Trackman sometimes changes extension, but it's not a 100% that it happens. The extension changes may in part be a Hawkeye artifact, but it also from Geoff's work does appear his release point changed a little, and his fastball did not play as well in 2024.
Sasaki to the Pirates is Ohtani to Angels 2.0. Just send the guy to purgatory, why don’t ya. And, Pirates fans DEFINITELY deserve Sasaki, however the Pirates ownership does not. They’ll just waste his talent on a middling team at best with one of the worst and least dedicated organizations in baseball. Enjoy those empty seats and revenue sharing, Nutting.
I would love to see Sasaki in Giants, Padres or Tigers uniform. Giants because thats the team i grew up cheering for and still do, Padres because I hate the Dodgers and San Diego is a great location for Sasaki, lastly the Tigers because they have the best pitching coach in MLB. Touching on the innings pitched concern, for two gentlemen that work for Baseball America and probably been around baseball for a while and maybe played a little bit, but to hear you ramble about innings pitched being an issue or concern is really sad. Baseball players know and understand its not the amount of innings or pitches someone throws, its the intent in which the ball is thrown. If it was amount of balls thrown or innings, then you would see a case of catchers all around the world having Tommy John a few times before signing contracts.
Good Job, you took the most interesting news in baseball and somehow turned that into the most boring vanilla video ever made. Nearly fell asleep. How/why does anyone pay for Baseball America?
@@baseballamerica There was something advanced about this video? Nothing I learned here I didn't already know from some other video or article. A random redditor could have come up with similar "advanced" knowledge in this video.

Good stuff gentlemen
I agree with Geoff in that timing of this suggests Sasaki is probly signing with Dodgers, and soon
Thanks
Excellent work. I’m def gonna click “SUBSCRIBE” next time I’m pay-walled on one of your articles! 🤣
Where will Trevor Bauer sign?
lol
Joey "I've got a great business idea but it's really horrible" Ingrahm. LOL

He gonna look good in a yankees uniform
Cant believe no mention of the Padres who are probably the 2nd favorite team to sign him
We have them in the thumbnail. The Padres are among the logical candidates as well.
@@baseballamerica Create a thumbnail with nearly 1/3 of the league and talk about dodgers for 1/2 the video. "Logical candidate"
@@phil4006Bow down 🤡
They’re the second favorite like I would be in a 2-man race with Tyreek Hill.
Little brother syndrome
Guardians definitely
Definitely what?
@ i think Sasaki should sign with Cleveland. Best pitching development in the MLB. Plus we need Starting pitching depth.
If he wants to be the best pitcher possible he should go to the rays, they'd get his fastball back to it's '23 self and add some ridiculous cutter.
I think its good he brought his velocity down. Safer for his health
Boston Red Sox🙏
They don’t check many of the boxes. Stability. Comfort. Lifestyle. Etc
@@EM-cz4rd Right cuz you asked him huh?🤡
@@Phobia115 Don't need to ask him. His camp already put that out there dummy. Now you know!!

We know we're not for every fan. We're for the advanced fan who wants to dig deeper. If that's not you, that's fine. Have a great day.

@@phil4006nonsense. I’ve watched probably 20 videos on Sasaki and this was by far the best.
