      I remember I was upset and confused when Doug Collins was suddenly fired. It happened after the draft. Rumor has it when Collins met with Krause/Reinsdorf to be informed of his firing he thought he was getting a contract extension:). The Bulls got that right with Phil Jackson. Jackson with the triangle offense got others involved.

    • @adaonetube
      @adaonetube 2 месяца назад

      @@edwingustilo6594 Yes, stats don't lie. However, if you watch carefully the Bulls offense under Doug Collins it was too much Jordan in isolation and everyone else standing around. When Phil Jackson was hired and used the triangle offense there was waaay more ball movement and everyone was involved in the offense. Ironically, Jordan's concern was that his scoring average was going to go way down with the triangle offense but it actually did not. Jordan still lead the league in scoring in every championship season.

    MJ - the greatest. At the time, that wasn’t decided. Yet everyone knew he was special. IT - and the thugs, as the Pistons were known then in the 80s was in a class of his own. Under his leadership, the Pistons bested the Celtics and the Lakers to become champions. They were skilled, physically rough and unapologetic. They put as many elbows in your face as points on the board. In the 80s, you had to beat IT and his bad boys. The ball had to be taken from them. MJ - the warrior, did just that. He was poetry in motion. He was a ruthless assassin in basketball shoes. He was perfection - the ever elusive desire of us lesser beings - the kind that makes us imagine and dream. He dreamed, imagined and achieved.

      But, with the exception of Hodges (6-12) and Paxson(4-6), Jordan had no help. His team looked like the G League out there. Cartwright was, well, Cartwright. Had one of the all-time ugliest shooting forms.

And it only makes sense as he averaged over 42 minutes per game during the playoff run with all 3 series being very physical and competitive. And it didn't help that Pippen was injured in the first minute of the game and didn't play during the rest of the contest. Jordan shot free throws at an 83.5% average over his career. So,bthe ENTIRE "offense" was Jordan come down the court and shoot it EVERY time. If that didn't work, Jordan does a palm dribble and stutter step and jumps into a back pedaling defender and gets a foul. If he didn't get the call and gets hung up in the air, THEN, and only then would he pass. No wonder the Piatons wiped the floor with that GARBAGE team.

    Detroit Piston has a loaded team compared to the Chicago Bulls; that's why they won the game and were Champions in 89 and 90. Until MJ has developed and improved his supporting cast and won three-peat, 91, 92, and 93, Then 96, 97, and 98, That's why he's the G.O.A.T.

  • @TellenJones
    @TellenJones Год назад +23

    Thomas always had the more loaded team, even in the year he got swept by Bulls, so I don't blame Jordan for losing to Pistons a lot. In 88, Pistons had Thomas, Dumas and Dantly, 3HOFers. In 89 & 90, Dantly was gone but Aguirre joined and Rodman matured into DPOY and became an all star. All Jordan had during those years was an under-development Pippen. Once Pippen matured in 90s, there's no looking back. In 91 Bulls with only 2 HOFers in Jordan & Pippen swept Pistons w/ 3 HOFers in Thomas, Dumas and Rodman. And there goes the myth that Jordan never beat a super loaded team.

Just saying picking clips doesn't show the the whole game even though you stayed Fair on both ends, it was way more lopsided in real life up until the 91 series. Detroit who got robbed of a three-peat by the Lakers in 88 we're unstoppable for those years.
