Gold lamé trim gets us all eventually 😂 one of my more recent projects was a cape for my little dragonet made from an old army blanket, when choosing a binding he went straight for the gold 😂
Cute! Even with all the setbacks they came out so good! Maybe you can paint after the binding if you do the gold trim hack again. *Lol also guilty of getting the gold lamé tape. So shiny! But I haven't used it because I had the same misgivings. Maybe as like a faux piping but flat. Not sure what that's called.
Thank you!! That's a good idea! On the bias tape--I think my big mistake was cutting it. It was fraying all along the cut edge. Probably would have been better in tact, though I think I'd still have had issues. (I'm not sure what that's called, either 😆)
I appreciate when you show the whole process - especially the whoopsies, mistakes, and regrets. Seeing how you work through and problem-solve around those setbacks and challenges is so freaking helpful! Your finished costumes are *chef's kiss* AND OMG FLOTSAM AND JETSOM! 😍😍
I'm so glad that it's helpful for you! I always wonder whether I'm oversharing, so it's great to have that feedback! And thank you so much! And congrats on making it to the end to see Flotsam and Jetsom 🤣🤣🤣
What do you mean? Of course I'm having fun knitting/sewing/embroidering/crocheting. Yelling? That's just a part of the process. It's still fun. I swear, please ignore the throbbing vein and harsh swear words. It's fine, it's fun. Promise. Really.
Yup! I sure did! It's amazing what you can do with some felt and a couple of pipe cleaners 😂😂😂 I made the Flotsam and Jetsam sock puppets, too, to go with my Ursula costume.
May I ask a detail about the construction of the stays? As someone who also has a chest, how is it actually supporting you? You’re not squishing out the top, but it looks like the curve of your bust is greatly reduced from when you are wearing a tshirt?? How are the bubbies supported?? Am mystified. Sorry if that’s a weird question, lol. Also laughing at you showing off the tootsies for free! 😅
Not weird at all! Legit question. So the front of the stays is fully boned, and there is boning on the side front to help support the bust, as well. There's supposed to be a busk in the center front, but I opted out of that so I could wash them. You're right in that it sort of compresses me down, but not in a way that physically feels noticeable. Unlike later styles, this has a considerably higher neckline, so part of it is just that they're completely covered. Not so much about the cleavage in this era 😆 So it's not so much about lifting as like...cradling? That sounds weird 😂 But they ARE quite supportive, very comfortable, to the point that I would go for a jog in them. Unlike my Regency stays 🙄
AHHHH. Ok that totally makes sense…And doesn’t sound that awful? Hmmm. I totally watched the video where you did your run in those stays and I was really happy and sad for you all at once. 😂😂😂 Thank you so much for replying and answering so thoroughly!!!
that is so my problem. oooh, sparkly. it'll be fine. then I'm curled up in a corner crying when I have to work with it. one day,I will curb my magpie. You actually look pretty cool as Ursula! my favorite little mermaid is the cartoon. it's just childhood memories. same with all the live actions. so what beer are you drinking? has busy season ended for you yet? do you have a PO box? yay, pokey tools🔪🔪🔪 ❤❤❤ labyrinth. looking awesome. though red hair doesn't really suit you. nit like that, anyway. damn it, what were there names??? that's going to bug me now.
Hah! Thanks. Ursula is basically my natural state, so I'm glad it works 😂 I'm pretty partial to the Disney animated version, too, it's one of my all time favorites! If you couldn't tell by the vast amount of costumes I had already lying around! 🤐 Busy season has ended, and I'm slowly recovering! No PO box, sadly, but I'll let you know if that changes! I don't remember precisely what beer I was drinking, but it was by a local craft brewery here called 512.
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming it definitely works for you!! Really, never would of guesses🤣. I'm glad your busy season has ended now and you can chill out a little. Not too much, or you wouldn't be you. Yes, let us know if you do get one. It would be helpful (for you) of I could send you something🤔. I love craft beer. Or I used to. Damn body has decided it can't handle wheat now. So I have to be careful.

LOLOLOL!!! Omg, it's not just me! 🤣🤯
I can't be crabby, these brought me so much joy. "Thingamabob? I've got 20!"
Love the pun! 🤣🤣 And omg...I didn't even register the thingamabob reference. Hah!!!
Well done for sticking with it. Reveal footage was gold. ❤
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 😁

Loved the video, and the stays are gorgeous. But I think Flotsam and Jetsam at the end were truly the best. So glad you couldn't help yourself 😂
HAH! Thank you, I'm glad you liked that bit 🤣🤣 It was wickedly fun to do.
Your chaos is hilarious!
Hah! Thanks! 😆
cursed youtubers, always adding to my to-do list :) JK, that looks great and now stays is moving up on my to-do list!
Muahahaha! I'm proud to be an enabler! 😈😂 Whoohoo! Thanks for watching!
You are just what I needed today! Thank you for being you! 😅
Aw, shucks! So glad you enjoyed, and thanks for watching!

Baahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣
A small metal nail file does the best job in sanding boning. The cheapest ones, pure metal, not the fancy ones with diamond coating.
Hope that helps?
It does, thanks for the tip! That makes sense, smaller and easier to handle than the biggo file.
I made mine out of white denim, then dropped them into a purple dye bath. Not bad!
Good idea!
💜💜💜
😊 Thanks for watching!
But did you made the crap hands and headband yourself? 😱💖
Yup! I sure did! It's amazing what you can do with some felt and a couple of pipe cleaners 😂😂😂 I made the Flotsam and Jetsam sock puppets, too, to go with my Ursula costume.
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming that is truly fantastical! I would love to see tutorials on those beauties 💖
I can see how sewing with a beer could lead to Pour Decisions...
Aaahahahaha YES! 👏 Well done! 🤣🤣🤣
