My theory on this song: The “bug” is an abuse victim at the hands of the “spider” and the web is their toxic relationship. The victim receives and refuses an offer of help “if you cut me down i’ll fall to my death so just leave me be (i’ll be fine, i’ll be fine)” partially representing how abuse victims stay in their relationship because they believe they’ll never be loved again, and gets into this I-can-fix-them mentality “he is surely one to be reasoned with” but of course eating bugs is in the predator’s nature. The abuse victim blames themself for staying in the situation “i’m a worthless bug who chose to die” and contemplates what would have happened if they would have just left the relationship earlier “could I have survived, could I have survived?” and their emotions are destroyed. Then the abuser moves onto their next victim. I think that the watcher (the you who wants to cut the bug out) is a previous victim who thankfully got out in time and now can only watch helplessly as more people fall into the abuse and refuse to let themselves be helped. But that’s just my take on it! A lot of lines would make sense in this context imo!
Fun Fact: due to their small mass and thick carapace, most bugs will be unharmed by falls, because terminal velocity doesn’t have enough actual force to kill them.

This song has such a weight to me. I'm not sure what the intention is behind the lyrics, but the way I see it, it's a powerful representation of depression and suicidal ideation. Pushing the help away, deeming it useless before trying, to fight by yourself- despite knowing you're completely trapped. By the time you find you've lost hopelessly, it's much too late, and depression has you in its fangs- and you've long resigned yourself to that fate, with no more fight left. Love this work

My interpretation of this song is about mental health and specifically depression. A thing a lot of people who are depressed for a while feels is that you get comfortable with your depression even though you know it's bad for you. You don't want to get better and get eaten by the spider
