Asking players about anything Steph related never gets old! Love hearing the different views on his greatness. Do you warn them ahead of time? lol
Greatest shooter in the World
You really shouldn't have apologized to the Kings. What would RJ think? He was soooo proud of you calling it soooo right.
Steph solidified himself as one of those top tier greats in that game. Only a few players have ever decided their team wasn't losing and could make it happen. Steph is one of them
Mamba mentality 🐍🧠
Absolutely agree. MJ, Kobe, Steph have it!
@@kyounghwanlee192 Bird, KD, Jerry West, Lebron, many more as well
This was a good one. Nice to hear things from the perspective of two great nba veterans.
@James Maguire most of these shows are good. The last Dame episode is as good and real as it gets
As a Boston sports fan used to being on the right side of greatness, that game was such a gut punch. At the same time, it was an all time great NBA playoff moment. Nothing but respect for Steph, one of the GOATs in the game.
💯🙏👏
As a longtime Dubs fan, it was huge. But nothing but respect for Celtics and Boston sports in general.
@James Clary yeah I thought Boston was the better team but it reminded of 2016 where I thought we were better than Cleveland but in the playoffs one game can change a series
only greats bring the best out of great ones
The Bay loves a good match-up. We got love for Boston
That was the day Steph even convinced the casuals that he was an all-time great. That's how epic that 43 point performance was
It’s crazy it took an epic performance like that to convince people he’s an all-time great. I guess winning back to back MVPs including the first ever unanimous MVP didn’t do that? 😂 or breaking the all-time 3 pointer record?
@@philipcallado5693Haters gonna hate 🤷🏽♂️
But no one could deny his greatness after that performance 🤩
I mean, it has to be on the mount rushmore of I will rip your heart out games. Baby faced killer.
@@philipcallado5693 Steph losing 2016 finals after 73 wins and unanimous MVP somewhat took a dent on his greatness, hence people started the narrative that he wasn’t truly the generational player that he finally proved in 2022 finals.
That game solidified Steph as a top-10 ALL TIME GOAT. His signature game.

Al lasted so long in the league, it's great to see this trend of longevity throughout the league.
@OldmanWither I mean there are more players playing into their mid to late 30s than ever it seems. Just the injuries are higher than ever too, so it balances out
@@MrE_ not true
Players definitly dont last as long and are being rotated out by younger players much faster than ever before.
@@playsie4731I agree. The pool of talented players coming out of college is far greater than in the past and the game is far more global than in the past. I've read that in 1980-81 season only 1.7% of the players were born outside the USA but in 2020 it was 22%. That's going to create a lot of turnover among the low to mid level talent in the nba. From some other respondents i read usage of the phrase "it seems". Just because something "seems" true doesn't make it so. Interesting question, too bad there is no readily available data on average career length in the 50s-70s to compare with.

When Steph started smirkin on the sideline game 3 when they lost I knew Boston didn’t stand a chance🥶
yeah that smirk is frightning every time......
he did that smirk again during that tough loss against the wolves on sunday 😂 and went off against pelicans
@@whydopeoplealwayssayuhm I thought he did that smirk too when they were down 17 at the half
he's a psycho 😭.
Spot on. I went and got popcorn after that smirk and told everyone who could listen that the series was over even though gsw was down. That smirk only mean something if you are Steph, MJ, Kobe and a very select few other. Steph is one of them guys. He a killa!
I've always like Al Horford. The respect he showed for Curry's game, even when Boston lost, makes me respect him more.
Been a fan of his since his Florida days. Noah was the star of that team, but Al was the anchor, the backbone.
Steph Curry single handedly got be interested in the sport of basketball and now I don’t miss a single game he plays. He’s such a generational talent and so much fun to watch.
Jordan did the same for many fans in the 90s. The league will lose something great once he's gone
Him n KD
He did this to my dad aswell
Curry is a Once in a generational player
I’ve been wanting to see Steph in an actual game. Need to before he retires.
Remember being at a big watch party in Boston with hundreds of people and a big screen, felt like the Celtics had that game and the series, never seen the life get sucked out of a crowd like that. Steph really took over
He did
Was it at big night live?
He just took the life out of the Celtics and there fans, after that game both teams knew who was going to win.
The same thing happened in game 1 to warriors. Experience helped them deal with the 1st game after blowingg a big lead
@@mehulchandgothia9779 : The point is that the same thing DID NOT happen to the Warriors. It was not the game-ending loss. They bounced back from that loss. Game 4 was THE game changer, because the Celtics did NOT bounce back from it. The Warriors felt that they were going to win the Championship after that game, and they went on to win it.
..and it sounded like Horford was trying to say that, without saying it.
Stephs done that in the finals before too but that one was the only game the media decided to give him props for
True
Curry never did that in any finals series. Closest was 2015 when warriors didn't have kd but 2015 curry wasn't capable of playing the way curry did that night.
@@sportstalkonly1442 literally did it in Toronto when Klay went down, think he went for 40/50. They lost but he was triple teamed all game with no help…insane performance but just couldn’t cinch it
@@sportstalkonly1442 fax 2015 steph was scared of the big moments. People think 2015/16 was his prim but I believe 2020- now is his prime. Now it’s safe to say he mastered the game of basketball
@@taryllviviers9770 can't name any other moment like that. That's more because klay and kd was out but either way curry never had a moment like this in the finals vs the cavs specifically.
It wasn’t just 43 pts, because that’s been done a lot… it’s that he had no space, he was being hounded by a world class defensive team, he’d find a micro-sliver of daylight and bury it from deep. his team was about to be down 3-1. The degree of difficulty on the shots he hit over and over were insane, and it was on the road, in the finals, against a crazy crowd
Steph’s game 4 was a virtuoso performance and one of the greatest in NBA history.
Super cool insight into Game 4 from the Celtics side. Would be crazy demotivating in the locker room hearing the opposing team next door cheering like they just won the chip after they just tied the series. Curry just willed it and took over, in TD too.
Especially because that team had been there before so many times.
And the Celtics never won another game. The Warriors said they figured them out in game 4.
It's more demotivating when it's a multiple time champion that's celebrating. If it was the Wizards doing the same thing, the assumption would be that they are being immature
@@MrMajani lol
Warriors knew the had the advantage from that point. Series tied 2-2. 2 out of the remaining 3 games were to be played at Chase Center. The had their destiny in their hands after game 4.
One of the best games ive ever seen. You cant play harder than both teams were playing for this game 4. It was non stop back and forth, huge intensity. Game 5 and 6 after this was just a formality, they werent near as intense as game 4.
Absolutely right. Game 4 was the series deciding game. The Cs were never themselves again after that loss
As a Celtics fan all I could do was appreciate that performance ..
As a warriors fan, I appreciate you saying that.
Watched every minute of that finals, if you’re gonna get beat it feels better knowing it was steph curry 😅 not much we could have done different

I root for the Warriors and I love watching the Celtics. Born in 81 near Chicago so I caught some of Bird as well. I just follow great players these days and Boston has plenty to choose from!
That game 4 was my fave game from Steph i ever saw. His confidence was always there but that game- his confidence was showcasing he was a champion. He was not gonna lose that game and forced everyone to accept that he's one of the best. He secured the Finals MVP with that one game alone
As a life long Dubs fan, this game and game 6 Klay against OKC are the best ever.
I mean, Steph is a Legendary Top 10 All Time discussion player. They are just unstoppable sometimes, no matter what you do
As amazing he is. Its crazy how hes still underappreciated. The avg fan doesnt even realize how elite he is because theyll look just at stats. But the stamina and attention he gets its unrivaled. Man literally has to be the most double teamed player. He makes the game sooooo much easier for his teamates. Thats how klay can put up crazy amount of point games with barely dribbling the ball.
@@jacksonmai3563 It's not just the fans. The media has robbed him of a couple all-nba 1st team and of course the infamous 2015 fmvp. But he was so unique and new that I understand that people (me included) took a while to realize what we were witnessing.

Dude is literally the *only* guy in the history of the game who ever averaged minimum 30 ppg with 50-40-90 shooting splits (and he's currently on such pace again with his 29.6 ppg while shooting 49.6 (fg) - 42.5 (3pt fg) - 91.2 (ft)
Contributing to 2 of only 4 times a player averaging minimum 30 ppg with minimum 65% true shooting percentage in a season (such a combination of stats indicating a player's extreme efficiency despite their high-volume scoring ability) in the history of the game. Only other guy who ever did it other than Curry is Utah's great scorer in the 80's Adrian Dantley (both of them done it twice in their career).
Got the most 20+ pts quarter since such data was firstly tracked in 1996 (passing Kobe just last season after that game where he popped up against Houston in the 4th). Top-5 for this stat is 1) Curry 2) Kobe 3) Dame 4) Harden & Lebron who are tied with 25 such quarters in their career
Still holding the record for most points scored in an OT single quarter with that 17 pts against Portland in the playoffs at 2016
Record holder of most ppg in a sweep series which he did on that 2019 WCF against Portland too (36.5 ppg)
Amongst the top 50 scorers of all-time (based on total points), Curry got the highest true shooting percentage amongst those great scorers and second only to Shaq in terms of effective field goal percentage (only 0.1 ppg deficit between those 2)
Amongst top 10 all-time in terms of finals ppg
Amongst players with the highest playoffs winning percentage (only lost to Magic I think in this department)
Played with least nba-75 club players amongst other greats (only Kd who's in such category yet ppl always call him got so much helps but never say anything about the other greats who's literally played with more top-tier legendary players themselves).
I could go on and on about his ridiculous stats that's never even once mentioned in the mainstream media but that's all for now.
this was the time where Steph seperated himself and aligned himself with one of the most impactful atheletes to ever play the game. i nthe past ten years, i cant think of one player who has impacted the overall game of basketball than him. his style changed the sport at all levels.
Changed it for the worse from an entertainment perspective IMO, but this is facts
@@xembones agree. But status remains, he has more impact on all brands of basketball today. I didn’t say it improved the sport lol
@@xembones lmao I can see where you're coming from. Personally I just find the guy easier to root for because he doesn't fit the mold of a typically dominant all time great. And yet he's completely revolutionized offenses at all levels. He's gonna be in more ppls top 10 if he gets another ring and fmvp.
@@electropyro1899 oh don't get me wrong, I LOVE watching Steph play. Dude is magical, one of a kind. The thing I don't like is that he and Steve Kerr showed the league how effective motion heavy, 3pt reliant offenses can be and now the 3pt shot is prioritized over less efficient offense that was just plain entertaining. Maybe it's just because I grew up watching midrange assassins like TMac Kobe Wade etc, but it feels like the game is lacking something when teams are racing to put up 40 3s a night. It's completely subjective though. If people like motion offense and unselfish passing, this is definitely the era for them and that's great
@@xembones the warriors promoted analytics into the game. The percentage of winning along with the three point shots. so everyone started trying. Problem is, there's only one Steph Curry lol

What’s interesting is the comments from Andre after that game. He didn’t publicly state it but apparently after game 4 in the W’s locker room he was telling the team that they figured out Boston. They figured out how to attack them. That would apparently confirm what Al noticed how they were extremely hyped in celebration post game. That very well may be true as they went on to win three straight.
As a Celtics fan, I remember watching that game thinking Steph had an answer for everything. It was like we hit them with a 1-2 combo, then Steph would bring an uppercut. Unreal moment to watch
Yea when Steph goes into that mode, it’s almost unreal. And it’s not like other greats with all the freethrows. Like no, Steph is just making everything like it’s a hacked video game. He not even using shooting form.

Warriors did the same thing with the rockets before losing to the raptors. I remember steph acted like he cant attack PJ tucker. But in the last 2 minutes of the closing game he nailed everyshot againts him. Same happened with Al horford.
That game is why the Rockets broke up. Rockets fully healthy, at home, having said if CP3 wasn’t hurt last year they’d have beat them… this was their shot and KD wasn’t even playing due to injury. Steph by himself gutted that franchise
These games like that, that's why he is one of the greatest of all times ever joining game

Stephen Curry is so different that you can't even compare him to another player cuz his game is something we haven't seen before he doesn't have magic game he doesn't have Jordan's game he doesn't have Kobe's game none of the athletes that came before him has actually been able to do what he does so there's no category that you can put Stephen Curry in he's his own category just like Michael is his own category

If Celtics won Game 4, the Warriors would be down 1-3, and the series is basically over from that point. Steph knew that.
Steph WILLED a Game 4 Warriors win into existence, and in TD Garden of all places. Steph Curry was already the greatest shooter of all time, but that Game 4 solidified his place as a Top 10 Player of All-Time

The one thing both NBA players failed to mention about the regular season, is that teams focus is mainly on executing their chemistry offensively, and not so much defensively, because it's not enough time to focus on defense. Which is why we're seeing such high scoring games. The focus is on staying within the teams concept offensively, executing the principles.
Seeing them celebrate like That should have been motivation to close em out lol
I looked at the title, I clicked. Then I checked the uploader and it was JJ Redick himself. W
The entire point of the regular season is to fine tune a multitude of aspects in preparation to win and beat teams in the playoffs. It is in essence, practice, as AH stated. Otherwise, the regular season is just Harlem Globtrotter entertainment for spectator only sake.
You have title contender, playoff teams and fringe playoff teams. Boston, GS, the Heat and Milwaukee do not care about seeding because they have been through the wars.

what makes this story even better is how shitty steph played in game 5 and how the rest of the team bailed him out. reminded me of the subway scene from the first spider man movie in the 90s.
Take 2 things from the warriors comments from al
1-experience, we say it every year in the NBA
2- mental warfare, the warriors knew the Celtics were down and just drove the knife a little deeper by celebrating, they didn't do that for them, they did that for the Celtics to hear it.
Celtics we’re like “bro, how come we never celebrate and have this much fun?”
Most people have been in college/university or secondary/high school. The regular season is your coursework and the playoffs are your exams. Both are important. You don't necessarily need an A in coursework to perform well in your exams, but the worse you do the more likely your exams will suffer. The very nature of exams mean they have to matter more. Short window of time, little chance to recover from setbacks and no opportunity to make up for them if you lose.
Man JJ, just wanna say as a basketball fan I appreciate you so much. You treat everyone with respect, ask insightful questions and don’t stir the point just for the sake of it!
An honest man won't go to hell
He was right!!! Y’all kept choking especially Tatum…but horlford in his age and role maxed out that series
Jason has since said his legs gave out.
Some media outlet needs to start the process of getting Al Horford signed up. He ain't no JJ but that guy got brain. If ESPN has Tristan, then Al needs a spot somewhere.
It’s crazy I think I remember each team was winning away games
Credit to freaking Wiggins as well. He destroyed Tatum's confidence during that series. I couldn't believe Wiggins had that in him!
Stephs amazing game overshadowed the amazing game from Wiggins. His 16 rebounds were crucial
And he guarded Tatum. Wiggins was their 2nd best player in the playoffs.. Without him, they wouldn't have won.
