A switch game you might enjoy as a family is the Ringfit system! From what I understand, it has a "leg assist" option that removes the need for a given player to do any of the leg portions and just focus on the upper body things (it has other adaptable modes as well! I use the "quiet mode" which allows me to do a simple leg "bouncing" motion instead of jogging, there are adjustments for shoulders, knees, etc).
Such great gifts, thank you! I paused the video and bought the book for my nephew straight away! It's his birthday today, I was uncertain as to what to get him and as if by magic, the perfect gift! Also, love that you use "spoons" as your energy meter! My sister told me about it once and it genuinely changed the way I view and decide which activities are *actually* necessary! Thanks again Gem 🥰 P.s, your name is the best Disability Lifestyle Channel name ever...but best brand name goes to Adapt Defy, that is some neat word play! Take care! :) x
Gem you are brilliant, I'm getting my daughter to watch this. I'm new to being in a wheelchair and I love your videos they're so helpful to me and are really helping me adjust to my new wheels. Thankyou
Hi Gem, sorry, I hadn't noticed before. The blond Barbie in the wheelchair was clearly modelled by you. What an honour. And of course you are very worthy of that honour!
As a *new* wheelchair user, these look like products I need, like, yesterday 😍😂 I picked up a wheelchair for free, was never educated on how to use or maintain it or how to get accessories or where, or even what types of things were available. I have been using things I already own to get by thus far, and it looks like the items you are showing here would solve a lot of my current problems!
Hey Gem, with your wrap and roll idea, why not do the zipper up and then shimmy it around you like a little sleeping bag? Just a little mor protection from cold air :). I often tuck my feet into one arm of the upside-down (still functioning) coat, but had not considered cutting and sewing an older one. Love from Canada
Thank you for all the wonderful ideas, Gem. I have just ordered a heated throw for my husband who suffers with cold. I recently treated myself to a Switch console and am still trying to get to grips with the controls. It’s great though. Greetings from a fellow wheelchair user. X
I bought a long waxed jacket/coat. It reaches the top of my boots. I think they are riding/sporting waxed Mac. It zips from the bottom aswell and has a hood. Not thick but over a jumper it's great. It is long enough to cover my pj bottoms if I take my dogs for a walk early, no one knows what's going on underneath. ( Sat on a scooter not walk walk)🤣
I have had the Lapstacker for several weeks, and I cannot tell you how much of a life changer this is!! Approximately a year ago, I tore a muscle in my shoulder from getting the backpack from the back of my chair at work as it had my laptop, drink, lunch, papers, etc. in it. Since the Lapstacker, I can hold my backpack on my lap as I get myself into my office and not have to reach back. I also have not dropped papers and books in the hallway at work from their previously precarious position on my lap and am also able to go from the breakroom back to my office easily without "one-hand rolling" due to having to hold my microwaved meal. I cannot recommend this product enough and am so grateful to Mike for inventing this!!
My husband bought me a Ffora wallet/cupholder set for Christmas and it is LIFE-CHANGING!! No more hurting my shoulders and fumbling around in my wheelchair bag at the store 🙌 I feel so sleek 🥳
One game that I highly recommend on the switch is the Ring Fit. You have to get a few accessories, but it great for exercise! And another great pet site is PawPaws they have festive collars, bandanas, and I love going on there to find a present for my pup every year!
@@Wheelsnoheels yes it's sunny an 64F how is DB IS SHE STILL ABLE TO GO TO SCHOOL I KNOW YALL WENT INTO PHASE 4 NOT SURE IF IT'S THE WHOLE UK OR JUST SURREY BYE FOR NOW LOVE FROM TEXAS
Who is gonna tell Gem that she pronounces Pickepacke (Pig-e pack(like bagpack)-e) wrong but she does it in such a cute, confident and full of energy way that we are not gonna correct her? :)
May I add items of interest, Mrs Hubbard. Over the knee socks might be a choice for some. There's so many makes out there. Not everyone will like my best choice, the Montecristo make on Amazon UK. So stretchable. DIY Home Hair Cutting. You'll not believe how easy it is to learning how to cut F/M and children's hair. Somewhere on the net Wahl have a mass of teach-yourself haircutting videos, including men's beard trimming. RUclips is a source for this subject, too. Maybe Mrs Hubbard could learn and afterwards make a video on how to do home hair cutting. (UK)
Just ordered the foot warmers for my partner who is paraplegic, he always suffers with cold feet. I thought if these are too hot, you could put them between 2 pairs of socks so they’re not too close to skin ?
If you are still looking for the barbie in a wheelchair smyths toys sell them. Also for larger dolls “our gender” have come out with a wheelchair set that also comes with crutches and a few other things.
Hi Gem, I hope you enjoy playing with your Barbie doll when she arrives! Are you going to get one for your daughter as well? Maybe you could get an Action Man doll for Shaun too.
In one of your previous videos, I asked if you would consider taking up learning how to do home hair cutting. If you do this and make a video of it, others will follow. All you need is hair cutting scissors, barbers comb and thinning scissors. The rest you can learn from viewing Wahl Videos on how to do home hair cutting. I have surplus hair cutting scissors, barber comb and thinning scissors suitable for home use if you want them. They don't cost a lot anyway. Learning how to use an electric clipper comes afterwards. (UK)
They have timers, you can set them to be on for about an hour before going to sleep, and they don’t get dangerously hot, they only get warm. It’s not like having a fire on your toes, if you notice it’s getting really hot then something is obviously wrong with it.
Pikapaka is supposed to mean stuffed/full in German???? As a German, I have NEVER heard of that word Edit: I've looked in some dictionaries and nope, that's not a word.
She's not? She's just giving gift ideas. Also, Christmas is so commercialized that most families, even non-religious families celebrate. It's almost impossible to not celebrate in the US, even if you're an atheist.
