- TAVIRA é uma cidade portuguesa no Distrito de Faro, e fica no Sotavento Algarvio (Algarve oriental). É atravessada pelo rio Gilão e está repleta de belos edifícios que exibem os seus característicos telhados de quatro águas (piramidais). Em Tavira há muitas igrejas históricas (37 no total). Nos últimos anos Tavira tem tido um grande desenvolvimento na área do golfe. EM DESTAQUE: Rio Gilão; Ponte de origem romana (?) sobre o rio Gilão; Antigo Mercado da Ribeira (estrutura em ferro recuperada em 1999 para as atuais funções de lazer, esplanadas e comércio); Mercado atual; Castelo de Tavira; Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo; Igreja da Misericórdia; Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Ondas (conhecida como Igreja dos Pescadores); Antigo Convento de S. Francisco; Igreja de S. Sebastião; Igreja do Convento de Nossa Senhora do Carmo; Ermida de S. Brás; Câmara Municipal; Biblioteca Municipal Álvaro de Campos; Museu Municipal; Quartel da Atalaia (Regimento de Infantaria nº1; Estação Ferroviária de Tavira; Parque Natural da Ria Formosa; Porto de abrigo de Tavira.
TAVIRA is a Portuguese city in Faro District, and is located in the Eastern Algarve. It is crossed by the River Gilão and is full of beautiful buildings which exhibit their characteristic four sloping sides roofs (pyramidal). In Tavira there are many historical churches (37 in total). In recent years, Tavira has had a great development in golf. FEATURED: Rio Gilão; Roman (?) bridge over the river Gilão; Old Ribeira Market (an iron structure restored in 1999 to the current functions of leisure and commerce); The current Market; Tavira Castle; Church of St. Mary of the Castle; Church of Mercy; Church of Our Lady of the Waves (known as Fisherman's Church); Old Convent of St. Francis; Church of St. Sebastian; Church of the Convent of Our Lady of Mount Carmel; Chapel of S. Brás; Town Hall; Municipal Library Álvaro de Campos; Municipal Museum; Atalaia Headquarters (Infantry Regiment No.1; Tavira Train Station; Natural Park of Ria Formosa; Haven of Tavira.
Matei saudades da minha querida Tavira, onde fui criado pela minha mãe e avòs ate quando aos 9 anos emigramos para o Brasil.
No ano passado voltei outra vêz e reencontrei uma cidade linda.

Estas imagens têm o condão de me fazer reviver os meus vinte anos. Estive aí durante três meses, hospedado num hotel que ainda se mantém em actividade e que aparece no vídeo. Usava uma indumentária cor de feijão que me mandavam sujar na Atalaia ou nas salinas, e fiz um pic-nic durante uma semana em São Brás de Alportel, mas nada disso importava porque havendo alguma folga a Ilha de Quatro Águas me acolhia com meiguice. Belos tempos.

Thank you dear Iris! About the old bridge: it's unknown whether the date on which it was erected, knowing only that existed during the Christian conquest. This bridge has Islamic features that are noticeable in their arches. The current bridge reconstruction results in the seventeenth century, which led to the almost total suppression of the original features. The current characteristics are those of a medieval bridge... But the origin is unknown! Anyway it's a beauty! Have a happy weekend. Love.

Nice to see, My grandma lived in the street that goes up the hill at 1:52 . She lived in one of the apartments with a green door at the right side. her door was next to a small store. wich we're our friends :)

Um vídeo muito lindo de um outro lugar que ainda tenho que visitar um dia... Acho muito interessante que no brasão de Tavira há uma cruz de Santiago. Mas você não visitou a igreja de Santiago? É muito importante porque aí começa o caminho de Santiago português do interior (que passa por Évora, Castelo Branco e Guarda). ;-)

Obrigada Lars! Eu vi a igreja de Santiago apenas do exterior (1:26) e da parte de trás. Fica junto à igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo. Hoje em dia todas as igrejas estão fechadas e só abrem durante as eucaristias. Nestes passeios o tempo é sempre pouco para se ver tudo. Tenta-se ver o que é possível... Um abraço.
Isabel, seu vídeo é precioso. Parabéns Dá vontade de sair voando daqui do Brasil, São Paulo e me instalar por aí. A música é deliciosa, extremamente melodiosa. Não dá vontade de parar de ouvi -la. Que romantismo suave, Deu-me a ideia de uma cidadezinha pacata, tranquila boa para se viver. Mas, o que seria aquele casal a se despedir, cada um de um dos lados da rua? e aquele homem com vestes cor de terra? Fiquei curiosa.
