your vlogs have a ghibli movie vibe and I'm so happy you're getting well enough that you're finally able to watch all of the ghibli movies. mononoke hime is my favourite.
Tomorrow I'll have a surgey at the hospital and I left this video for the end of today, so i can feel a little bit more relaxed and stop stressing about tomorrow. Thank you, your channel is such a safe and cosy place.
i just realized how much time she must have spent to edit these kinds of videos. This is an appreciation post for her incredible editing skills. Also, Im so incredibly happy that you are slowly recovering from your concussion and that you are now able to watch movies. Stay safe and happy, em and to anyone reading this!
It's nice to see comments like these. You don't see enough of them on RUclips. There are too many being rude about when such and such video is coming out ,and not enough acknowledging the amount of work that goes into putting out videos. Not that asking about when they are doing something is always bad. It's just how you do it. A lot of people are really mean to RUclipsrs.
I love watching your videos, such a soothing and calming vibe + the reading and nature always fills me up with so much joy yet longing bc you're surrounded by that kind of beauty 🤍
@@emmiereads i'm currently reading the great gatsby (i'm trying to catch up on some classics), and the last books i finished were crime and punishment and the human stain (i loved this one ^^)
Your videos make me so happy, I love that I watched your channel grow! Super excited to be doing the readathon this week; I'm going to attempt to read 100 years of solitude... I tried reading it a couple times before and struggled to get past the first 50 pages. But your love for the story and the way you talk about it inspires me to give it another go.
I can't! This is my favorite booktube channel, I wish we could be friends! Lots of love from Brazil ❤️ I'm a quiet viewer, I think I've never commented before, but I've been here for so long now!
Emma, I'm so glad I found your channel! (love your calming intros too btw) The way you talk about books... you've reintroduced me to my love of books and I'm finally reading properly again! Please keep up the good work. Greetings from Germany 🌞🍃
This is a perfect vlog: good books ( First Love, by Turgueniev, is great), the fields are beautiful, your dog is cute and i love the muffin man song!💖🌺🐕🌳🍩📚🦋

I took a stroll today revisiting my Catholic gothic childhood in total contrast to your beautiful pantheistic images, although I did get some nice footage of some swans!Love you and love your two channels!
Ohh, I'm so excited of you possibly reading Kristin Lavransdatter. It's one of my favourite historical fiction series and definitely needs more love! x
I’ve been excited for you to read Anne of Green Gables for ages! So so sweet. If you enjoy it I’d really recommend the 1985 film adaption whilst ur still in springtime! So wholesome so wonderful!
I recently got 100 Years of Solitude from the library and I started it a few days ago. I’m not far yet but I’m so excited to read it! Thank for the recommendation
Since you're starting to watch movies again (awesome btw !!) I'd recommend cartoon saloon. I wouldn't say it's similar to studio Ghibli but their movies are so magical and so so pretty, rlly underrated. A lot of them are based on Celt myths and such. My favorites are song of the sea and wolfwalkers I think. The breadwinner is also good
Hey Emmie. I am one of the early birds 😁! A coincidence is that I was thinking about watching your reading and here I go. Love ur lovely and cozy vlogs❤️. Thx a bunch!!!!
When I was a fairly young child (eight? nine?) my brother knew how much I loved rollie pollies (aka sowbugs; woodlice). He built me a giant bug hotel out of an old aquarium that we weren't using, and I kept rollie pollies in it for several months, outside, with the aquarium tipped on its side so they could leave whenever they wanted. It was one of my favorite birthday presents!
You convinced me to read First Love, so I went looking online only to discover that I already own it in a Penguin box set called "Great Loves" so now I'm starting it today! Its a rainy day here, so it will be perfect reading weather~
"The Murmur of Bees" sounds FANTASTIC! I immediately added it to my goodreads list - I always need more mexican literature in my life as well as a magical realism story about a little boy with a protective shroud of bees (which totally sounds like a bee-version of Gaara from Naruto lol) ??? like dang, sign me up!
I love everything about your content. It brings me soft calmness and so much nostalgia. You inspire me to just start reading again. P.S. You're so pretty. You look like a very bookish Anastasia Steele
Jean Kwok also wrote Mambo in Chinatown, it's also really really good, although I did like Girl in Translation a bit more! But I would still recommend Mambo in Chinatown, you should check it out :)
I can't express how this video arrived in my inbox at the perfect time! Thank you! ❤️ Also, is there a Spotify playlist with the music you use in these videos? Because they are always the perfect vibe for my day and I can never find anything quite right
“From Up On Poppy Hill” was the first Miyazaki film I ever saw, and it is still my favorite. I saw it in a theater during its original release, and was completely swept up by it. I hope you enjoyed it every bit as much.
I never knew Howl's Moving Castle was a series! I'm definitely going to look into that now. I love how you introduce me to books not on my radar. Bookdar?
Weird request or question but could you do a video on how you read? Eg your annotating system, how you listen to or read books - I guess I’m wondering if you read along as you listen to a book because I’ve noticed you often have a hard copy of a book you’re listening to.
I recently picked up "The Phantom of the Opera" so I can't wait to read it. It's the penguin classics edition translated by: Mireille Ribiere. I was told that it was the best translated version.
We had the same thoughts about the crazy end there. I was just thinking, "There's a biblical plague outside your window!". Then you said just that. Hopefully everyone in the area was okay. That was a huge group of stinging insects on some sort of mission. Keep that window closed and them on the other side of it!
Hi Emma ! It's great that you're getting to movies ! If you want one that feels just like a Ghibli movie but is not animation, there's Moonrise Kingdom by Wes Anderson which is SO. GOOD. Makes me so ready-to-implode-from-joy every time. Kisses from Brussels !!
Emma, All the beauty of the world rests in your eyes and your voice is the wind as it glides through the grasslands into my window. To look upon your smile is to look upon creation as it was formed on that first day and though it has fallen to mortality, your smile has sustained my spirit. xoxo
Long comment coming, probably should make it a blog post or perhaps an email???, but anyway. I tore my ACL a few months ago and with the extra time I normally spend doing active things, I decided to get some reading done (I love to read, always have, but you know how time just gets away from you and you'll read any book you pick up in 5 hours but then forget to pick up another book for 5 months?) That reading naturally lead me to booktube, and eventually this channel. I at first i thought this channel was going to lead me to a ton of new books. which i suppose it has. but the more i watch your videos, i stopped envying your bookshelves and started envying one of your books in particular. War and Peace...full of tabs and savored 22-page section by 22-page section. I adore the way you cherish all your tough reads and take the time to mark the things that delight you in each book. I tend to take novels at a sprint. my ADHD tempts me to skim half the time rather than revel. But I decided to give more attentive reading a try with Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. I bought 500 post-it flags (overkill?) and used them to highlight the lyrical word plays (orange), beautiful imagery (green), and bold social commentary (purple) that made Hurston's book an American classic. A book that I normally would have sped through in one day, I enjoyed immensely over three. Taking another page from your book (HAHA SEE WHAT I DID THE- sorry, nevermind), dialogue that normally would have been lost on me I listened to on audiobook, letting the narrator's performance bring the characters from the page to sit beside me. To skim or rush this novel would have been a huge disservice. RUclips as a whole and Booktube in specific often feels like a numbers game. Who can read the most, newest, prettiest books. I feel like this channel takes a risk to talk about different kinds of books, or even to talk about the same book for multiple videos (hi Tolstoy again). This comment is just to recognize that decision you make to cherish each read and that it's already making a huge difference in the way I approach literature. It may sound stupid, but your videos helped inspire me to get excited about the craft of writing. So thank you for helping me rediscover this love. God this comment got so long you could print it out and put it on your bookshelf.
Hi!!! I love your videos so much! They are so inspiring and bring me so much joy. I am 13 almost 14 and I really want to get into more classics, more abridged or not abridged books, memoirs and stories from different countries and people. I want to read all the recent and popular books as well. Do you have any tips for someone with little to no budget that loves the library but loves annotating as well? Any recommendations on how to start reading these types of books for much younger people? Sorry if this is long and bothers you!!!!
I’m not Emma, but if you live in the US, check Goodwill for cheap books! The Goodwill in my area has paperbacks for $2 and hardbacks for $3 or $4, (classics and recent books!). Also, check different locations since some have a better selection. Check other thriftstores too!
I love studio Ghibli too, would love to know recommendations for similar feeling movies. I’m not sure there is a replacement for studio Ghibli though!!
