Mount Colden via Van Hoevenberg trail #12 of the 46er challenge

Mount Colden (6/19/24) was #12 for me and my boys (13 years ok and 9 years old). We went up Mount Colden via the Van Hoevenberg trail. The trail was very nice and I found it to be easier than I expected. The ascend doesn’t really hit you until you hit the junction for Avalanche pass about 3.2 miles in.
The weather called for 30% chance of a thunderstorm around 11:00am, we they lied, it stormed at 9:00am.
The bugs were pretty active but after the storm came through it didn’t seem to be a problem. We did not have any bugs at the summit whatsoever. There was not a lot of mud on the trail at all, which made it more enjoyable.
