SOUTHERN PACIFIC'S SUGAR BEET TRAINS

Beet trains handed off to the SMV Railroad at Guadalupe, CA are covered from the 1970s and 1992. And don’t miss a cab ride on the SP-owned Carriso Gorge line just before hurricane Kathleen closed it to through traffic in 1976.

I lived near a Holly Sugar beet plant in So.Cal and wound up working there in the mid 70's. I now live in Idaho near a sugar beet plant and you are right on about the sme ll after 40 years away, I knew exactly were that odor was coming from..😂

The coupling attempt at 06:08 and second, successful coupling, were really something. The two tanks connecting just prior was near as rough looking.
