Remember it so well, Villa memories will never forget it
As a liverpool, fan watching this on ITV, I loved Villa winning this. Incredible night
I'm glad to see spinksy there. I don't think he gets the recognition his time with us deserves. There were some pretty rough times along the way.
Nigel Spink the Legend 👍
Villa fan from Thailand 🇹🇭❤️
I’m a Forest supporter and was so glad OUR FORMER Centre forward,Peter Withe got the winner for you guys.He helped us win the title in 1977/78 with his strike partner Tony Woodcock and was disappointed when he was sold the following season.Amazing to think that the European Cup stayed in England for SIX YEARS.Liverpool winning it in 77,78 and 81,Forest in 79 and 80,then Villa in 82.That’s how good club football was in England.Great times.
You need to get rid of that Aussie moron. He'll end up ruining you. And you need a new owner who doesn't sack good managers and replace them with utter clueless rubbish. UTV
Brian Clough was the greatest manager ever, Forrest were unbelievable
@mrshifter9582You can't even spell Forest 😂
What a night God rest Ron Saunders and Tony Barton utv
Kenny swain and Nigel spink what a pair of legends thanks for the memories guys ❤❤🙏🏼
Oh the memories..I was nine years old watching it with my dad and then running out into the street on the final whistle celebrating with everyone else who had also come out celebrating..great great memories 💜💙💜💙
Ive had the pleasure of working with Spinksy for the past 5 years, as a villa fan i have asked him about the final time and time again, he is one of the most humblest men i have ever met, his stories and football knowledge is truly incredible, Aston Villa Legend! for ever a true Villan and one of the best in my books regardless of how many games he actually played for us. he gave us something that only a select few teams are good enough to get their hands on. UTV!!!💜💙
Standing in the upper tier in the centre of the goal as a 12yr old lad with my dad. That feeling of peter withe scoring after watching the goal a million times since never goes away. Am i the only one who tears up watching my team win the European Cup
No you're not, teary eyed everytime there is something like this and 1982 shown. UTV
I was on the upper tier as well, and when Peter scored, the place went ballistic. Honestly, it's still fresh in my mind. What a great day that was.
Nice.
I was 17 and stood pretty much where you were, I shed a few tears that evening.
@MC-ld4dy no im not ... ive just got somthing in my eye 😅
Brilliant video and great to see 2 legends share their experience. Brian Moores commentary for the goal still sends shivers down my spine!
We'd moved to Perth Australia so myself and my late father who was born in Aston stayed up and watched it live back in the day when live football wasn't showed much here. Never forget that night.
Legends 💜💙
My mum worked as secretary at the school where Kenny's kid attended. He often popped into her office for a hello and a chat, which as a Villa fan made her day. No superstar airs and graces, Ken was just a decent friendly guy. Great days!
Two absolute legends
Such great memories from 82. I was lucky enough to be there as an 18 year old....I loved that team, each and every one of them. Fantastic unit. I watched them home and away in 80/81 and was at Highbury. Such a relief to get it done ✔️ UTV
I am in love with this club since 1981
Is Nigel Spinks performance that day, the best by any goalkeeper ever, I think so.
A tear in the eye watching this. To this day the joy at the final whistle was indescribable.
This was brilliantly made. And I’ll be honest, we could have done with more of that squad being there sharing their stories.
I’ve been fortunate enough to meet most of the squad and over a beer they tell you their stories. But there’s something about Spinks feeling the emotions of being there and painting the picture. Up the Villa and the 82 boys.
What an absolutely fantastic video what memories so very proud of them all and to see them both relive them moments ❤❤❤❤
Can still see the seats where my brother, Paul, his friend Dinky Bell & I stood on the upper tier as I watch and listen to Kenny and Nig.' That ecstatic moment and the goosebumps come, tears too! One can never thank the players enough for what they achieved. I had the immense privilege of meeting Nigel as I walked towards the Fanzone stage to talk of a love of Villa and of ACORNS. On thanking him, Nigel said he enjoyed it, to which I replied "not as much as your Mum!" Legends forever! Up The MIGHTY Villa!
Two Villa Legends, great hearing their thoughts, nothing can take that victory away from them.
Absolutely brilliant listening to those two legends! ❤❤
Only born in 78, supported villa since 85, spink gave me inspiration to play in goal
Fantastic Video I remember the night it can't be described it's engraved in your heart We celebrated so much missed our train and ferry to get back to Birmingham but didn't give a shit Magical night UTV
This is such a great piece ,,,, fantastic Villa tv
This was so beautiful to watch 💜🩵
Absolutely brilliant lads, I was 12, hiding behind the settee, x
Diehard Wolves fan here. My best mates Dad had a box at the Villa during 80-81 season …we were both 11 yrs old.
We went to every home game at the Villa and the following Saturday stood at the Wolves.
Villa were Outstanding for a good 14 months and still to this day are the best side I’ve ever seen.
I remember watching the European Cup on ITV and after the Game it went to the Adverts and one of the adverts was a Davenports …
Which simply said Congratulations Aston Villa from your club sponsors DAVENPORTS.
i watched Villa vs Bayern Munich game on telly live when i was 12 years old in Malaysia. I had all the villa posters from Shoot magazine pasted on the walls of my roon at home - Cowans, Morley, Shaw, Withe....My Mum was real mad at me.
And now at 58 I'm still a die-hard villa fan, Sure do recall Spinks, Rimmers, Swain, Mortimer, McNaught, Evans , Little, Gray ...
My VIlla journey started with the Villa Subuteo team i had as a kid, whilst the others pick other teams.
Remember that.night watching on TV as a 9 year old. Went into school the next day with my chest puffed out
Great memories, I was a young excited 17 year old at the ground on our history's greatest night, I'm now just turned 61!! thanks again guys UTV
I was twenty five - 68 now - and (until it actually happened in my late 50s) I thought I would never be closer to having a heart attack than I was that night. First from the stress - Bayern seemed to be all over us at times - and then from the amounts of alcohol consumed after the game, followed by the hangover from hell 🤣. It's just a shame I'm no longer fit enough to go to games now. I'd love to be there tonight, even if it was just for old times sake. UTV VTID
Great film lads . I remember watching it at home as a 16 year old . Gary Shaws parents used to live by us
Nigel spink and Swain Great Guys Legends in the 80s All the best 👍👍👍🙏🙏🖐🏼😀
Great vid, gave me goosebumps. Legends every one of them. Our greatest day, giving us something to be proud of for the rest of our lives.
Martinez injured so Bizot started very similar to 1982, also all 3 goals scored there in the same goal in the same corner of the net. Amazing UTV an unforgettable night thank God I was able to be there.
I bumped into Nigel & Kenny in Rotterdam before the game on Thursday & they were so nice to me. Thanks for the memories 2 absolute legends!! 🙌
Absolute legends both of you Kenny Swain so good and everyone's mom was proud of you Spinksy UTV 🤩
Loved this love my club utv
I can still remember spink coming on like it was yesterday 🏆
Great memories when i was 26,59 now, great watching it in My local pub.
I have no shame whatsoever in saying that tonight as I see the Villa team walk out, man tears will roll down my cheeks.
#VTID 💜💙

As we believe in them..!!!
Up the Villa..
Such a fantastic visit down memory lane with absolute legends with our great club. I was too young to remember the final but I've met all the squad many times over the years chatting about their experiences of being champions of Europe and I had great pleasure when my daughter met Dennis Mortimer for the 40th anniversary celebrations. Living in Devon none of her school friends have had the accolade of meeting a European Cup winning captain.
Just wonderful. I couldn’t go (GCSE next morning) so watched on TV. Anyone else remember the Davenports ad immediately after the game?
What a night that was!
What a fantastic vlog, well done avfc. Two legends
What a great video🦁🟣🔵. I remember Kenny Swain and Nigel Spinks so well. I was lucky to go to all the European home games and league games during the 1980 -1982 seasons. A truly remarkable Villa era. I am now dreaming that Unai and our players can do something similar this season and next. Dreams do come true 💜💙.
Legends and Heroes
Legends for ever 😊
I've still got my white away shirt from 1982
Mind you I've still got all my shirts still
I went to school with Kenny's son, Kenny used to donate old training balls and equipment to our football team from his time in the england youth setup which is a testament to what a great guy he was
Tears in my eyes UTV
Brilliant video.. cherish our heritage, create new history UTV
Brilliant! Shame Des Bremner couldn't have joined Kenny and Nigel. For me, Des was the Man of the Match. Great day and hopefully more to follow in the very near future.
Lump in the throat i was at this game age 19
Amazing video, so pleased for you Nigel. Sharing with Auntie Sylvia and Doris 👍🏻 UTV
What a fantastic video.. what a brilliant bunch of players.! What i would give, to be alove back then. UTV
Great video I was their now living 😅in nz love it
I briefly met Kenny Swain on an Villa stadium tour on the 25 may 2024, I went round the grounds with Des Bremner
That was special
Followed the villa since the 3rd division first game Bournemouth 48 thousand.
Didn't go to the European final but was bouncing of the ceiling when we scored ....UP THE VILLA.
As a Villa fan I was fortunate in 1982 to be one of the 4 police motor cycle escorts to meet the team at Villa Park and escort the open to bus into the city centre and then into the council house. Stood with them at the rear of the balcony looking at thousands of happy faces below. We the took them back to Villa Park and had our photo taken with Peter Withe on my police bike. Happy days!😀
Brilliant ❤❤
Heroes
Love this UTV
Only love from Sweden!
Excellent
Villa fan from Serbia! Go Villa!
I always laugh at the bloke giving the trophy to Dennis, trying get the pop from the crowd for lifting the trophy 13:38 lol
I remember sitting in my flat in Shepherd's Bush with my wife and a friend watching nervously and then when Jimmy went off putting my head in my hands and saying 'that's it, we ain't gonna win this now'! BUT, then out came this fresh faced kid who I hadn't seen play before and wow, what a performance. Instant Villa legend. Great night and probably the best 13 players to represent Villa. RIP Gary Shaw.
Everton fan,great villa side that
OMG the memories, magical. Was living in Yorkshire at the time & was potless.l would have found a way to get there but my dad bunged me .If he hadn't I would have been divorced 10 years earlier. Pure magic UTV
I expect this was a particularly emotional return for Big Nige as that night at De Kuip wasn’t simply the highlight of his sporting career, it was the true starting point of it, and a very respectable career it was too.
Spinky was brilliant in the years that followed…..
We are a big club
What a shame the whole squad couldn't have done this after 25 years or 30, that would have been so extra special.
How come Gary Newbon was on the Bench he's a Blue Nose, great vid , I was there behind the goal UTV
I think they named Newbon as one of the substitutes just so he could sit on the bench!
Would of loved to of been there but unfortunately I was born 4 years too late. UTV!
I was 13 at the time.
I liked the comment Nigel Spink made all those years ago when he played in that final - "My mum won't half be pleased".
Spink looks like dean windass
VTID 💌
Sir Peter won man of the match ????unbelievable- was Sir Nigel by a mile !!!!
It was a poor season in the league and the turmoil after Ron Saunders left had us all feeling a bit lost that season. The European Cup run helped us keep our heads high and those 1981/82 legends saw us through. It's just a shame that Deadly Doug came back to Villa after that and dismantled the lot instead of investing - but that was Doug. Balance the books first and take it from there.
That didn't really sum up Nigel Spinks performance in that game. It wasn't just is second game he was epic.
Why’d I think that was Randy Orton in the right
I'm a villa fan but why were there so many empty seats?
Football Hooliganism was at it's peak, I'm a passionate Villa fan but we were so close to being chucked out after the trouble at Anderlecht in the Semi Final, the empty seats on the side would have been neutral / locals seats & they stayed away thinking there would be trouble between an English & German team
@MaxCady8182 I always wondered why that was. Thanks
Absolute Heroes
