I’m a Forest supporter and was so glad OUR FORMER Centre forward,Peter Withe got the winner for you guys.He helped us win the title in 1977/78 with his strike partner Tony Woodcock and was disappointed when he was sold the following season.Amazing to think that the European Cup stayed in England for SIX YEARS.Liverpool winning it in 77,78 and 81,Forest in 79 and 80,then Villa in 82.That’s how good club football was in England.Great times.

Ive had the pleasure of working with Spinksy for the past 5 years, as a villa fan i have asked him about the final time and time again, he is one of the most humblest men i have ever met, his stories and football knowledge is truly incredible, Aston Villa Legend! for ever a true Villan and one of the best in my books regardless of how many games he actually played for us. he gave us something that only a select few teams are good enough to get their hands on. UTV!!!💜💙

This was brilliantly made. And I’ll be honest, we could have done with more of that squad being there sharing their stories.
I’ve been fortunate enough to meet most of the squad and over a beer they tell you their stories. But there’s something about Spinks feeling the emotions of being there and painting the picture. Up the Villa and the 82 boys.

Can still see the seats where my brother, Paul, his friend Dinky Bell & I stood on the upper tier as I watch and listen to Kenny and Nig.' That ecstatic moment and the goosebumps come, tears too! One can never thank the players enough for what they achieved. I had the immense privilege of meeting Nigel as I walked towards the Fanzone stage to talk of a love of Villa and of ACORNS. On thanking him, Nigel said he enjoyed it, to which I replied "not as much as your Mum!" Legends forever! Up The MIGHTY Villa!

Diehard Wolves fan here. My best mates Dad had a box at the Villa during 80-81 season …we were both 11 yrs old.
We went to every home game at the Villa and the following Saturday stood at the Wolves.
Villa were Outstanding for a good 14 months and still to this day are the best side I’ve ever seen.
I remember watching the European Cup on ITV and after the Game it went to the Adverts and one of the adverts was a Davenports …
Which simply said Congratulations Aston Villa from your club sponsors DAVENPORTS.

i watched Villa vs Bayern Munich game on telly live when i was 12 years old in Malaysia. I had all the villa posters from Shoot magazine pasted on the walls of my roon at home - Cowans, Morley, Shaw, Withe....My Mum was real mad at me.
And now at 58 I'm still a die-hard villa fan, Sure do recall Spinks, Rimmers, Swain, Mortimer, McNaught, Evans , Little, Gray ...
My VIlla journey started with the Villa Subuteo team i had as a kid, whilst the others pick other teams.

I was twenty five - 68 now - and (until it actually happened in my late 50s) I thought I would never be closer to having a heart attack than I was that night. First from the stress - Bayern seemed to be all over us at times - and then from the amounts of alcohol consumed after the game, followed by the hangover from hell 🤣. It's just a shame I'm no longer fit enough to go to games now. I'd love to be there tonight, even if it was just for old times sake. UTV VTID

Such a fantastic visit down memory lane with absolute legends with our great club. I was too young to remember the final but I've met all the squad many times over the years chatting about their experiences of being champions of Europe and I had great pleasure when my daughter met Dennis Mortimer for the 40th anniversary celebrations. Living in Devon none of her school friends have had the accolade of meeting a European Cup winning captain.

It was a poor season in the league and the turmoil after Ron Saunders left had us all feeling a bit lost that season. The European Cup run helped us keep our heads high and those 1981/82 legends saw us through. It's just a shame that Deadly Doug came back to Villa after that and dismantled the lot instead of investing - but that was Doug. Balance the books first and take it from there.
