    Well 1st- CONGRATS on the engagement 😃 Also, Thanks for uploading this vid, myself (& others) in the researching stage/phase... And if anyone else is interested, this guy doesn't appear to work for James Allen, it's not a paid ad video, this is a genuine customer with truly amazing, impressive results.
    So far James Allen is in the lead- BY A LONG SHOT!
    Fyi- Thank you for that info on Jared & their color clarity.

    Your diamond actually does not have a cut grade since it is a princess cut. GIA does not give out cut grades for shapes other than the Round Brilliant cut. You are mistaking Symmetry and polish for a cut grade which it isn't. You are correct about getting a much higher color and clarity online at a much better price than they offer in most chain stores, but diamonds usually almost always appraise for at least 2 times what you pay for them. It is also a very very bad idea to insure your diamond for the appraisal value, it just doubles your premium with little benefit. If something really does happen to your diamond, your insurance company will give you the actually replacement cost of your ring which would be around what you paid for it. For insuring rings, its much better to just insure it for the price you paid+10% just for safety, instead of twice what you paid.

    • @TheRealReviewz
      @TheRealReviewz  5 лет назад

      My insurance broker said they pay full appraised amount. In cases when ring was passed down for generations no purchase history is found as an example so they don’t look at what you paid for it but what it’s worth. He might be mistaken but that’s what I was told.

    • @forgiven5377
      @forgiven5377 5 лет назад

      @@TheRealReviewz You might want to check on that because that's not how it works in most cases. They will pay the replacement cost, IE what it actually cost to replace, UP TO the value of the full appraised amount. So if the actually cost to replace was $7,000 they would send you $7,000, not the $12,000 you are insured up to. Anyway, you might be overpaying for the insurance by over 50% if you overestimate the value of your ring.

    An appraisal is just an opinion of what something is worth. Same with appraisals for a house.

    • @TheRealReviewz
      @TheRealReviewz  4 года назад +2

      Absolutely but an opinion that your insurance company uses to pay you if you lose it. So the better diamond the better appraisal.

    It's very common for diamond rings to appraise for double. That doesnt mean its worth what it is appraised for.

    • @rfehr613
      @rfehr613 5 лет назад +6

      That's why appraisals from a jewelery store are unreliable. There's a major conflict of interest. You should always use an independent appraiser. That said, for the purposes of insurance it really doesn't matter that much so long as it wasn't undervalued or massively overvalued. I do question whether your ring is bordering on the latter, because i did months of research on princess and cushion stones in that range between James Allen and Blue Nile and that Jared appraisal is off the charts. I don't know enough about the insurance aspect, but I'd make sure the insurance company has no way to back out of a claim payment by saying the appraisal is bunk. You'd be the one getting burned in the end.

    • @usfanlovesjiwoo1978
      @usfanlovesjiwoo1978 3 года назад

      @@TheRealReviewz actually my engagement ring is from Jared's and it's absolutely stunning and very high quality. So it's unfair of you to say that you will not find that type of quality at a Jared.

    • @usfanlovesjiwoo1978
      @usfanlovesjiwoo1978 3 года назад

      @@rfehr613 any appraisals only good for insurance anyway. No matter what the ring is appraised for even an independent Gia appraiser if you try to sell it to a jeweler, pawn shop, eBay you will never get what its appraised for.

      @@TheRealReviewz That is so not true. BN stated in 2020 that their diamonds are from Canada, Australia, Africa and Russia. Since the war with Ukraine not all diamonds from Russia are banned by the USA so all jewelers might still be getting diamonds from Russia which includes JA. Also Blue Nile only sells diamonds graded by GIA and only GIA. James Allen sells GIA, AGS, IGI and one other and they also sell non certified diamonds. Blue Nile is Very reputable and I have bought jewelry from them, my future son in law bought my daughters engagement ring from them and it is absolutely gorgeous. Signet just purchased Blue Nile in late 2022 and completed all the red tape in early 2023 so they are now in the Signet family as well, but Signet is going to keep BN operating as they have been so that is great news. As far as confirming where the diamonds come from GIA uses matching technology to determine the stone's geographic origin, so how is BN not disclosing it?? Don't get me wrong, I also like James Allen and I buy from both but why JA does not always show the GIA report number on the reports is very odd to me. But anyway, I think a person cannot go wrong shopping from either BN or JA and had to defend BN since I have experience with them and would buy again in a heart beat.
