It's no accident that starlights friends fit so well with sunburst. think about the complex she had about sunburst over the years. building him up in her mind as a perfect ideal of a friend. "no two ponies had more in common." don't you think she would be attracted to friends who mirror aspects of him?
I just realized something: Twilight somewhat predicted all of Starlight's episodes in the season premiere. Helping the changelings (To Change a Changeling) Hanging out with Ember (Triple Threat) Hanging out with Sunburst (Uncommon Bond)
Also she pretty much predicted that they'll open a black hole portal in the finale :q (didn't they also mention retrieving some object from the distant past?)
On yeah that's right! In fact the only thing that i can think of that Twilight said in the premiere that Starlight's yet to do was to go, when she thought that Starlight was ready to leave, so that might mean in Season 8 that Starlight might...oh no. Now i'm kinda worried because I really like Starlight, and i'm not ready for her to go!
18:34 Sunburst: "You made up this spell? Just now?" Luffy: "I don't know what it is, cause I can't read scribble." Nice job predicting Starlight's sloppy hornwriting an episode ahead of time!
Also hidden brillance: Sunburst TRIES to read Starlight´s terrible hornwritting (after many years without having to do it, since it is implied she never sent him letters... or he never could understand them!), and here he just desist after a few seconds [this explains why he does not know what the spell will do to him].
Twilight is the overachiever who is the top of the class, Trixie is the stuck up one, Maud is the one who has trouble expressing emotion, and Starlight is the yandere.
I love how Trixie Seems to adore having a whole barrel full of friends, definitely a far cry from the angry loner she was in boast busters and magic duel. Loved the Reaction Luffy Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the finale. :)
Good point. Maybe that's yet another reason why Starlight and Trixie connected so well. Not only was they both ex-villains, but they both wanted friends, and like how Starlight took it really hard when she thought that she lost Sunburst her first(?) friend as a filly, Trixie also took it really hard when it looked like she lost Starlight, her first friend.
I felt that as well. Like she was surprised (In her own Maud way) that another pony was interested in something she was. And was excited about it (again in her own Maud way). XD.
This was a great episode, I had already been able to relate to Starlight before this but I could relate to her even more after this episode. This episode definitely felt more like it was for the older fans then the younger fans, oh sure the younger fans could understand it with their friend moving away and all that, but it definitely felt more like it was catered towards the older fans like the teenagers and adults which is cool when they do it. Some great interactions, and dang Sunburst gets all of the girls, lol. Just kidding with that. (Or am I?!) XD. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
It would make sense. His "job" is to mantain the clock tower of Ponyville (probably not enough well paid for him to get all of that sciency machinery); so by having also an antique shop he can get all kinds of crazy stuff for very cheap [specially if he is also a pawnbroker].
an episode with Trixie and Maud in it... BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!! this was such a great episode. loved your reactions to this Luffy, cant wait to see how you'll react to the final
What if the majority of ponies were actually nudists and the small percent of ponies that weren't are the ones who wear clothes and get uncomfortable being without them like sunburst but it's also normal for them to see most other ponies without clothes
Glad you got some sleep, Luffy. Playing catch-up is fine and all, but don’t wear yourself down. Remember Fluttershy in A Health of Information? =P Best to be well-rested for what the finale has to offer. This was another sweet but sad episode, and a good one for the last regular episode before the finale. First, the sweet, lol. Bringing Sunburst back to hang out with Starlight was so heartwarming to see. He’s her oldest friend, and one of the most important ponies in her life. That she’s so eager to spend time with him, and he in turn is happy to spend time with her, warms the heart, despite how long they’ve spent apart from each other. Seeing them play that game of Dragon Pit in the beginning, like old times, was equally sweet, and cutely funny, too. Since there wasn’t that much onscreen interaction between them before, I’ve been more in favor of shipping Starlight with Trixie, but this episode gave valid evidence in favor of Starlight and Sunburst being a couple. =) And he doesn’t just have chemistry with Glimms, either. He struck up good friendships with Twilight (a pony he already idolized and is almost as big an adorkable goof as, lol), Trixie, and Maud. It was so sweet seeing how well he got along with them all, especially since they all have the shared distinction of feeling like outsiders compared to other ponies, having little common ground with anypony else. I was also glad to see Sunburst finally get some characterization and expansion with his other interests, besides reading and magic: antiquing, stage magic, and geology. Really fleshes him out and puts him on equal ground with the new friends he makes. =) Now, the sad. This episode also showed Starlight’s feelings of alienation when she didn’t seem able to connect with Sunburst the way she used to. She saw how well he clicked with her other friends, and wondered why she couldn’t do the same, since they were inseparable when they were foals. Sure, she achieved a small victory in that game of Dragon Pit, but what then? It’s a sobering and realistic issue I think many of us face: we see old friends and family members we haven’t seen in years, only to realize that the things we used to have in common and bond over have diminished or disappeared completely. It’s a hard thing to reconcile with, and it feels like what happened in Forever Filly, when Rarity realized Sweetie Belle had grown past the things they used to do. This is taken to extremes when Starlight writes and casts that ‘magical holodeck’ spell to have them relive their foalhood days as their foalhood selves, only for Sunburst to angrily call her out on it. It shows that she’s a little stuck in the past; being cut off from Sunburst for so long at such a young age essentially froze time for her, so that all she could think to do to reconnect with him was resort to what they used to do to bond. And, as Twilight remarked, Starlight does have a tendency to ‘overdo’, being a pony largely driven by emotion and gut instinct. It’s a sad thing for poor Glimmy, and shows just how much Sunburst’s friendship meant to her. Seeing Sunburst stress about not knowing what they had in common anymore himself was also sad. And, if any people are doing so, Sunburst shouldn’t be chastised for making Starlight feel left out. He wasn’t doing it on purpose. He was just caught up and excited in finding these connections he had with Starlight’s friends. In Twilight’s case, it was more pronounced because, as he admitted, he never expected a pony he idolized to be so fun to hang out with. And beyond that, he _did_ try to include Starlight in the fun they were having. _She_ was the one faking enthusiasm and pretending she was all right with what was going on. It’s like how Twilight was acting in Once Upon a Zeppelin; her family was concerned, but she insisted she was fine. Thankfully, we have the adorable ending of all of Starlight’s friends chipping in to make an adult-sized game of Dragon Pit. Sunburst may not have wanted to play the game by being a foal again, but he knew how much it meant to Starlight, so he found a way to make it work for them as grownups. A very sweet gesture on all their parts, I have to say. It gives rise to a great moral, too: common interests may be a good foundation on starting a friendship, but it’s not always necessary to keep it going. It’s often just enough that you’re enjoying the company of your friends in what you’re doing, sharing the fun. As long as the both of you still want to be friends, it doesn’t mean your friendship is over. I think Starlight and Sunburst are gonna be just fine, especially with so many friends behind them. A sad but sweet episode, as I said. =) Some various notes: -Hey, Sunburst, Rarity called! She wants her luggage back. XD -Who’s got a cuter blush, Glimms or Twi? Hard to choose, both are so adorable. =) -Glimms during the whole antique shop scene is a lot like me when I’m forced to go on errands; bored out of my mind, just waiting for it to end, lol -‘No risk, no reward’, is basically how that Old Ponish phrase goes, I imagine -‘When is Twilight _not_ adorable?’ ...Is that a rhetorical question? XD -Can I just say how much I love Kelly Sheridan’s voice as Starlight? The musical way she calls out ‘Knock-knock’ is just beautiful. =) -Seems Sunburst feels naked without his cloak, especially when a mare walks in on him in bed, lol. -Who could possibly say no to that sweet Starlight smile?
A "life sized" version of "Dragon Pit" may raise safety concerns regarding posible injuries when people had to fall... -> Unless they combine it with that game from the MLP 2017 Movie credits [it will take a lot of power to keep everything inflated with enough pressure to safely dampen a 150+ kg brony falling 2 meters on any position, but is something that should be able to be done].
The best thing about the ending is how it feels like a "random side-quest" would be picked up by someone on a MMORPG... but then by visiting the secret place it "talks about" it starts an EPIC QUEST.
So at about 24:01 we see two magical auras around Sunbursts stuff. One's Twilight's and the other is Trixie. While Twilight is casually levitating the stuff we see Trixie visibly struggling to carry it. That's actually a really cool detail.
This really was a great, fun Starlight episode, really brought her entire circle of friends together well, and a nice little calm, slice of life breather before the flat out epicness of the finale... and now to wait for the reaction to that because, holy buck is that going to be awesome to see!
22:40 Sunburst: "We had to take out a few space to get it to fit, but you hardly miss them!" I bet that line was added just to head off complaints from obsessed, nitpicking fans.
Yeah... now explain me what is the supposed porpouse for that "dark, secret basement" under the library... The Chest "absorbed" all of the Mane Six inside of it for a few seconds before "evolving" them into their "Rainbow SuperForms" (this is probably how it got to know that Twilight was currently homeless in S4E26). I do wonder if where Sunburst fell is an equivalent of that "secret compartment" Spike discovered in the Golden Oaks Library containing the book with the Legend of the Mirror "Pond" [S3E03]; given the fact that the place and episode was explicitly referenced in this one.
06:10 Starlight does NOT care (or like) rocks/geology. . If she did, she would have not needed the help of Maud to find a crystal wall big enough to contain dozens of cutiemarks [as she would have known where to look, specially since she just happened to build "Our Little Village" near one]. -> Maud even pointed out in this episode that is their personalities and mutual "forever_alone-ness" what keeps them together; like "alcoholic anonymous" friends. ex: Maud does not care about kites (or anything related to "air" for that matter); but she will try her best to find some aspect of them interesting for her; so she can get mild enjoyment [while Starlight feels extatic], playing with them. -> Something similar may have happened with her sister Pinkie and baloons/parties.
10:20 When she is terrifying! . _"...I will MAKE a Friendship Problem"_ / _"Hi gurlZ!"_ [S2E03] . _"I have to STOP TIME!"_ [S2E20] . _"I did´nt understand magic before, but I do now!"_ [Sci!Twi as Midnight Sparkle]
11:00 If the first one was a hoofkick on Starlight´s face (and the second a horn stab in her heart); that last one was DECAPITATION!. 11:15 This would be spiting on her (still warm) corpse and setting it on fire.
Well of course she wasn't into rocks waaaay back then lol. I was talking about since she first bonded with Maud. "They're beautiful and strong, but they don't judge you or make you feel less than in any way. I think I'm starting to like rocks too."
And of course I noticed the background music. The ending note was quite obvious since it's been used many times before. That's why the book was of extra intrigue, because I KNEW the music meant it would be important (as well as the glimmer).
I always thought the "secret surprise final villain" would be Maud Pie [so far she is the only pony who had "defeated" the mane six on everything they do, even getting them to "surrender" their "friendship attempts" [going back to her own home (the Rock Farm) to do it].
10:05 "Aw, that's a cool board game." I think the design of Dragon Pit was based off the game Fireball Island (1986). ruclips.net/video/AfA6KxGAdOk/видео.html
To be fair, so does a bunch of magical stuff. That's kinda why it's incorporated into Starswirl's design, because it's something associated with magic in general.
Trixie only did the age spell because of the corrupted amulet. And I don't think it was a age spell, I think it was more like a hologram or something like that.
Its interesting how equestria seems to be developing more advanced technology, also mildly alarming, if they make a trade deal with the zebras trading gems for coal we may have a problem.
Fun reaction. Hope you're feeling better now. Can't wait to see your reaction to the season seven finale. (QUESTION) Will you be reacting to any of the new Equestria Girls stuff? That's the 3 specials "Dance Magic", "Movie Magic" and "Mirror Magic" and also 16 summertime shorts and music videos and so far 11 shorts and music videos for the new digital youtube series and 31 more on the way. For the digital youtube series it is kind of confusing for me on how it will work. So far we've gotten shorts and music videos but I hope it will at least have 6 to. hopefully 26 episodes with 11 minute run times. (Kind of like what hasbro did with their first digital series, "Hanazuki".) Hope to to see your reaction to some more Equestria Girls stuff soon. Thank you and have a nice day.
Oh ok then. (darn, but If you don't mind me asking...) Have you enjoyed what you have seen of new Equestria Girls stuff? What are your favorite parts? Thoughts on the youtube series? Final question, what is the one thing you hope to see the most in Equestria Girls? Anyways thank you for your time and thank you for responding to my comment. Again hope you feel better since when you recorded these reactions and can't wait to see your reaction to mlp season 7 finale. Thank you and have a nice day.
- Yes, I've enjoyed very much! - My favourite parts are the songs! I love the overall sound of the EQG music. - The youtube series is cute and funny, long may it continue! - I hope to see more songs!
I too enjoy the songs. I think my personal favorite is "Good Vibes" followed quickly by "Coinky-Dink World" with "Monday Blues" and "My Past is not Today" fighting for third place. I hope to see Sunset finally meet up with Princess Celestia. Also I get this feeling that Equestria Girls might slowly resemble a magical girl series by a certain degree by time we are done. (I think that might just be due to the magical girl styled outfits from Legend of Everfree though.)
I think Sunburst was very rude and cold. He didn't try to connect to Starlight as well. He was invited by Starlight and he was spending time with her friends not even questioning if she was there or not. He didn't try to talk with her. I would feel abandoned to. Again, he was her guest. Talking about Twilight and impling she is the only reason he wants to wake up for example...uh. Also, they were pen pals. Weren't they writting to each other ? Shouldn't they be closer ?
Hey, just a PSA, apparently there's more stuff leaking like a sieve everywhere, including incomplete versions of the first six freaking episodes of season 8! Just thought someone should let you know. There's some EQG stuff too but you haven't been reacting to that so I figured it was less important to avoid.
I think this warning as well placed. -> You are a blind reactor to the FiM show. You may feel the temptation to look for things done based on the S7 finale [thinking "it is safe now" that you "catched up" with the rest of the fandom].
Sunburst was total asshole towards Starlight and it kinda ruined the episode for me. I felt so bad for Starlight. He didn't even try to do anything with her.
It's no accident that starlights friends fit so well with sunburst.
think about the complex she had about sunburst over the years.
building him up in her mind as a perfect ideal of a friend.
"no two ponies had more in common."
don't you think she would be attracted to friends who mirror aspects of him?
I just realized something: Twilight somewhat predicted all of Starlight's episodes in the season premiere.
Helping the changelings (To Change a Changeling)
Hanging out with Ember (Triple Threat)
Hanging out with Sunburst (Uncommon Bond)
David indeed she did.
Wow that's weird, weird but cool. Wonder if that was intentional or not. (Probably not, just something cool to notice).
I don't normally say things like this, buuut.....Sunburst = Ultimate Waifu Stealer. XD Can't wait to see your reaction to the finale!!
Out of nowhere he scored a hat trick out of poor Starlight's harem!
He certainly unveiled himself as the true waifu stealer of the show.
Honestly, my favorite part of this episode is the fact that the thing that Sunburst and Trixie have in common is that they both suck at magic.
18:34 Sunburst: "You made up this spell? Just now?"
Luffy: "I don't know what it is, cause I can't read scribble."
Nice job predicting Starlight's sloppy hornwriting an episode ahead of time!
Also hidden brillance: Sunburst TRIES to read Starlight´s terrible hornwritting (after many years without having to do it, since it is implied she never sent him letters... or he never could understand them!), and here he just desist after a few seconds [this explains why he does not know what the spell will do to him].
Sunburst has a harem now
Twilight is the overachiever who is the top of the class, Trixie is the stuck up one, Maud is the one who has trouble expressing emotion, and Starlight is the yandere.
Season 3
Trixie: no one can do those spells
Twilight: you're right, no even me
Starlight: 19:00
I love how Trixie Seems to adore having a whole barrel full of friends, definitely a far cry from the angry loner she was in boast busters and magic duel. Loved the Reaction Luffy Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the finale. :)
Because she finally learnt how to _make_ friends ;)
Funny enough, I felt like Maud actually did express a sort of excitement when she said "You know about geology?"
I felt that too. I guess she too likes to talk with someone who knows the stuff she is passionate about.
It was subtle but it was there.
I felt that as well. Like she was surprised (In her own Maud way) that another pony was interested in something she was. And was excited about it (again in her own Maud way). XD.
Because finally somepony "gets it" ;J
In that moment, she winked a little very fast...
11:09 "I'm feeling the knives being dragged across her back right now!"
And unlike Rarity, this unicorn isn't a masochist.
Not a single reacter has caught that Boulder used the mirror pool to clone himself.
Well, despite being visible, it's not exactly jumping out of the screen demanding to be noticed.
XD.
I think the antique shop is owned by Doctor Whooves
It would make sense. His "job" is to mantain the clock tower of Ponyville (probably not enough well paid for him to get all of that sciency machinery); so by having also an antique shop he can get all kinds of crazy stuff for very cheap [specially if he is also a pawnbroker].
I love your reaction when Sunburst pretty much just shattered Starlight's glass heart into dust particles, by gushing about Twilight.
1:58 "I love Starlight. She's bae."
Best Archmage Ever?
Boulder jumps in mirror pool at 22:00.
LOL IT'S TRUE! :D
Even Maud seems to be surprised by seeing the two of them :D
Alternate title for this episode: Sunburst's Harem
So close to a spit take when you saw Trixie drag Maud into that hug. 😂
an episode with Trixie and Maud in it... BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!
this was such a great episode.
loved your reactions to this Luffy, cant wait to see how you'll react to the final
Raining in the Rockfarm? [reference]
What if the majority of ponies were actually nudists and the small percent of ponies that weren't are the ones who wear clothes and get uncomfortable being without them like sunburst but it's also normal for them to see most other ponies without clothes

-Glimms during the whole antique shop scene is a lot like me when I’m forced to go on errands; bored out of my mind, just waiting for it to end, lol
-‘No risk, no reward’, is basically how that Old Ponish phrase goes, I imagine
-‘When is Twilight _not_ adorable?’ ...Is that a rhetorical question? XD
-Can I just say how much I love Kelly Sheridan’s voice as Starlight? The musical way she calls out ‘Knock-knock’ is just beautiful. =)
-Seems Sunburst feels naked without his cloak, especially when a mare walks in on him in bed, lol.
-Who could possibly say no to that sweet Starlight smile?
A "life sized" version of "Dragon Pit" may raise safety concerns regarding posible injuries when people had to fall...

21:53.
Maud: well at least it's not serious.
Sunburst: Excuse me.
Maud: that. Was a joke.
Me: XD.

8:58 "I do like their bond. It's cute."
But is it uncommon?
the sunburst freaking out that he and starlight has nothing to connect over anything anymore around maud XD hello male twilight
Sunburst + Twilight is a new ship of mine!
This is a great episode. The characters are all great. The conflict with Starlight is interesting. Starlight doing an age like spell is interesting.
22:40 Sunburst: "We had to take out a few space to get it to fit, but you hardly miss them!"
I bet that line was added just to head off complaints from obsessed, nitpicking fans.
Yeah... now explain me what is the supposed porpouse for that "dark, secret basement" under the library...

Hey! Look, Luffy! I found one of them! :)
17:10 Mostly because he's socializing with other nerdy ponies ;J
Are you talking from experience?
Yup. Nerds unite :) Who else can save Equestria when non-nerdy ponies run away? :q
7:43 Where else would the Pony Doctor works when not in the Ponyville Antic Shop?
can't wait to see your reaction to the finale :D
10:20 When she is terrifying!
. _"...I will MAKE a Friendship Problem"_ / _"Hi gurlZ!"_ [S2E03]
. _"I have to STOP TIME!"_ [S2E20]
24:30 You got distracted talking to the camera you did not noticed the sudden shift on the background music to TRULY Dark & OMINOUS.
"How to take over Equestria, Vol. 3". Sunburst, you were supposed to give that back two moons ago!
I always thought the "secret surprise final villain" would be Maud Pie [so far she is the only pony who had "defeated" the mane six on everything they do, even getting them to "surrender" their "friendship attempts" [going back to her own home (the Rock Farm) to do it].
Now, just the finale reaction. You are the last one I am waiting on.
So you don't watch SmurfVlogs?
im waiting for flaming shark and smurf too.
10:05 "Aw, that's a cool board game."
I think the design of Dragon Pit was based off the game Fireball Island (1986). ruclips.net/video/AfA6KxGAdOk/видео.html
I wonder if HASBRO bought the rights for that game...
As for Sunburst and Trixie shipping - they both wear capes. If that is not a perfect reason for relationship I don't know what is.
Go back to the scene with Sunburst and Maud talking at the mirror pool. Pay CLOSE attention to Boulder
Why? What did one of the two of them?
24:35
...it literally has a swirl on the cover. lol.
To be fair, so does a bunch of magical stuff.
That's kinda why it's incorporated into Starswirl's design, because it's something associated with magic in general.
Rarity taught him well.
I thought that only Trixie could do an aging spell!!!
Trixie only did the age spell because of the corrupted amulet. And I don't think it was a age spell, I think it was more like a hologram or something like that.
It would make perfect sense if it _was_ an age spell, though. Starlight Glimmer _is_ the highest level unicorn, after all.
Finale. Do it! Just do it!
Don't all antique stores look smaller from the outside?
Its interesting how equestria seems to be developing more advanced technology, also mildly alarming, if they make a trade deal with the zebras trading gems for coal we may have a problem.
23:30 Oh no! You found Twilight's dungeon!
we have the same orange cup xD
nice reaction
You like Avril Lavigne too?! I love "Crush"! Nice choice in songs.
Didn't Sunburst just feel like one of those generic anime protagonist males??
He's pretty much Negi from Mahou Sensei Negima.
Kiss all the mares! Steal all the waifus!
10:10 - 10:15 This is adorable.
Fun reaction. Hope you're feeling better now. Can't wait to see your reaction to the season seven finale.
(QUESTION)
Will you be reacting to any of the new Equestria Girls stuff?
That's the 3 specials "Dance Magic", "Movie Magic" and "Mirror Magic" and also 16 summertime shorts and music videos and so far 11 shorts and music videos for the new digital youtube series and 31 more on the way. For the digital youtube series it is kind of confusing for me on how it will work. So far we've gotten shorts and music videos but I hope it will at least have 6 to. hopefully 26 episodes with 11 minute run times. (Kind of like what hasbro did with their first digital series, "Hanazuki".)
Hope to to see your reaction to some more Equestria Girls stuff soon.
Thank you and have a nice day.
I chose to watch the EQG stuff on my own, since I'd rather focus on reacting to the rest of Overlord, followed by RWBY & Star VS catchups.
Oh ok then. (darn, but If you don't mind me asking...)
Have you enjoyed what you have seen of new Equestria Girls stuff?
4:27 Oh silly Luffy, he didn't arrive with that book. XD
This is my sixth favorite episode of the season and my eighth favorite episode of the series.
Dragon Pit reminds me of Mouse Trap
He stole all of Rarity's lugages 😂
Luffy says get spike I agree
Protip; Don´t listen to The Residents "Not Available (Extended Version) songs; "Edweena" & "The Making of a Soul" while watching this episode.
This is my second favorite episode of the season. 😊
Changed my mind. Now it's my first favorite. lol
Finally 24. episode! :D And now? Finale please. :)
Poor Starli 💖💖.
Hey, just a PSA, apparently there's more stuff leaking like a sieve everywhere, including incomplete versions of the first six freaking episodes of season 8! Just thought someone should let you know. There's some EQG stuff too but you haven't been reacting to that so I figured it was less important to avoid.
Luckily, I don't frequent any sources of pony imagery, so I should be okay for avoiding spoilers.
Still, these are crazy times. Jeez...
I think this warning as well placed.
-> You are a blind reactor to the FiM show. You may feel the temptation to look for things done based on the S7 finale [thinking "it is safe now" that you "catched up" with the rest of the fandom].
Starlight Glimmer is my favorite pony she has the worst mind like me
Are you gonna be prsent at MCM London, Confuzzled or somewhere else?
Nope sorry, I don't get around much.
22:44 Simpsons theme in the background? Or at least a ripoff.
Whoa, first "Family Guy", then "Pinky and the Brain", and now this :D
Sunburst was total asshole towards Starlight and it kinda ruined the episode for me. I felt so bad for Starlight. He didn't even try to do anything with her.
