Gram Parsons and Clarence White should have been put in Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, when they put the rest of The Byrds in. Parsons led The Byrds to pioneer Country Rock, on this LP and with The Flying Burrito Brothers. Clarence White, and his great guitar work appeared on several Byrd tracks before this LP, then became a full time member of the Band (1968-72) during their Country Rock years, and along with Gene Parsons, invented the B-Bender.

Interesting vocal. I like the way Parson's deliberately lags behind the beat. Yea, it's too bad Gram was such a flake. He might have lived longer and gone on to write and sing more, though I rather hear Roger sing any day.
I know. Not what you guys want to hear, but listen to the first studio version of Old Blue for just one example. I love McGuinn's singing.

What a great track. Gram Parson's superb vocals, Clarence White's amazing pre-B-bender licks...and Lloyd Maines (?) pedal steel. What a great song. I think this is one of Gram's greatest songs and here's to the Byrds, too!
But seriously, nobody knows what kind of trouble we're in. Nobody seems to think, it all might happen again...And Gram wrote that in 67.

Will the people still feel this way
Still say the things that they're sayin' right now
    Everyone said I hurt you,
They said that I desert you
    If I go away,
You know I'm going to get back somehow
Nobody knows what kind of trouble there is
Nobody seems to think it all might happen again
One hundred years from this time
    Would anybody change their minds
And find out one thing or two about life
    But people are always talking
    You know they're always talking
    Everybody's so wrong

Its such a shame for music Parson left this world too early. I can only imagine how much impact would have been brought to world of music if Parsons and Byrds continued producing such masterpiece music. Imagine how would influence contemporaries like The Eagles, Marshall Tucker Band, The Band, Allman Brothers, maybe in some way even Lynyrd Skynyrd. And how would maybe even keep country music real country.
And guys, dont do fucking opioids, dont take this shit, its only temporary pleasure that eventually becomes downward spiral. Life is so much greater than this. Im so sad when I saw great influence of country music, state of West Virginia being devestated by opioids. Life is bigger than this. Seek help, there is always candle in the dark.

I went to both shows by myself as none of my friends wanted to go hear that country & western shit.
Now they say to me, “Shit Emmett, why didn’t you MAKE us go?” Haha
