  • I dropped by the nearby dinosaur museum in Wembley. I don't think I've ever seen my car so filthy driving here. It was a nice experience.
The good points of Grande Prairie... late night golfing.
In winter, you can try your riding skills with some snowmobiling.

I grew up in Dallas near a suburban city also called Grand Prairie. I always heard Alberta is Canada's Texas, but damn. I think there might be MORE trucks and SUVs on the road than in DFW. And the two places are identically conducive to suburban vertigo. Good music choice!

I don't think many of those trucks even fit in their garages.

Grand Prairie is actually pretty small and remote compared to other cities. It's basically our equivalent of... *checks map of Texas*... Amarillo? Lubbock? Abeliene? I'm just using cities I vaguely remember hearing the name of, those are all quite a bit bigger than GP. But yeah, in terms of distance and size relative to other cities, it's close enough.
Also, I'm pretty sure it has a higher number of lifted trucks per capita than most other cities in Alberta (which is saying something). Lots of redneck/dudebro types there

      @@emmmab all good!
Love crystal lake - we bought another house in a neighbourhood that would be considered northern GP called royal oaks and the neighbours tell us that the homeless in the summer pop around here sometimes but crystal lake is awesome
Super safe and clean - I would go for runs and walks from around 6am to 11pm and never a problem or sketchy folks day or night. That is crystal lake estates on the east side of crystal lake park,
On the west side of crystal lake park the neighbourhood is more mature and a large trailer park exists and I am not too sure how it is around there

The oil boom of the late 2000's/early 2010's attracted alot of younger male workers from all over Canada. If it has the "most dangerous" designation, it's probably because of that. In a weird way, i'm sort of thankful for the oil bust around 2015, otherwise Grande Prairie would still be attracting that type of crowd.
I just wish the economy was a little bit better than it is right now -- it's pretty bad as of 2021.

If you're not an outdoorsy type, there's one rundown cinema, an okay library, small museum, and a LOT of liquor stores for the size of this town.
