I know many people in theirs 30s whos lives are still controlled by their parents... You don't need permission from your parents to do what you want in your life with an adult. Being a good child means that you support and love your parents just like they loved and supported you because that's being grateful. That has nothing to do with having to agree with them or listening to what they want you to do. They think they are giving you advice from their perspective with your best interests in mind, and those opinions can hold value, but that's a situation where you can take their points and then critically think through if they hold merit or not to you.
Talking from experience, The typical stereotypes they use to comprehend, which they fail for the reluctance they have indulged prior to what they have concluded, is grossly incoherent, and nonsensical to the core. It would suffice to move on if not with the ultimatum of incoherence in life as such.
