Best Tip: Fire in chokepoints. Your job as an archer isn't to kill people, don't try to chase and shoot down that guy from 50m away that has 1hp left. Deny those chokepoints and if someone dares step forward punish them by prefireing. Also, focusing enemy archers is a priority, if they are shooting at you then they aren't shooting at your team.
I like setting other archers on fire. Fun part is having your own nemesis archer. And it's good when you can support one of your guys being attacked by five enemies.
I have literally played 10 matches and settled on archer since it seemed to be the best way for *me* to be effective. One game I kept getting really solid kill shots on one knight on the other team....so he switched to archer and we basically just dueled the rest of the round.
Thanks for the tips. Archer is an underrated class that people hate on because of the players who pick them and play stupidly. The class isn’t inherently flawed, it’s just that a lot of people don’t use the archer right.
I've been playing with 2-3 other dudes. We've found that when I'm playing archer and supporting them at range - we all end up doing way better. I'm never top scorer, but I definitely help them land more kills by weakening dudes, or even causing some dudes to back off and look for a fight else where. Archer is fun, but you really need to learn the maps and be able to read the dynamic of the battle as it unfolds. Positioning is always key
"Fighting archers as an archer is useless and a waste of time" Tell that to your team as they're getting mowed down by archers lol. If you're an archer, do your thing until you see an enemy archer start firing on your team, then make them a priority. I contribute a lot to my team as an archer, that means the other guy can as well, and I don't want that.
I disagree you waste so much time trying to shoot someone who is dodging you thats the vanguards job. I'd rather do dmg to people that i can guarantee.
Coming from Chiv 1 I will say that the majority of people who complained about Archers back then are probably the same ones that do it now. The Rainbowing 2H Ballerinas. I'd argue that you'd get more friendly staggering from noobs in melee than noobs from range.
I agree, I noticed that some of the "most strategic" players play archers in a lot of the cases. Actually thats my favorite part at playing archer, not sniping and what not, but using strategy/support for my team. Though i really enjoy playing knight and man-at-arms as well. Also i love the "roleplay factor" with archers, you know knights are the glorious assholes in shining plate, but as an archer you are basically poor-fuckin'-infantry
Archer is always my go to thanks to growing up watch lord of the rings. Got a bow etc for my 7th bday. I will always love archer class and sneaky classes.
I think the best thing you can do as an archer is to get really good at being able to reliably hit enemies who are in a 1v1 with a teammate. They will be significantly more likely to win their duel and you will free them up to go blindside a new enemy. This generally means staying close behind/with your team (not flanking an enemy wave, unless your intention is to draw enemies away from an objective and towards you). It can take a while to get good but once you get it, and with the right distance, you learn to recognize and anticipate when the coast is clear to take the shot, its a game-changer and you feel more like an active participant in the battle and not just passively playing the archery lottery from afar. As an archer you can get surprisingly close to a 1v1 and the enemy won't attack you because they cant afford to as long as they have their hands full. But if you shoot at an enemy not actively engaged in battle, they will often immediately go after you even if they're halfway across the map Choosing very high locations makes you easily targeted by enemy archers, and also when you are firing down on the field, you have to account for much more verticality in your aim which makes your shots less accurate. So height advantage is only really necessary when you are shooting at a crowd of enemies behind a choke point, and it can even work against you when you're supporting a teammate engaged in a 1v1. Additionally, use cover and keep moving while you are aiming. It's easier to hit enemies when you can "walk" into the correct aim while the right stick (or mouse) is barely moving, plus it makes you harder for enemy archers to hit. When using the war bow (which is the best bow by far), always prioritize scanning the field for enemy archers who are standing still and try and take them out by surprise in one shot. So many free kills this way with archers just standing still while aiming or crossbows reloading. But if you miss/get their attention and start firing at each other for longer than 2 or 3 shots, best to just reposition yourself where they can't see you and try to get them again at some point later. Always check your surroundings. If you thought you were by yourself and you hear footsteps, immediately pull out your secondary weapon and try to find where it's coming from. If it's an enemy it might be too late by that point, but it could save you especially if they don't have a direct path to get to you. You should try to avoid team damage, but keep it in perspective. If you're firing into a 1v1 duel and you hit your mate twice but you hit the enemy 3 or 4 times, then the enemy will be either dead or seriously rekt and your mate will have hardly any damage. Just don't fire randomly, always wait for the opening, and be especially careful if your arrows are on fire.
I started playing crossbow archer yesterday and I consistently stay around the top of the leaderboard. It’s all about positioning and awareness. If you want to run as archer: Longbow gets you more takedowns. Crossbow gets you more kills. I personally excel using cb but lb might work better for you. Of course it requires precision but once you start getting the hang of it, it’s literally shooting out people uncovered and it’s satisfying every time you land an arrow. Warning: Frequently watch your back 😂.
Whats worse, getting hit with the friendly fire arrows or getting smacked in the back of the head by 4 other teammates with giant swords and mauls everytime you engage in battle?
Archers should be helping the team nom stop. I'm literally sprinting and hitting everyone I can. I don't care for kills. I shot the enemy take half the health and my team can finish them off. I'm trying to making any fight my team is in easy for them. Turn their fight into a one hit kill. I am the support. - Archerheisenburg
I’ve noticed a lot of archers like to stay far away from the battle like they’re a sniper in cod. That doesn’t work for me. I get right behind a few teammates that are in a fight and pepper the dudes they’re fighting with a wall of ally’s protecting me. It works pretty well as long as you stay aware of how close the enemy is and getting away when they’re too close
@@dainestarbuck3326 Shield and short spear are super strong, plus you can throw it with Skirmisner. Taking objectives is far more important than poking people at range regardless.
