    This is clearly the BEST Descript tutorial that I have watched. I am a newbie to audio/video editing with Descript, and your teaching has simplified a very good, albeit detailed, program!! I sure hope you will make a video editing tutorial for Descript. THANK YOU!!

      I'm so glad to hear that! That honestly makes my day. By popular demand, I actually did end up adding more comprehensive tutorials to my online course Essential Podcast Editing, which is here if curious: witandwire.com/courses/essential-podcast-editing

      Glad you found it useful, Gary! And a great suggestion about Overdub. I’ll add to my ideas list, or feel free to ask about it in our student community if curious. (Descript also has video demos in their help center that would be most useful.)

    Hi, ghis makex me wonder if a separate mic is required if Studio upgrades my computer mic?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  2 месяца назад

      Good question! We recommend starting with a USB mic that plugs directly into your computer, but this is based on your preferences. You may be interested in downloading our Course Creation Toolkit which includes a list of Melissa's favourite microphones.

    I just started with Descript and I'm stuck on so many things. this video seems very helpful, though I think that two years later there are many things different in Descript and I'd love if you could do a tutorial using it the way it is now. is that possible?

    Hello there. Is it possible to have a particular song to continuously play and repeat while you talk?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  2 года назад

      Great question! Yes, it's called looping a track. It works best when you use a music track that was intentionally created to loop, but what you do is line up multiple versions of the same track one after another. (If you search for "how to loop a track" on RUclips, I'm guessing something will come up because it'd be easiest to see a a demo.

    Can you also adjust the audio if someone talks over someone else with this?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  3 года назад +1

      Great question! It depends on how the audio was recorded.
      This video on free remote recording options gets into it more, too: ruclips.net/video/V7v_MjXUZxk/видео.html
      - If you do a single track recording (i.e. Zoom default, where you have two voices on one audio track), it'll be harder to edit when people talk over each other because.
      - If you do a multitrack recording, each person is recorded onto their own audio track. So whether you use Descript or any editing tool, in those cases, it is possible to edit places where people speak over each other because they're isoloated.
      I hope that helps!

    • @skeptic-psychic
      @skeptic-psychic 3 года назад

      @@witandwire Thank you for your reply. I try to use Zencastr for that reason, but been having issues lately. I read Zoom allows multitrack recording now so looking into that.

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  3 года назад +1

      Zoom does use multitrack recording, but it isn't the default setting. You can enable it in your Zoom settings (and they have help articles on their website if you search for multitrack.) At one point it was a little buggy, but it's an option!

    How long would you say this takes to do?

    • @witandwire
      @witandwire  2 месяца назад

      Good question! But it would really depend how indepth you go with the editing process and how long the actual video is. So it's kind of difficult to say, but likely a minimum of 30 minutes.
