I bought some of the CozyDrums custom rods as a result of this video. Was really pleased with them :)

Vic Firth Rute was surprisingly my choice for a long time when playing with a band in rehearsal spaces and smaller quieter gigs. Although the back end of the handle is thicker, when playing it actually feels more comfortable in my hand than a normal thickness that a stick would give. I could really lay into stuff and the volume would stay the same. Worked great for me for many years. Last year when I went shopping I could not find a pair of my local store so I went ahead and reverted back to using Vic Firth hot rods and those work well also but for your slightly different.

Vater makes something called acousticks. They are basically rods with thin strips of nylon along the length. Granted, I don't use rods often or play them very hard, but they lasted me about 5 years as opposed to others that lasted about a month. Do with that information what you will :-)

Right now I'm using a Promark "Hot-Rods" and "Cool-Rods" on my Meinl cajon kit. The sounded awesome. I tried the Zildjian "Mezzo 2" rods they sounded alright but they're not compare to the Promark version. Now I had tried the Vic-Firth "Steve Smith - Tala Wand 2" they sounded real good on the drums but not really on the cajon kit. It does bounce but light though.

I use the less expensive Chinese rods 19 dowel, got to use Liquid Nails on the back end of the rod to prevent the individual dowels from sliding forward. The Chinese rods are great and around A$15.00 delivered as opposed to around A$45.00 big difference. I've not used the brand name rods, but going by the look, the dowels in the brand name rod could have the same tendency to slide forward.

Pellwood, great price for sticks and rods and good durability

We’d never heard of them, but we just checked them out and they look really interesting. Thanks for the recommendation

Hey guys, wondering why the Vic Firth Rute 606s weren't in this video - they don't have the silly handle like the rutes you used do!

The Vic Firth could be turned around and used as a rimshot on a snare if you needed to. I play a lot of different styles, including traditional country and I need to be able to play a rimshot, so l imagine those could be used. I usually have to grab another stick, but those might be a much better option.

Are these a good option on electronic cymbal pads, my drum sticks on the rubber cymbals make a lot of noise for neighbours in apartments

The thickness of the rods......which produces a quieter sound. Not trying to get a fine from my neighbors.
