I've met fans of Corbyn, Starmer, Thatcher, Boris and Farage. Never in my life have I ever met someone who would admit to being a Liz Truss fan.
I'm a great admirer of her comedy! She is a comedian not an actual politician, right?

I´d say the right wing of UK politics is now structurally insane. You basically can´t say anything moderate without being savaged by the right wing press or the parliamentary party.
The people in the Tory party who do have a brain, have to pretend to be total dumbasses just to survive. Also, it means in turn the party attracts real dumbasses, i.e 30p Lee would have been considered too thick to be an MP in the Thatcher era party (not that they were good, but they were evil geniuses like MR Burns, rather than today´s party of actual morons).

Inflation had spiraled way over their 2% target and you cant just 'print' 440 billion for furlough and 60 billion for Energy Aid and not expect consequences. All of her plans were scrapped, so rates must have come straight back down .......oh.

The UK's tax burden whilst the highest it's been by UK standards, it's still not that high compared to a lot of European countries. The problem is that the UK wants a European level of public services whilst not wanting to be taxed to the degree necessary to sustain said services.

You know the country is broken when ordinary citizens vote for candidates like her to represent their constituency. I think Liz is such a great role model. She doesn't have solid views on anything. She wants to learn and experience every political persuasion, and rather than be guided by morals and decency, she goes where the wind of populism takes her. A true British heroine.

Well, the current Tory party is structurally crazy, these days there is nobody in it (at least publically) supporting any kind of moderation. I have said this before, but when any party becomes structurally crazy, i.e only one point of view is tolerated, it ends up committing blunders and ignoring any empirical evidence.
I think that New Labour suffer a similar problem, i.e Blairism is the only tolerated ideology and anyone who criticises it is just sidelined instead of listened to. I think Starmer will be a poor PM, not as bad as Liz Truss but still pretty bad.
Indeed, this is a big problem in the UK parliament, effectively you have three neoliberal parties (the SNP are pretty neoliberal too really), and it´s the reason why things are in the mess they are.
Jeez get the way the leadership election works in the conservative party right, don't just make things up. There were 5 rounds of voting by conservative MP's where candidates were eliminated until only two remained. Sunak and Truss, were the two left standing when this was put to the whole membership of the party to elect a leader.
