I need to do more Neil Young Songs but there are so many awesome ones - what would NY songs would you like to see lessons on next? BTW - This T-shirt (and loads more cool guitar tee's) available on my official store: www.thejustinguitarstore.com/collections/t-shirts
Always admired your work Justin and you do a great job playing, teaching and singing this Neil Young classic! Thank you for everything you do! BTW, I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and this music is in my DNA. It’s the best music ever because it has heart!
Per your request -- The Old Laughing Lady, Dreaming' Man, Sugar Mountain, and/or Don't Let It Bring You Down! Love what you're doing, and love Neil Young!
By the way, Justin. At the end of the "push in the back" riff, Neil hits the 9th fret, 4th string with his ring finger on beat 4, in that BBC video, which I've been doing after learning from this great lesson of yours. In case you missed it. Thanks, mate.
Great tutorial Justin! For the chorus, if one wants to play what Neil plays (using BBC 1971 as reference), you should hit A - B - C# (on the 1st / high E string) for those high notes on the thumb-over chords . They really add to it. It doesn't require that much more effort.
Funny that you mentioned the tempo. The rest of the band (CSN) used tell stories about recording some of Neil's songs, literally having to wait till around 4 am in the morning when they were half asleep in order to slow the tempo down enough. So Justin, your not the only one who had a tough time getting down to Neil speed LOL.
Just seeing this now 2021 . Well done ..since you asked Ohio , Southern Man, Sail Away ( difficult ), Old Man, Heart of Gold. All have that NY strum thing.
I'm worried. Iv just seen your playlist and it's so long I didn't have time to see the end of it. You must be nearly finished transcribing every song ever written. What will you do then? I have listened and learnt so much from you over the years I feel guilty as you have saved me a fortune in lessons I may of paid for. So thank you for helping the struggling would love to be better guitar players out here. Chords have never been a problem for me. The one major stumbling block (oops possible pun) is the left hand rhythm strumming and lead play. Both hands want to do the same thing, so to split tasks is really hard for me. I must of been dropped on my head as a baby. When I learn a strumming pattern. It all goes out the window even if I try and hum the melody. I have to literally play a song to death for weeks sometimes months just to get near a level to play it to someone. I'm 58 next year and been like this since teenage years Merry Christmas mate Love your dog
I'm not such a good guitar player as you but I learned hoe to play the guitar by watching Neil and how he uses his thumb for the barre chords so now it's the way I do it. I think Neil got it from Jimi Hendrix and it's actually important if you want to get the "Neil sound" of the guitar
Thx Justin!!! Probably my fav NY song.. I want the tabs for the harmonica to maybe play a lead lick over it.. I like to jsut the play the bar chords to it. Good practice and sounds nice too.
Great lesson as usual... I hope you do the Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love tutorial very soon, with detailed (as much as possible) explanation on MK's right hand technique.
Gday Justin , not sure if you've ever done a lesson on Bruce springsteens secret garden , I've done a bit of look but couldn't find one , if you could , much appreciated , thanks ray ps loved your Aussie lessons
Do you know Champs Elysées by Joe Dassin? It's a really simple song but I think it could be nice for practicing seventh chords. Dassin recorded a french, a german and an english version of it. I think that is incredible.
Justin! Another awesome lesson, as usual :) I was wondering if you feel like tackling another John Mayer song. It's called The Heart of Life and it's not as difficult as Stop This Train, but it does feature John's signature picking pattern. A beautiful song and an awesome technique in general, but I can't seem to get it down on my own.. I'd be forever grateful!
Hey Justin Can you please do Naive by The Kooks? It's a great tune! Loving the vids btw, you're the best! (Also loving the Rut Buster video's at Andertons :-) )
Justin, how about Bruce Springsteen's - Open All Night. A great song for beginners and given that I'm a beginner... and I'd told my class that I'd perform it at assembly and they laughed.
Not bad, but you could open up the rhythm a little more, I love the harmonica in this one-it has a driving 3/4 beat but also has those swells in the chorus, good job!

Comes a Time or Words (between the lines of age) !
Sometimes I just like to listen to Justin's covers when the new lesson comes out.
I think it's one of the greatest Neil's songs. One of my favourite as well. Great lesson, Justin, was my pleasure to listen!
Excellent attention to detail, Justin!
Really captures the groove and essence of this classic.

Wow Justin - your vocals are so good with this.
Per your request -- The Old Laughing Lady, Dreaming' Man, Sugar Mountain, and/or Don't Let It Bring You Down! Love what you're doing, and love Neil Young!
great vocal dude
Never recognized the similarities between ootw's intro with Neil's art for Dead Man - until I found your fine piece of work on the song. Thank you!

Mr. Young was one the best guitarists in the 20th century. Every time i listen to his music I’m always hearing new things.
Always you help me to play Neil Young, thanks Justin.

Always helps Justin when you spit out the lyrics

Keeping tempo is the biggest challenge on this one.
Then you simply need Neil’s soul.
Easy…
😜
Thx for the NEIL!
very well sung! and played!
I was waiting for this.. Thank you Justin!
I love this song ! Such a great lesson ! Cheers Justin
Thanks for putting this up.
WOW AWESOME!!!
Just seeing this now 2021 . Well done ..since you asked Ohio , Southern Man, Sail Away ( difficult ), Old Man, Heart of Gold. All have that
NY strum thing.
One of my favorite songs...great job. I bought a harmonica in A to specifically play this song. Thank you.
I'm worried. Iv just seen your playlist and it's so long I didn't have time to see the end of it. You must be nearly finished transcribing every song ever written. What will you do then?

Great lesson. After you hit the Bm bass notes, you have plenty of time to move your index finger to the high e, by he way
Great lesson as usual... I hope you do the Dire Straits' Tunnel of Love tutorial very soon, with detailed (as much as possible) explanation on MK's right hand technique.
