I have had a hamstring injury for 10 months now. In that time it has not got any better, despite stopping running completely for 5 months of that time. I am now running again, but only very gently, If I try and push it the pain comes back. The pain starts the next day, never when I'm running - and can last for 4 or 5 days. I've tried everything: massage, manipulation, cortizone injections, even alternative therapy! I have been told it's 'Weaver's Bottom'. Can someone who has suffered from this please tell me how long it will last. It's all getting very depressing as I can't see an end to it.

It comes down to accuracy of diagnosis and identifying causes. If treating symptoms hasn't worked (and everything yo described above is treating symptoms) then either the cause of the problem hasn't been identified and rehabilitated or there is irreversible change (less likely). Its the familiar story of treating symptoms or causes!

Great video. Question: I iterally heard my hamstring tear last night whilst doing some resistance training. However the pain isn't all that bad, I can walk (albeit slowly and in slight pain) and I find it painful to sit on.
Should I see a doctor considering I'm not in pain and have nearly all mobility - I've never heard a tearing noise before

not really a doctor issue. Hearing tearing isn't generally good but if not much pain that's a good sign. see how it feels on graded running progressing from light jog to sprint speed over a few days

Thank you for the video. I had a hamstring injury 3years ago. I never went to the hospital. But with time it became better. I just resumed running. But If i ran for a more than 20minutes, the right foot( on the leg where I had the injury starts to hurt on the from the left side. Can that be caused by the hamstring injury?

Thank you for this very informative advice! I've pulled my hamstring 3 weeks ago, It's a grade 1 injury, in the upper third, starting some 4cm from the tendon, that was determined by an ultrasound. I had 1 week of RICE, 2 weeks of magnetic, and tekar therapy, side by side. Now I'm at the end of week 3, and I still can feel the injury. I don't feel the pain, but some kind of inconvenient sensation that is not allowing me to run any faster than my fast-walking pace. I'm 35 yrs old trail runner and being so much of the track really keeps me worried, as I supposed my treatment will get me back to training slowly at this point, but no way I can do it. This is my first hamstring injury ever. I can also feel my leg loosing a bit of strenght now. Do you have any advice? Thank you so much.

Great video, I pulled my hamstring 3 weeks ago as I play football, but almost fully recovered. Do you suggest I start training or should I wait til week 4 or 5 of recovery ?
