We had only one provider in the province. That provider was PLDT. The service was satisfactory most of the time. When our power was out our internet was also out.
When l got a generator, PLDT did as well. Something is better than nothing. Our bill was close to $50 per month. Often times the speeds were not always as advertised. Repairs were not too slow as the rep and l had a common interest in poultry.
Our province is the brown capitol of the archipelago.
    Thank for sharing. Great video.

Excellent information. And it shows the problem of coverage. The best wired service so far is PLDT. But even this will not cover over 6000 from the 7000 islands of the Philippines. The same applies to the wireless services. And in addition, there is no combined service of wired and wireless. Meaning you will always neet two services, one for home and one for being out.
Thanks to Starlink, this days are over soon... A real game-changer. You can install on a yacht and have access on all islands as well as on the whole pacific ocean! And it replaces the wired service and I guess also the wireless.
Pre-pandemic there was no choice but to go to work in an office. In pandemic we learned about home-office. With Starlink we will learn about yacht-office! How exciting is this!

Converge have already upgraded their FiberX...From 25mbps they already now have 100mbps for P1500..Biggest con is their customer service, although there is already improvement and I was surprised that their onsite technician arrived just 1 day when before it may take them 3 days. I think I am lucky to be in an area and does not suffer a lot of downtime.

Why is this so expensive (in relative terms) in the Philippines? I live in Denmark, where the average person probably earns 20 times as much monthly as the average Filipino, and still our Internet- and data-plans are much cheaper and -no doubt - at least as quick and stable as in the Philippines.

    • @me.ndiart

@@me.ndiart Yeah I agree. I´ve been to the Philippines several times, and I have noticed that some things there are basically not even cheaper than here - and like I said our average income is probably almost 20 times bigger than there. For many people it must be tough economically to survive there.

  • @sukhmaidickoff
    @sukhmaidickoff Год назад

Woooow fiber is extremely expensive in the Philippines, especially considering how most people only earn a fraction of what people earn in the USA or Europe. What is with "Unli" in the Philippines? I was stumped the first time I visited and went to Mang Inasal with their Unli-rice?
Me: "What kind of rice is that?" 🤣 That's when I knew Filipinos eat a lot of rice! Who orders Unli-rice?? Well, apparently a lot of people do as they walk around with a thermos with rice and keep scooping rice.🐷
Do a video of common words? I always wonder what Mang is? Google says it's a derivation of Man? Other sites say it can mean Mister. Lots of words in reference to people that are older, younger, female, male, etc... Confused in the Philippines??? 😁

The Philippines has incredible linguistic diversity. Most Filipinos can speak (at least on some level) three languages: Filipino (based on Tagalog), English, and their local language that can vary considerably - kwfwikaatkultura.ph/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Pinal-na-Mapa-Repositoryo2.png . Mang Inasal means “Mr. Barbecue” in Hiligaynon.

Some plans I know from this list have been updated especially with Globe since I'm a long time subscriber. Our household has had Php2,499/month (50mbps at the time of subscription way back) and now that same Php2,499/month is now 500mbps. Download/upload speeds are a bit more than the marketed speed at around 540 and 580mbps respectively.
2 tips when applying for home internet plans:
    1) Always ask and check for availability for FIBER connection in your area. That way you can be sure that fiber will be installed because there are still DSL lines (previous technology prior to Fiber for those who don't know) running across the country. DSL lines are effective for speeds of 100mbps and below and have harsh/bad latency compared to the fiber lines so if you're not aware of the line type that is to be installed to your house, you might suffer high latency and low internet speed and more so absolutely horrendous upload speed.
    2) If you're an existing subscriber, check from time to time your service provider's website for up-to-date plans. Chances are they have updated their pricing and that pricing may not have been applied to your current plan. From my experience with Globe, they just automatically update your plan whenever such changes occur.
    Hope this helps!
NOTE: All plans are subject to area availability. Most specially fiber plans.
