It's funny how you almost can't hear that roaring engine just behind your back. I wonder if this is what the driver actually hears, or is it a limitation of the camera mike (and position).
Formula E and some GT races use it. It's so GOATed it's not funny. I love drivers eye. I don't think they should use it always but just for some moments it would be a cool implementation.

The only issue is the narrow shot angle - without 32:9 its kind of hard to get the idea where the driver might be looking specifically and you just see the general direction his head points to.
There was something they did with eye tracking in a simulator that I saw on WTF1 which really showed how crazy a race driver's focus point is. I forget which driver they showed (I feel like it was either K-Mag or Hulk) but the short version is simply: They look as far down the road as possible. They look for the apex, and by the time they hit it, they're already focused on the exit. When they hit the exit, they're looking at the next turn unless it's a long straight, in which case they're focusing as far down as they can until they can pick up the next turn. It was really insightful (no pun intended)
@@JimTheFly yep this was the first thing they taught in the rallycross course I took: you drive where you look. Staring down the apex until you pass it is a pretty common mistake when people first try driving fast and you end up over-braking and turning in to much.
@@apocello42 I used to be an active music game player and the logic made total sense. You never look at the part of the screen where the notes cross the timing line. You always look much earlier than that because you have to react appropriately. This means in many cases that your brain is effectively buffering a number of notes in advance and your fingers/feet/whatever are moving of their own accord due to that info. Same thing with racing. It just takes time to get used to it. I've been trying to do it with playing F1 and it was hard at first to pull my sight line higher up that I'd like, but it slowly got more comfortable and I could feel my consistency and skill improving by doing so.
That's amazing and intense. I can't wait until they translate more of that footage into the video game world. I understand if viewers can't see this in races but hopefully we get glimpses of this from testing and maybe free practice.
Nah, I doubt it took too much manual adjustment. Typically you tell the software to track a set of pixels... and saves a few hours of frame by frame keyframing.
Love the rawness of this. I especially noticed how quickly the wind noise fades away during braking. It puts into perspective how quickly these cars slow down. Just amazing.

I thought for sure the back end wanted to step out a few times, but it was just glued. 4. Yuki Tsunoda is an incredible talent
This gives us a true insight into the speeds and agility of the sport. We must have this camera angle more please to be fully aware of what the driver is experiencing on the circuit. Absolutely brilliant 👍👍

There isn't any inside the helmet. There isn't any on the T-Cam because the microphone is hidden behind it. This is nothing like what the driver hears inside the helmet.
