There aren't enough essays on this film. This was great. I loved Mill's Beginners as well.

This is awesome! I love trans people talking about the media that helped shape their identities, and I think it's a really important thing that we don't give enough time

Thank you so much, glad you liked this! And I agree, it's a really vital thing that should be encouraged to be voiced more

another great analysis for one of my fave films ever 20TH CENTURY WOMEN. this film was an underrated masterpiece that should've gotten a lot of recognition and nomination especially to the three women lead and that people should talk about this film enough as they should. but thank you for taking your time to talk about this film. the editing and your use of fonts that looked like it's from the film was chef kiss. this deserves more views!!

I love this movie and have watched it more times than I can remember. Because I like it so much today I looked for videos about the movie. I really enjoyed this video essay on 20th Century Women by someone who seems to appreciate it as much as I do. As to what was said at the end of the video we all bring our personal experience into making a movie or viewing it or analyzing it. It was interesting to hear your experience.

I finally watched this movie recently and this essay captures so much about why it affected me so much. The unusual, or essay-like, structure of the movie with the narration being omnipresent in time is so interesting and you did an excellent job discussing why. Thank you for making this.

Lucas (star of film) told me I wouldn’t like it, recommended I not see it, said it was pretty raw. He was half right. I liked his character and the mom. Didn’t care for the young woman and guy. Self centered and wretched. Why do directors think we want to relive their liberal un-interesting childhood. Atypical filmmakers of today: narcissistic and depraved.
