dude seriously though thank you so much. I always refer to these videos whenever i'm making any of my characters because you helped me understand the concept of box modeling.
beautifully done! i'm learning box/vertex modelling in class, it's interesting to compare and contrast the method i'm being taught with the one demonstrated here. thanks for posting
Ive been years using sketchup and now just recently install maya 16. im so unfamiliar with the control I cant even make a donut xD great video mate, help me very much..
Nice! I am planning to try out Maya out soon as well, since I want to start modeling. I am pretty much going to mess with it until I learned something xd
i've been watching your videos and this time you chose a different method. Looks a bit more complex but it seems to be the best way to not get illegal polygons around. I also never understood why in the other characters(Hiccup, Rosalina) you never opted to link the front face to the back of your guide box, it would have been a lot more easier to mersh them together after the face is done and just clean afterwards. In this method you basically made the whole modeling out of the guide box which is faster and more efficient, but more complex. I will practice with this :)
Great job! Is Maya better to modelling than 3D Max ? I have some experience with 3D Max, one point that i see that Maya is much better than Max is the UV Mapping.
Awesome job dude, I was wondering if you could give me pointers for modeling? Like how do I smooth the polygon into something like the ears? And are there any sources you could direct me to for Maya animation and modeling lessons?
Hi, Thanks for this nice tutorial but I still don't really understand the flow of polygons to model a head like why and when to make the lines or polygon here and there?
Hi, will you be doing a normal time version of these as a tutorial at all? It's a little too fast for me to see which tools are what! Thanks so much, these are amazing :)
+nuggetstumpblog you can decrease the speed of the video, if you want a slower version of this. by clicking on settings and speed, to .25(slowest). i hope it works :)
So I watched your hiccup and rosalina videos, and which method would you find best compared to this one? Making the face right off the original polygon, or making the face covering the original polygon?
K Damon Hi , Thanks for watching. personally I prefer the one poly, edge modeling method (even though it takes twice as long) because it makes things easier when you get to the difficult areas such as nose, lips and eyes. But if It's a simple character, then I would go with box modeling. Modeling Hiro, I used a bit of both, this probably works the best if you don't want to make the entire head one edge at the time.
QuickDrawCreate Theres some of these in mind I would really love to have :) Im just clarifying you still have anna ? on your home computer of course :)
