    sound is a logitudinal wave right? so why you explained it with the transversal one?

      Good question - basically because it is easier to visualize and draw! The wave is actually a graph of “horizontal displacement of particles” against position of the wave. So a peak means the particles have been displaced by the biggest distance (but parallel to the wave motion, not in the direction of the transverse-looking wave). Hope that makes sense!
