Dari, I am Georgian now I live in Germany. I used to go to Gudauri almost every weekend. You went there at the wrong time, without snow people don't go there, just some random wanderers. And the problems that you came across are related mostly to the fact that there was no snow. Also, I recommend making some local friends from Tbilisi because they will show you around better and show you the ways how things are done there. Hotels can be super comfy in Gudauri, you just picked the wrong one. Concerning the pedestrian roads - when there is snow the traffic is totally different and since this resort only functions during the winter they don't really make good roads there because it will be covered under the deep snow anyways. I recommend you to go there when there is snow and trust me you will enjoy it 100 times more. wish you a good stay in Georgia and maybe we meet one day when I come back, keep it up with the nomadic lifestyle! P.S. "Absolutely" must be your favorite word :D

This was very enjoyable to see how life is in Georgia and with little snow around the ski resorts. We don't have the lack of snow but, we don't have cold enough temperatures for our longest skating rink in the world to open yet at this time. Great video. The resort did look much better once there was significant snow. You, Natasha and Alena are like the MCU - appearing in each others videos. Need to watch all channels to keep up with the ongoing story.

Most snow resorts are really all about the snow and little else, other than hotels, restaurants, and rental shops.
At least you had each other, and it must have been an amazing scenic ride to get to Gudauri.

I'm from Canada. I'm one hour away from some of the best skiing ever. But if there is no snow it sucks. Go back again when there is a few meters. It was wonderful to see all of you:)
I mean they're using snow cannons. Without no skiing area is perfect
Ski resorts always look very sad when there is no snow! There was also a lack of snow in the Alps around the beginning of January so you were not alone, it has been a mild winter. I guess we can thank global warming for that :(

I happen to live in Colorado, where I have some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the world.
I live less than an hour away from Breckenridge and other popular ski resorts. Aspen I think is our international ski resort and it is around two hours away.

The first snowboard lessons I had were 60 euro per hour, and that was in 2004. And 15 euro for renting a snowboard and gear is cheap. Nice to see Gudauri again. Visited in the summer of 2018.
Interesting contrast: 3:28 "Грузинская Кухня" (restaurant name in Russian vs. 10:40 "Russia is occupant" 🤷♀️ But hey, they are not wrong with either one: they welcome Russian tourism but reject Russian aggression. Good to see you and the girls (and your new friend) had a relatively good time 💙

I was confused by that wording. I'm guessing it means Russia is an unwanted occupier in a neighboring country. (Invader basically.)
@@dsmj7389 that's my guess, also. In Russian, we have a word ОККУПАНТ [a-koo-PANT], which means "invader." Maybe Georgian language has a similar word? 🤷♀️

Dari, this video was up there with your best work. Bravo! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of your ongoing adventures and the various cultures and traditions you experience. All in all the resort prices are much less than here in the U.S. It's expensive for everything. I'm glad you were able to snow board, if just a little bit. On another note, be grateful for the friends around you. They seem very well spoken and really lovely people. That makes your traveling experiences and friendships so much better.
Not to seem like a "Debbie Downer," but you were experiencing first hand the effects of human-induced climate change. Much of Europe is experiencing very dry winters with late snow fall as well. I can only imagine what the rivers will be like in the springtime. In the U.S., California and the eastern states, on the other hand, are being greatly impacted by an extreme weather dump (too much moisture all at once is just as bad as too little). Massive tornado activity in the south is causing a lot of issues. Damage and destruction all over the place.
In Colorado, our ski resorts are reporting that there will probably be no viable ski season at all in less than 30 years with the diminishing snow pack. Less snow means less usable water for many states that rely on the Rocky Mountains.

We (me, my wife, and two sons) travelled from Dubai to Georgia almost 3 weeks before... we first visited Gudauri, and just like you guys, we were very disappointed that there was no snow!!! On top of that, everything was overpriced. We also had the same feelings when we saw our hotel there. It wasn't meeting our expectations. The food was very expensive and not up to the mark in Gudauri. As you guys have rightly mentioned about roads... it made us very tired because we had to struggle a lot on the roads... surprisingly, we found Gudauri not very clean and tidy... even Tiblisi was also not very clean, but our hotel (Wyndham Grand Hotel, Tiblisi) was very nice and right up to the mark. We had great time and fun in Tiblisi, and it compensated our feelings about Gudauri. Tiblisi has lots of lots nice restaurants, and we found "Halal Food" almost everywhere in Tiblisi. The prices in Tiblisi are very reasonable and there are lots of activities there...

Nice. I can't believe they allow snowmobiles on the hill, there's enough natural hazards to watch out for, they could have at least put in a tow line. If you three like snow activities, you'll love the Canadian Rockies.

Gudauri is good only in December. You need to go in bakuriani or gideriz now
We have not seen much snow this year, sort of sad . The ski resorts near me , make snow but it's not the same. The resorts out west always seem to get snow. That path was not tourist friendly.
At least you await the snow falling, and don't construct it as is often done in ski resorts around the U.S. You think that Snowmobile is noisy, you should get a glimpse of snow making machine at work. Please stay safe and remain happy in the fine climate that Georgia is offering you. Very best wishes to you and your Dunkin' Donuts.

Another great video! When you refer to your female friends as “guys” that’s masculine form grammatically. Unless those women identify as men, they should be referred to in the feminine: gals, girls, etc. It’s more common to refer to a mixed group of guys and gals as “guys.” But if all women, it seems strange to hear them referred as “guys.” There’s a famous American musical called “Guys and Gals,” which translates “men and women.” I can’t wait to visit Georgia! We are only at 5200 feet and already have 45 inches of snow in town, not sure of snow depth in the mountains.
Parking lot views out of a window are just a little bit better than that of another building five feet away.

Here is another money making idea 💡 In the state of Montana when there is no snow, the ski lift people rent out mountain bikes! Or bring your own bike.
The mountain area you were in reminds me of where I live. And like where you were our winter had been mild. Just getting out with friends can be as good as the destination
It was a good idea to get out of the city and see something new. The weather cannot be changed, and I think this made the stay not as good as it could have been. Also, as you did travel in a group it was cheaper than alone or only with another person. Just as you said, such trips are good to do even when circumstances are not perfect.

No kitchen? Not even an electric kettle? A kitchen is a big selling point to me, if I´m lodging somewhere. Cooking in the apartment helps keep food costs down. So many places in the world I want to go, but not enough money to do it. The way Panama is geographically situated, it´s quite a reach to get anywhere from the America´s. So I have to plan far ahead and be very selective. To get to the Caucasus and Central Asia from central America, I have to go through Turkey or Dubai.
I am so surprised to see that they have the snowmobiles travel down right next to the snowboarders and skiers. Very dangerous! They should have different paths far away from each other for safety.
