@@achaudhari101 Mr. Riley was speaking figuratively (as in "done" as far as profitability in comparison to what it once was) not literally (we know they are still making stuff, it's just crap and it costs WAY more than it rakes in, cuz most people don't watch it, it barely sells any merch, advertisers don't make near what they used to, and manufacturers don't wanna commit to making stuff that's just gonna rot on shelves). One of the biggest legacy IPs in the world needs to make very big numbers to warrant its costs. There is a reason they are pumping out cheap looking tv series' and no movies yet everything they make costs boatloads of cash...cuz ppl are charging like it's a prestige IP (it's Star Wars/Marvel etc. after all!) but it isn't anymore. It only pulls audiences along the lines of crappy CW shows and made for TV movies now. @@BillyBatsonMarvel they actually are doing GREAT on Netflix and Amazon from everything we hear. Even HULU is great. But advertisers are jumping ship on Disney+
My apathy for Star Wars started the day I watched Farce Awakens. It's only grown stronger ever since that day. And I'd loved Star Wars since watching it as a kid in 1977.
Walking out of the cinema after watching TFA...I was WTF was that?!!!. rogue one felt like a true SW movie, and the mando season 1 gave me hope ....season 3 kk and DF had corrupted it. Andor I could see a fab series even with it doing a tight rope walk with DEI. but the real SW fans had stopped having faith in Disney so we stopped watching anything....RIP Star Wars🪦
Ultimately I agree but at least it felt like a real story could follow Ep 7 even if they copied Ep 4 - Luke was found, the possibilities were endless, then they fed us plate after plate of steaming hot crap....
So far the show is not woke at all. And believe me, I am one who can't stand woke sh!t. I did like the first two episodes, the 3rd was meh. Not bad, not good. As for KK, she needed to go like ten years ago. I don't know if the franchise will recover from all the bass she made.
Wow a scene that’s only there for a bit. Even a second. Well then good shows with great plot that aren’t oversaturated with woke such as she ra adventure time and Steven universe aren’t for you.
Disney no longer gets the presumption that it's moviesxand programming is safe. As a result, things that would have been successful 10 years ago don't make it 'over the hump' of initial suspicion. They brought by it kn themselves.
And that’s fair. I don’t watch material I haven’t interest in as well. But with this decision I am also not going to give an opinion because I have not watched it. I have watched this show and it is ok so far, but I think the problem is that it is having to do damage control for the mess that Acolyte left behind.
I pirate everything and hate-watch so i can see how bad it is and follow along with reviewers/critics like Nerdrotic, Critical Drinker, Disparu, Reaper, Despot Of Antrim, Raging Ryno, That Star Wars Girl, The Little Platoon, MauLer etc. It's much more entertaining than anything Disney/Lucasfilm/Marvel/Pixar puts out these days. You know what they say, "there's a silver lining to every dark cloud" and, "if life hands you lemons, make lemonade". Geeks + Gamers and WorldClassBullshitters are of course also great for keeping up with what's going on behind the scenes. Edit: Almost forgot Mr. Grizzy (he's not a reviewer/critic per se or a news type channel but he rips on the fake paid Disney shills/tourists who preach "Don't ask questions, just consoom product and then get excited for next products", try to cancel people, and villainize the real fans with their faux toxic positivity. Grizzy and the rest of The Gatekeeper's Alliance are good people fighting on the front lines of the culture war 🫡 (someone needs to fight fire with fire, if it's fine for them to call everyone ists and phobes, rightwing extremists and yahtzees etc. then they deserve to get punked for it, HARD.)
Star Wars went from adult humans and monsters fighting for control of the galaxy with plasma swords, laser guns, and spaceships to the Little Rascals in space. What a SHOCK that the fans refuse to watch it! Clearly the Jar-Jar Binks lesson has been forgotten.
@arthurballs7083 I watched the originals at the drive in in the 70's dude. The original trilogy and the clone saga were serious movies. Sure, they could be a bit campy at times, but the characters and stories were all taken seriously.
Ditto. I guess LF had to cut their marketing budget seeing as the buses aren't running ad livery... that or they realised people seeing SW on the side of a bus told the driver, "I'll wait for the next one."

Not just Kathleen Kennedy but all the woke female activists and male simp feminist activist writers. A full apology from Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger himself. Complete removal of the sequel trilogy from canon a full reinstatement of all extended universe back to canon. But yeah never gonna happen.
I really like Sci Fi and grew up on Star Trek, Star Wars and comic book movies. I cancelled Disney Plus with the WOKE Falcon & Winter Soldier series. Talk about killing IPS, Disney.
Woke?! Falcon has been a character in marvel since the 1900s!!! He’s an essential character and always has been a great part of marvel long before woke or even the mcu even started!!! What are you talking about!!! You are saying falcon shouldnt have his own series?! then why didn’t they complain about the comics back then answer that! Because having a black protagonist is a bad thing apparently! Oh no princesss and the frog is woke! Oh no nick fury who has also been in marvel comics since FOREVER is woke! Oh no war machine who as also been in the comics for a LONG time is woke! OH NO THAT MEANS MARVEL WAS ALWAYS WOKE AND NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN POPULAR IN THE FIRST PLACE!! EVERYONE PANIC!!! Ahhhhh!!!
Kathleen Kennedy's premise that 'there is this whole big star wars world to explore outside the Jedi' is a premise that I have never been excited about. I have rejected this premise from the beginning and continue to reject it. It's just laziness. Star Wars is Jedi, hero's journey, Light side, Dark side, and Sith. Always has been. The premise that 'oh we just need to focus on anything but that' was always a losing one. And it will continue to lose.

Since 1977, when I saw Star Wars in the cinema, two things have happened in my life. I stopped caring about Disney Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Yeah I know........I live a simple life.
How long until advertisers realize that if people see an ad for a product then they deliberately shop for a different brand that doesn't harass them? That will be an interesting day, huh?
I don't blame Advertisers for pulling their money, the way Disney has treated their customers since the Last Jedi came out that pretty much sent the brands into a death spiral with a few ups for the drop that just on the horizon!!
The problem with Disney Star Wars is it's now graded on a curve. Rating any of this content against actual Star Wars sees the failing miserably. But now everyone rates it against the last few doses of Disney Star Wars, so it actually looks "good" to reviewers vs that. It's all garbarge, just because it stinks a little less than last weeks garbage doesn't mean it isn't still garbage.
As long as Disney continues its race swaping and DEI nonsense then call fans toxic......why would fans want to watch a Disney production. WoW what a surprise alienate fans and then those fans go somewhere else.
Star Wars can do whatever at this point. It’s not fun anymore. It’s just bad project and broken promises regardless of what you think about it. Until there’s major changes at the executive level at Lucasfilm and a confirmed direction where they have a story to tell and not content to promote, I’m out. It’s multiple good projects and a solid direction. An attempt to heal the fanbase and make it fun again. I’m out. I have the originals, Clone Wars, Rebels, Rogue One and the EU. It was a good run.
I have struggled with Disney Star Wars for years. I "used" to have a Star Wars channel and stopped because I just couldn't bring myself to watch it or review it. I am cautiously optimistic for Skeleton Crew. I've actually enjoyed it so far. I am always worried that there is going to become preachy or stupid or something. I've enjoyed what I've seen so far.
Certainly not the first to state it, but "Skeleton Crew" will go down as collateral damage as a result of Kennedy's blanket incompetency. D+ comes out with another show, and it's a case of, "Oh GOD, not AGAIN." Relative quality becomes an irrelevancy; it all gets slapped with the DISNEY Star Wars (i.e., garbage) label and it's tossed out. The show will likely have a second life in DVD/Blu-ray after Kennedy has (FINALLY) gone.
Before 2017 anything released with the Star Wars name on it could automatically assumed to be good. Afterwards everything can automatically assumed to be bad.
I don’t care if skeleton crew is as good as the original trilogy. I am well and truly done with Star Wars, and refuse to watch anything brought out by Disney.
This whole circle is also choosing to ignore the fact that Agatha All Along's viewership numbers went WAY high on Halloween week, so high that it was on the Overall chart, and even the week after it was still on the Originals chart which is better than pretty much any Marvel Disney+ show has ever done, but it does not fit their narrative to acknowledge this so they pretend this is not the case.
It seems like a fun space-movie on it's own... but it's not StarWars. Disney really doesn't get it-- they just want to slap the brand-recognition/name on anything with spaceships in it.
What I noticed about Luminate's numbers, Taylor Sheridan dominating the list with 3 of his shows on Paramount+ taking the top 10 (2 spots taken up by the first and second seasons of a show). One of the weaker platforms for overall content, but due to how well Sheridan does with his projects, its making Paramount+ the must watch streamer for quality.
At this point seeing Star Wars on anything excites me about as much as … something that I couldn’t care less about. Doesn’t even get my attention for a second.
A good chunk of these streaming shows needs to become episodic with story arcs instead of being heavily serialized if the services insist on weekly releases. They feel too much like movies cut into pieces otherwise. Plus, the episode count needs to rise to at least 20, unless the show is based on a book series and each season is a book.
Yes, they need to follow the Babylon 5 plan (which also worked for X-Files and Fringe). Episodes should be complete stories in themselves with some plotlines continuing through the season and a couple of plotlines continuing through the series. Andor was borderline in this regard, and I'd recommend anyone watch Andor arc-by-arc rather than by episode.
@kirkdarling4120 I watched the first 3 episodes of *_Andor_* when it released, couldn't get into it, I just don't care about the character. Beyond that, I was annoyed that the first 3 episodes really should've been one 90-minute premiere.
At this point, Disney could produce the perfect show and it still wouldn't attract an audience. That's how badly they have mismanaged the franchise. Nothing less than the removal of Bob Iger and she who shall not be named will bring the fans back.
I don't get the negative vibe. Compared to accolite this is a masterpiece. If you need charts to let you decide on things. i would say you have a sad life. I think that people are forgetting that StarWars is a porte manteau name for many kind of stories. I also think that the OG fans expect to see lightsabers and Jedis and Sith in everything or otherwise it's not Star Wars which is just an asinine mentality. We have had books, comics, video games, telling tales of all kinds and it was generally accepted but just because this is live action and there is no lazer swords it becomes a terrible show? BS. I sense a hate on this that is not deserved. Anyone who is unbiased would look at this and take it at face value and find that it is really digestible content. The ratings are high so i dont get this negative feedback video. At some point you have to put the KK hate aside and look at it from an objective view and see if it pleases you in some way. Most youtubers are impressed so far and i am also. It could have been way worse. I guess people are gonna trash hardcore Star Wars Andor the same way then. Just negative vibes when we need good ones at this time of year.
I loved Star Wars when i was growing up. Had all kinds of toys, owned all the movies and would watch them regularly. These days, i don't even think about the franchise.
I think Skeleton crew and Andor both probably would have been more successful if they hadn’t been named Star Wars.. and where on another streaming service
Mando too because then Favreau would have been able to keep control over the story and S3 would not have been rewritten and butchered to hell and back. No shoehorning of Failoni´s pet fanfic Mary Sue who has all characteristics of a villain but is treated like a her-o.
If it doesn’t matter why are you guys commenting?! If you don’t care don’t at anything!!! Saying something means you care! If you really don’t and have moved on just walk away don’t even look at any hate videos of it move on with your lives stop commenting like you care!
Exactly. Same with rotten tomatoes! It means nothing!! What means something is everyone’s opinion imand if most people say it’s good its good end of story
Real fans want Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2D2, Darth Vader, Lando, Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt, and we want to jettison Rey, Kylo, Rose and all Disney Star Wars!
Skeleton Crew is a pre-10 years kids show for an IP that was built on 12+, that was never going to do well. The fact that Star Wars has been dead since 2017 just exacerbates the downfall.
My experience with Skeleton Crew is that it doesn’t know its audience. First the interest I see is mostly among other men in my age with kids. I watched it with both my daughter and son. My daughter was not really interested in sci-fi so it’s me and my son watching this series about a female protagonist (Disney tries to hide it but it’s obvious the girl is the main character) with a ragtag pirate crew. And even if it’s OK you never connect with it the same way we did with the Knuckles series we had a blast watching together. Disney will never make a profit while they are in this ”ignore what the customers wants” phase they are in.
I said the same thing. Why open the show with the boy and make his story the center of our attention just to bring the girl in we see for only like 5 minutes of the first episode the main character SMH
@@achaudhari101 well you can’t have the whole show about an animated character. And knuckles had a good character arc finding meaning and friends outside Sonic and Tails.
@@Brekhald Except that's the whole point of naming a show based off the character is that we want to see the character front and center. I can guarantee no one even remembers the guy that Knuckles was with let alone his name. He's not Tom.
Personally, I could not care less if the show is good or not. I completely lost any faith in StarWars after the third season of the mandolorian and the book of boba fett. Every show or movie is either extremely boring or obsessed with DEI policies and I'm tired of being called racist, sexist or homophobic over not liking bad shows! Having separate opinions than you does not make me evil! Disney has completely lost their minds.
The George Lucas STAR WARS vision I grew up with and loved no longer exists. Haven't you heard? The FORCE IS FEMALE! The Force that drew me mind body and soul into STAR WARS had no gender or ideology. The Force I loved was the one described by Master Yoda to young Luke Skywalker! That STAR WARS is gone! Skeleton Crew! Oy Vey What's to like?
Ok fake fan then you never loved Star Wars because you don’t want to see it turn around in the future even under someone new?! Got it you never loved this franchise so stop acting like you care and move on to something else
What the hell are you guys talking about. I’m not a super fan of Star Wars, just a regular Joe. But to say Skeleton Crew sucks says you guys are such a Star Wars nerd. I’m liking this show.
I remember the anticipation and excitement in the theatre before watching _The_ _Force_ _Awakens._ After a light saber shanked a particular legend I haven't managed to feel any excitement for Star Wars. Looks like Jude Law is getting a pay check. Good for him. Seriously what good content has he been a part of in the last 10 years?
So the show has been out for 1 week (there's no numbers on week 2 and won't be for several days) but it's a flop? The larger message (Disney's overall problem) is valid, but crapping on a show that just premiered and comparing it to shows that have strong lead-in support is pretty crass. The Taylor Sheridan brand is a lot stronger (right now) than Star Wars, which is great for Sheridan but he's where Shonda Rhimes was 5 years ago. Skeleton Crew's job is not to be a blockbuster (although Disney desperately hopes it will be), Skeleton's job is to staunch the blood flow from the Acolyte. Broadcast/streaming numbers aren't nearly as important as fixing the merchandising and theme park losses and those do have to do with fan appeal and Rotten Tomatoes..
If Disney had embraced the expanded universe/novels and hired top notch talent to develop them. They would likely be in a far better position today. But, instead they decided to transfer our beloved galaxy far far away into something close to an awful set of kool-aid commercials that happen to include lightsabers that hurt anyone the majority of the time. Made a joke out of the force between Leia Mary Poppins to singing nonsensical female cult of the acolyte. It has been burnt to the ground. The once Epic lore is now nothing more than a silly joke about uninteresting characters and stories that fans can’t stand.
This is advertised as a kids show, with a girl-boss, another girl genius, a loser, and an elephant-man/child. Why would I watch that? Good or not, Disney's marketing is AWFUL! I have every intention of watching Andor S2, but a kids show for a failing franchise with the same old hated tropes? Nope.
They were handed a multi billion dollar IP with a built in fanbase aquired over multiple generations of viewers, and an already established timeline and story, if they would've just adapted EU stories to the big screen they would've made loads of dabloons, instead they shat all over the lore and then called the already established fan base racist for not liking their bastardization of a decades old, beloved franchise that has been handed down from grandparent to parent to child. And then they sit there and can't figure out why everything they put out now flops like a magikarp
Regarding the Luminate Chart, does it take into account the difference in "new content" or just "all content" available? For instance, it seems all of these shows have episodes previously available to watch, and it monitors that. Landman, for instance, had three episodes available prior to it's Episode 4 release on 12/1. So anyone watching those previous three episodes would have that time recorded, in addition to the five days of Episode 4's numbers. I'm wholly on board with being devastated at Disney's failure for Star Wars. Absolutely aghast at how Kathleen Kennedy could mess up such a treasured (and expensive) intellectual property. But comparing 75 minutes of Skeleton Crew over 2 days and 4-6 hours (not three whole days, even) to all of these other shows, that have far greater than 75 minutes available for watching, and have a whole seven days of watch-availability, just seems like you're grabbing at straws or making your absolute best attempt at finding something to gripe about. Perhaps I'm missing something, but this seems to be a very flawed argument.
Andor and Skeleton Crew might've been great...if they weren't premiering after destroying the franchise. Calling us paying customers every insult. Dizney going all in on social reconstruction...
Disney has pretty much destroyed all good will with advertisers, they used to be able to say "this is going to be huge" and advertisers would say "here's all the monies". Now they don't believe anything they're saying. As for the show itself, it never mattered how good the show might be, the actual Star Wars fans are already tuned out.
Star Wars originally intended for children became an adult sensation. I as a long time fan, love the first 6 trilogies...even Mandalorian, but NO LONGER. Done with anything that Disney puts out, it's all crap and I could care less and haven't watched anything since Kenobi, and was unfortunately DISAPPOINTED because of Reva. Only shortly watched Ahsoka to catch Hayden.
Haven’t watched a single second of it. Not interested at even giving it a chance. I figure the reviews from the people who watched it and rating it also liked the last few shows or are just paid for a positive review - so I don’t view the reviews for this show as being relevant or reliable.
When are they going to fire Kathleen Kennedy? How many flops and how much lost revenue, does it take for the shareholders to take action and get rid of the rotten apple that is spoiling the whole basket? Bring back some sanity and common sense to the making of good movies and shows! I want Disney to succeed and be the company it once was!
Also skeleton crew reportedly only cost 136 million for the 8 episodes to make, much less than the 120 million per episode for mando . But more than the 100 million for 8 episode Ashoka series. 2 episodes of mando cost more than the two series combined according to screen rant
If only they didn't kill the franchise already, I'd actually care. Only yesterday, I was in a store and checked out a bunch of merch that was on sale for Christmas. The prices were good and my younger self would have picked up a few things, especially a couple of Black Series figurines. But then I reminded myself that I'm not a Star Wars fan anymore. I'd rather spend money on an Asian gacha game by comparison at this rate, that's how bad things have gotten. Or if I want to get my sci-fi kicks, I'll just play a game like... Starsector. Better universe as of now.
Additionally, SW shows are short (usually around 30 minutes) and there are too few episodes in a season. Just doesn't compare to other platforms/shows.
@@jeffmodzel202 well if you watch the video, you’ll we address (as always) the fact that Disney once again dropped multiple episodes at the premiere with 75 mins of total runtime. MORE than a single episode of Tulsa King or Landman. 75 mins of a NEW star wars show should have been plenty to chart even in the bottom of the top 10 over 3.5 days.
There has only been 3 episodes of you think its a flop then don't watch. So tired of the star wars trolls who constantly put down everything. Get over yourself dude. Your not that important
Skeleton crew is actually OK. The problem is Disney. I just don't care about these I Ps anymore. That's OK. Disney doesn't care about their customers anymore. Disney, how much longer will charging be based on what you used to be last? It's ok, Disney. Universal can use your property for parking overflow come this summer.
Yeah, ok. Here's the little nugget that you conveniently seem to leave out. CBS streaming along with other streaming services and shows are doing great numbers for a simple reason. They don't have a toxic, divided fan base with half of them bent on destroying anything the service puts out,,,,,like Disney. They only want to enjoy a good show, not go to war. Why? Because they're adults, and have better things to do. You can crunch numbers all you want dude, but the Star Wars franchise will never do well as long as it's being systematically eaten and destroyed from the inside out by it's own fandom 🤔🙄
Kathleen Kennedy has run Lucasfilm name into the ground. Lucasfilm needs to be shut down for 5 years to restructure. Fire KK and everyone else. Hire new people slowly and build back up
When I think about Star Wars now, I feel like Obi-Wan explaining to Luke who his father WAS. It was a long time ago, he's no longer Anakin Skywalker and life has moved on. Star Wars is an abusive relationship that I walked away from FOR GOOD.
Negative brand association. I see 'Star Wars', I expect garbage. There are isolated exceptions, but it's going to take a lot of non-shill buzz before I give those exceptions a chance.
I don’t understand why the Disney board doesn’t get involved with the SW franchise. This is a $4 billion dollar investment that is going down the tubes.
My guess is that this is actually much more down the line with how all of Disney+’s shows have been. They’re offering Saul range from “it sucks” to “I guess it doesn’t suck.” either way no one’s excited about anything they’re making. It’s just now it’s a lot more transparent because advertisers have to know the numbers in a way that consumers don’t.

Does Disney still own Star Wars? Yes. Is Kathleen Kennedy still in charge of Lucasfilm? Yes. Is there the slightest whiff of woke? Yes. Then I'm out.
Disney is still keeping Star Wars. You can live with the other two demands eventually being met.

The problem with Disney Star Wars is it's now graded on a curve. Rating any of this content against actual Star Wars sees the failing miserably. But now everyone rates it against the last few doses of Disney Star Wars, so it actually looks "good" to reviewers vs that.
When it comes to Star Wars, and Disney in general, there's a famous line that comes to mind: "Frankly, I just don't give a damn..."
Tulsa king. Best thing made in the past ten years.
It crazy that it's the only one of the top ten shows I have even heard of.
Before 2017 anything released with the Star Wars name on it could automatically assumed to be good. Afterwards everything can automatically assumed to be bad.
Star Wars has sucked since the "special editions" in the late 90's. The prequels were trash. Disney just desecrated the corpse
I don’t care if skeleton crew is as good as the original trilogy.
I am well and truly done with Star Wars, and refuse to watch anything brought out by Disney.
Yet you’re crying about it.
I've seen some pretty dumb stuff on the internet , but to call a show a flop after just one week , has to be the dumbest thing ever

Man the mighty have fallen hard.
Only losers say it flopped. It is a great series for kids.
It seems like a fun space-movie on it's own... but it's not StarWars. Disney really doesn't get it-- they just want to slap the brand-recognition/name on anything with spaceships in it.
I said the same thing. Why it’s it Star Wars?
It will be interesting how the Harry Potter seasons will get longer and longer.
At this point, Disney could produce the perfect show and it still wouldn't attract an audience. That's how badly they have mismanaged the franchise.
Nothing less than the removal of Bob Iger and she who shall not be named will bring the fans back.
they already did, its called Andor

Oh the Knuckles show where it was hardly about him but his human friend?
I said the same thing. Why open the show with the boy and make his story the center of our attention just to bring the girl in we see for only like 5 minutes of the first episode the main character SMH
@@achaudhari101 well you can’t have the whole show about an animated character. And knuckles had a good character arc finding meaning and friends outside Sonic and Tails.

I like this show
disney+ shows lack quality, they no longer get benefit of the doubt when it comes to these "star wars" (in name only) shows
This is advertised as a kids show, with a girl-boss, another girl genius, a loser, and an elephant-man/child.
There is essentially zero buzz on the street regarding Skeleton Crew. It's another disaster for Disney.
I see Disney plus dying within 5 years
Andor and Skeleton Crew might've been great...if they weren't premiering after destroying the franchise. Calling us paying customers every insult. Dizney going all in on social reconstruction...

Starsector. The problem is Disney refuses to dump all the episodes binge style to retain viewers throughout an entire weekend.
Paramount and others have proven that to be wrong. Paramount shows come out weekly.
Or you’re making excuses to leave.
I actually really like Skeleton Crew so far. It's fun and reminds me of when I was a kid.
Just because it doesn't suck, doesn't mean it's good.
Wait till the third ep comes out and one of kids has 2 Moms lol no shit
