At the beginning of this year, I asked myself which path I would like to take as a musician in the next few years. On the one hand, I definitely want to continue producing music and videos for the piano, since this musical instrument has always played an important role in my life anyway. On the other hand, I have a strong passion for modern, cinematic orchestral music. Through my piano arrangements of my favorite movie soundtracks, I already had a bit of an opportunity to bring my two passions together in the context of my RUclips videos. However, as I mentioned when I posted my last video, I'm feeling more and more the desire to experience and develop myself not only as an arranger, but also as a composer. Just as I've spent the past few years optimizing the quality of my RUclips videos, I'd also like to grow as a composer in writing modern orchestral music in the coming years. So when I release more original compositions in the future, you can expect that there will be both orchestral and piano versions of them from now on.
Don't worry, even though my focus will shift more towards original compositions in the future, I will also return to arranging film music in between, because I am aware that's probably the main reason why most of you follow me on this channel. However, it's also very important to me to grow as a person and musician through new challenges, to try out new things and to be able to show you a different musical side. This release is another important step for me in this direction. My goal in creating the orchestral version was to gain many new insights into the world of music and to broaden my horizons. This also resulted in the name for this track: "A New Horizon". You can listen to the result on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and many other streaming platforms. I hope you like it!

ich bin wirklich sehr glücklich darüber, dass du mit deinem letzten Video gewissermaßen einen neuen Weg eingeschlagen hast und dich nun auf deine eigene musikalische Reise begibst. Bei all den Arrangements, welche die letzten Jahre deines musikalischen Werkes geprägt haben, kann ich deinen Drang, nun auch eigene musikalische Geschichten zu erzählen, gut nachvollziehen. Ich denke, das Arrangieren von bereits bestehender Musik erzeugt nämlich genau zwei Dinge: Zum einen tiefe Bewunderung für die Komponisten der entsprechenden Stücke, zum anderen daraus aber auch das Bedürfnis, irgendwann eigene Kompositionen bewundern zu können.
Nach all den Jahren kann man, denke ich, ohne Bedenken behaupten, dass du momentan einer der besten Arrangeure für Klavier weltweit bist, ganz ehrlich! Dass du so wahnsinnig viel arrangiert hast, hat dich vermutlich ungemein weitergebildet. Du kennst nun die Kniffe, Tricks und Muster der (Film-)Musik und bist in der Lage, komplexe Kompositionen zu abstrahieren und wie ein Mechaniker in ihre Einzelteile zu zerlegen. Kurzum: Eine bessere Grundlage, um nun auch als Komponist voll durchzustarten, kann man eigentlich nicht haben.
Mir ist es wichtig hervorzuheben, dass du eine Fähigkeit besitzt, die viele Musiker gar nicht haben: musikalische Kompositionen zu entwickeln, welche über die Basics hinausragen. Was meine ich damit? Naja. Wenn musikalisch etwas gebildete Menschen die Aufgabe bekämen, eine "Komposition" zu entwerfen, welche eine Melodie und einfache Akkordstrukturen beinhaltet, die vielleicht noch etwas dynamisch ausgestaltet werden, dann würde das vermutlich die Mehrzahl meistern. Ginge es aber darum, musikalisch eine Geschichte zu erzählen, eine Komposition von mehreren Minuten zu kreieren, die abwechslungsreich, dramaturgisch wohl gestaltet, harmonisch komplex und satztechnisch solide ist, dann würden die meisten scheitern.
Deswegen tue ich mich auch immer sehr schwer damit, zu behaupten, ich hätte etwas komponiert. Einerseits mag ich diese Denkweise irgendwie nicht, weil sie das Schaffen Musik auf eine Art elitäre, transzendentale, beinahe kaum zu erreichende Ebene befördert und somit viele Menschen, die gerne Musik machen wollen, abschreckt, andererseits wird dadurch aber auch deutlich, dass Musik eben etwas sehr besonderes und aufwändiges ist, was mir auch immer wieder wichtig ist zu betonen.
Fakt ist, dass du, Patrik, diese unglaublich wertvolle Eigenschaft besitzt, Musik zu schreiben, die auch wirklich "custom", einzigartig und bereichernd ist. Dadurch eröffnen sich dir natürlich unglaublich viele Möglichkeiten. Denn du bist in der Lage, und diese Eigenschaft ist wirklich selten, genau die Klänge, die in deinem Kopf herum schwirren, auch wirklich kompositorisch umzusetzen. Ich habe schon oft die Situation gehabt, den Orchesterklang aus meinen Vorstellungen auch mal festhalten zu wollen, habe es aber nie wirklich geschafft. Zum Komponieren gehört einfach so viel dazu. Das, was in deinen Videos immer so einfach und logisch aussieht, ist tatsächlich hoch komplex und wohl überlegt.
An dieser Stelle muss ich gestehen, dass sich das Verhältnis zwischen mir und Musik in den letzten Monaten etwas gewandelt hat. Es ist nämlich genau dieser Kontrast, zwischen absoluter Bewunderung der unglaublichen Schönheit von Musik und der gleichzeitigen, und ich kann es wirklich nicht sagen, Aggression ihrer kaum vorstellbaren Komplexität gegenüber. Das war nicht immer so. Aus meiner Begeisterung hat sich sehr schnell der etwas naive Drang entwickelt, genau so spielen zu können wie du, eigene Klavierkompositionen zu schreiben, Musik zu gestalten… Und mein Gott… Ich hab's wirklich lange versucht 😅. Unmengen an PDFs über Tonsatz, Kontrapunkt, Orchestration, Unmengen an Übungen, um am Klavier fitter zu werden, und, und, und. Und ja… Natürlich wird man besser, keine Frage. Die wohl wichtigste Erkenntnis bei der ganzen Sache, die sich mir mehr und mehr herauskristallisiert hat, ist jedoch die, dass es einfach gewisse Niveaus gibt, die man kaum erreichen kann.
Ich mag das Wort “Talent” oder “Begabung” eigentlich nicht. Aber ganz ehrlich, Patrik, die Liga in der du spielst, ist, und ich kann es nicht anders sagen, wirklich unerreichbar. Es ist irgendwie so, als gäbe es eine “magische Grenze”, die nur ganz, ganz wenige übertreten können. Natürlich kann man bereits unter dieser Grenze Kompositionen anfertigen und Musik schreiben, die ganz ansprechend ist. Doch wenn man dann in Partituren von dir oder John Williams blickt, ist das doch nochmal was ganz anderes. Natürlich ist bei euch auch eine ganze Menge an Fleiß und Übung im Spiel. Ich glaube aber mittlerweile, dass die Menschen, die diese Grenze übertreten konnten, eigentlich schon immer hinter ihr waren. Menschen, die tatsächlich dazu bestimmt sind, zu komponieren. Und diese Menschen, zu denen auch du gehörst, Patrik, bewundere ich zu aller, aller tiefst. Ihr habt die Sprache der Musik nicht nur gelernt, sondern sie ist auch ein Teil von euch.
Ich beneide dich sehr darum, habe mittlerweile aber auch gelernt, dass es wichtig ist, loszulassen, zu akzeptieren, dass es auch in Ordnung ist, nicht Teil der Champions-League oder vermutlich auch noch Bundes- und Regionalliga zu sein (Ich dachte der Vergleich passt hier ganz gut 😅). Ich jedenfalls konzentriere mich nun darauf, das zu machen, was mir wirklich Spaß macht und mich nicht in die Frustration treibt: Musik zu hören und mit den mir zur Verfügung stehenden Mitteln Zeit am Klavier zu verbringen, ganz ohne Druck. 😊
Du bist ein sehr begabter Mensch, Patrik und ich bewundere all das, was du tust, von ganzem Herzen!

Lieber Lasse, dein Kommentar ist wieder einmal der Hammer! Vielen Dank für deine ganze Unterstützung! Sich mit anderen zu vergleichen ist völlig menschlich, aber man sollte sich niemals entmutigen lassen, seinen eigenen Weg zu gehen. Jeder hat seine ganz eigenen, individuellen Stärken und Interessen. Das Geheimnis ist, diese Stärken zusammenzubringen. "Wer seinen eigenen Weg geht, kann von niemandem eingeholt werden." 😉
Ich kann einfach zu allem in dieser Nachricht zustimmen! Für mich ist Patrik der beste Pianist und ich hab ihm einfach alles zu verdanken! Ich bin noch relativ jung (19) und habe, als ich in der 7. Klasse war mit dem Klavier spielen aufgehört, weil ich einfach einen miserablen Lehrer hatte, der mich nicht weiter gebracht hat. In der Zeit habe ich dich Patrik entdeckt und und den Drang verspürt weiter zu machen. Ich habe das bis Ende dee Zehnten mir selber versucht sachen weiter beizubringen und dann seit 3 Jahren wieder einen Klavierlehrer, der mir extrem gut hilft! ich habe endlich begleiten gelernt und verstehe einiges mehr der Techniken, die es so gibt. Vielen Dank Patrik! Ohne dich hätte ich vermutlich aufgehört…

Ich glaube, schöner kann man die Bewunderung für sein musikalisches Schaffen nicht ausdrücken.
In diesem Leben werd ich ganz sicher nicht in dieser Liga spielen, ich versuch es erst gar nicht. Ich bin einfach nur froh darüber, dass er uns alle an seiner Musik teilhaben lässt. Sie verzaubert mich immer wieder auf neue. Ich hab ja die Hoffnung, dass man ihn irgend wann einmal live erleben kann. Das wäre einfach großartig. Also falls es doch mal ein Konzert geben sollte, bitte unbedingt hier bei YT Bescheid sagen. Oder vielleicht doch lieber nur mir, sonst bekomme ich am Ende keine Karte! Even though I have never met you before, I can tell that you are a true dedicator to what you enjoy doing. Not just in the Piano, but in many other hobbies that you may have. Thank you so much, Patrik, this sounds amazing! I love the work in the orchestral version too, very neat instrumentation, the buildup, and the percussion you use. It changes from your last work, The Way of Hope, which I thoroughly enjoyed listening to. Your suspensions are clear in both your performance and the orchestral version. I especially like the section in the piano, 1:03, while 1:20 sound very reminiscent of a 'Thomas Bergersen' feel. Yes, I follow you because of the film arrangements, which is how I found all this amazing music, but the pieces like 'Anni's Ballad' and 'Blue Rythms' ensnared me too. Yet another beautiful composition Patrik... Once again, thank you so much for creating this melody. This and The Way of Hope have got to be two of the most elegant songs I have ever heard. I also have to say that I especially loved the left hand pn this one- it really gives a flowing feel, and complements the right hand beautifully.

Hallo Patrik, du hast keine Ahnung, wie gut es ist zu wissen, dass der Freitag des Monats, in dem du deine Videos postest, gekommen ist. Ich folge dir seit 2020, als ich anfing, mich für Musik zu interessieren, und eine Weile später, dank dir Video des Arrangements von Man of Steel, auch für Klavier. Seitdem habe ich mich immer mehr in das Instrument verliebt und in das ganze Universum, das es zu bieten hat, schließlich muss ich ihm nur danken, dass er eine grundlegende Figur am Anfang meines Klavierstudiums war. So habe ich mich letztes Jahr dazu verpflichtet, meine ersten Arrangements zu machen und zu versuchen, der Grundlage zu folgen, die Sie verwenden, weil ich denke, dass es das vollständigste und reichste im musikalischen Sinne ist, das ich jemals hier auf RUclips gefunden habe, außerdem ist es erschreckend nahe an den Originalversionen der Songs. Jedenfalls verbrachte ich einige Zeit damit, ein Arrangement des Hauptthemas aus dem Film E.T. von John Williams, und aus persönlichen Gründen dauerte die Fertigstellung länger als nötig. Wie auch immer, ich habe es gestern hier auf meinem RUclips-Kanal gepostet, und in Anbetracht dessen, dass ich mein Arrangement basierend auf der Frage erstellt habe: "Was würde Patrik Pietschmann tun?" Ich beschloss, es ihm zu Ehren zu tun. Wenn Sie es sich ansehen, hoffe ich, dass es Ihnen gefällt, es ist eines meiner ersten musikalischen Arrangement-Erlebnisse :-)

This piece genuinely seems so intricate I can't really put it in words. It feels super different and new from what you normally do yet it still has that Pietschmann type of composing to it to make it special.
I've tried to do what you did with making arrangements of for example Thomas Bergersens music, which has made me realise it takes a certain type of talent/skill to do what you do, since that stuff is damn hard lol

In der Vergangenheit hast du schon mehrmals bewiesen, dass du nicht "nur" arrangieren kannst und das stellst du jedes mal wieder neu unter Beweis. Ich persönlich freue mich sehr darauf, deine eigenen Stücke hören zu können; besonders, wenn die Orchester-Versionen so gut gemacht sind! "The Way of Hope" und "A New Horizon" sind tolle Stücke, bei denen man deinen eigenen Stil schon ziemlich gut erkennt und ich kann es kaum erwarten, dich noch weiter als Komponist wachsen zu sehen :D

So, nun zu deiner neuen Komposition, die mich total umgehauen hat! Ganz genau weiß ich natürlich nicht, was deine Intention beim Komponieren war; Für mich klingt “A New Horizon” aber insbesondere nach zwei wesentlichen Bestandteilen des Lebens: Der Aufbruch ins Unbekannte und das damit verbundene Abenteuer. Da hast du dir ein wirklich hochspannendes Thema rausgesucht, denn Abenteuer lassen sich gleich mehreren emotionalen Ebenen zuordnen, die in deiner neuen Komposition wunderbar zum Ausdruck kommen! Zum einen der gewisse Hauch von Angst und Unsicherheit, aber auch die gleichzeitige Vorfreude und Neugier, einen neuen Abschnitt zu beginnen und seinen _Horizont_ zu erweitern.
Musikalisch kommt das unglaublich genial zum Ausdruck. Und wie genial das zum Ausdruck kommt, kann ich wirklich nicht oft genug betonen. Vielleicht hast du ja schon einen Blick in Bergersen’s neues Album geworfen. Das beschäftigt sich nämlich ebenfalls mit Abenteuer, Aufbruch und Weiterentwicklung. Mit dieser Referenz im Hinterkopf, dachte ich beim ersten Durchlauf des Hörens: "Patrik übertrifft mal wieder sich selbst und hat etwas komponiert, das sowohl von der Produktionsqualität als auch von der kompositorischen Qualität her, Teil der “Humanity”-Alben von Thomas Bergersen sein könnte.” Damit hast du etwas geschafft, was nur ganz wenige schaffen. Soweit ich weiß, ist Bergersen momentan eines deiner größten musikalischen Vorbilder. Jetzt die Frage: Wie viele Menschen schaffen es, jemals das Niveau ihrer absoluten Vorbilder zu erreichen? Antwort: Nur ganz, ganz wenige. Was bedeutet das jetzt für dich, Patrik? Nun ja… Im Prinzip steht dir eine noch weitaus größere musikalische Karriere offen, als die, die du bereits beschreitest. Ich bitte dich also dringlichst darum: Mach jetzt bitte genau so weiter und expandiere deine Kontakte in die Richtung, in der du dich wahrscheinlich bloß noch nicht siehst. Du hast wirklich das Potenzial, noch eine ganz, ganz große Nummer zu werden und ich sehe deinen Namen jetzt schon im Abspann großer Filme, ehrlich! Dass du mit deiner Musik bereits über 1,8 Millionen Menschen erreichen konntest, zeigt ja nur, dass du alles richtig machst. Also trau dich ruhig, größer zu denken, als du dich vielleicht traust! Wir wissen alle, dass du das kannst, Patrik!
