That was cool when are family was in logging we was strictly sawn logs i enjoy watching those big red oak tree hit the ground and when it was time i would set the chokers on the trees and that was some hard work
The cable reel that supplies AC power to the crane is a flexible high voltage cable. The one at our mill is 2400V, some are 4160 V. There are brushes and slip rings in the reel to pass power and it goes up the leg to the gantry MCC to a transformer to get it to 480 for the variable frequency drives. These cranes are one of the fastest ways to unload and maximize wood storage but are a real pain to maintain! It’s 140 steps to the top so you better bring the parts and tools you need! The Mack grapple has the hydraulic pump and controls built into it. I think it was a 50 hp motor. Cool video and it’s always good to hear a Cat truck engine working!
Awesome video!!!! Enjoyed the ride along to the mill. Car at the end almost got squished, pulled out in front of A loaded logger. Looks like he had to get on the binders pretty good...:)
At pixelle instead of pulling under a crane there are loaders for softwood and hard wood most can unload 1 bunk at once and 1 can unload 1/2 of a bunk at once
It's where u pull into there to unbind the the load and if any wood falls off it will catch it but the ones at our mills beat the crap out of our trucks they break antennas hit the mirrors scratch the paint on the trucks
That was really cool.. mickey needs a crane like that lol... What do those things do.. that are swinging on each side when going through racks...Is that Iceman headed in 😁
Nice footage! I’ve been wanting to record myself hauling logs. What mount are you using? Drop a link if you don’t mind. I’m buying the go pro hero 8 or 9 here soon and wanna get the right mounts
Are those County maintained dirt roads ya'll are loading in? In my part of Alabama that's a NO NO! It doesn't matter if it is a maintained county road or not.
Potential Reverser alarm for the 718. Heavy duty used on construction machines. Multi frequency rather than the plain beep. brigade-electronics.com/en-us/products/reversing-and-warning-alarms/ portland, indiana or do only the beepers have forest machine use approval?
Love that view. Great perspective. Keep the videos coming!
That is 1 heck of a operation. I don’t think I will ever gripe about how high lumber is any more.
That crane was awesome and thank you for sharing 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Smooth loading and unloading. tks for showing.

I’ve seen some new crane operators pick up loads of logs and the trailer...that makes for a interesting sight to see!
Mill must pay good all them nice trucks lol
We ain’t working for free or working with junk
Awesome videos thomas
That’s money right there!🤘🏻
good video
Shoot I wish the mills we haul to had those blowers for the loose bark
I honestly didn’t know they had those till I sent a camera on the truck 😂
I live a few minutes from a Westrock sawmill they use a giant front end loader that will pick up the entire load.
Load the drivers side first so it doesn't block your vision is best for me
I was thinking the same thing. That's what that hill for
We have a crane in maine at pulp mill would take off that whole load in one bit
At 1240 on the video what are those things hiting on the trailer
Safety devices to catch a log of one rolls off after a driver loosens the straps
What is the Unbinding Rack all about? We don't have anything like that at Mn. Mills. The blower is nice have to sweep it off here. Good Vidya.

@@251boys thanks, I thought it was something like that. And I figured they look like they would beat on trucks.
All they’re good for is beating up a truck lol
What do owner operators make a load hauling logs?
That was really cool.. mickey needs a crane like that lol... What do those things do.. that are swinging on each side when going through racks...Is that Iceman headed in 😁
Unbinding racks, keeps the logs from hitting the driver if they roll off the truck.
Yup that’s the ice man
@@CuttingEdgeLogging_Thomas oh ok make sense!!
What was the 1st couple of things he went thur that was hitting the logs?
Unbinding racks, keeps the logs from hitting the driver if they roll off the truck.
What does the unbinder things do

That’s a small crane. The 75 ton big boon grabs it all in 1 bite!
The 988k wheel loader is even faster 💨
How much is pulp going for there in maine they are paying only $5.00 a ton pine pulp
Not enough
Is that ROM OSB plant ?
Yup yup
Are those County maintained dirt roads ya'll are loading in? In my part of Alabama that's a NO NO! It doesn't matter if it is a maintained county road or not.

I think we’re gonna hook up a train horn on it
Wouldn't it be nice to have that to load ur trucks
Absolutely
He need some loading lessons
😂😂😂😂 as I always tell the others that think they’re better, $500 on the table come on down.
That stupid car pulled in front of loaded truck just no brain
