I can relate to your guilt and shame. One day i realized it was NOT fully in my power to make the necessary changes to becoming a "righteous Christian woman". What I learned is that our first job is to set up and practice a daily relationship with Jesus. Remember, it's not about what we do, it's about who we know, that get us in.
By getting to know Jesus, we must delve into His Word like we were searching for diamonds! Having a special time each day in secret prayer is vital. Thanking and praising Him for suffering, bleeding and dying for our sins through out the day. And trying our best to end the day in prayer and thanks. Eventually, it is not our own efforts that stop us from cussing, lying, watching worldly movies, smoking and gossiping etc...it is the Love of Jesus through His Word that transforms us. In 2nd Corinthians it says By belolding we are changed, so if you happen to behold something Or someone other than Jesus, that something/someone will change you.
"As a man thinks in his heart, so is he...Proverbs 23:7." Whatever your thought pattern is, that is what you become. We must relearn to have a righteous self talk. Please read one of the most important books other than the Bible "Telling Yourself the Truth" by Bakus and Chapian. (If you are in the U.S.A. I will mail it to you if need be). I found the book when participating at the churches "Depression seminars". I've read it several times and I'm due for another read! Repetion seems to be key in a stubborn gal like me since I tend to forget lol!
Sometimes the process is slow, painfully slow!
I look back at past struggles and old lingering sins and I see that the Lord truly wanted me free but something was missing. Through these trials, difficulties and repeated sins He is teaching us and strengthening us. Never let a good tragedy go to waste, meaning you must gain wisdom/strength from it and bless someone else with the knowledge. We must love Jesus, love ourselves and others to the point of truly hating sin. Jesus will give that to you, maybe not instantly but when you continue to abide and strain forward He is faithful. We can always use something terrible/undesirable to eventually uplift another that is struggling and to glorify the name of God. And when the Lord gives us that power, you know that satan is stomping and fussing.
Anyways, when my sins linger it's because I just haven't got it yet. The Lord tells me I am holding on to something I shouldn't be. I usually end up not fully trusting Him and a bit of doubt begins to poison my faith and I lose confidence all over. We usually don't sin unless there is a payoff, enjoyment or instant gratification effect/reward. We must allow Jesus to reprogram our brain. It's imperative to change our self talk by asking Jesus to change the intention of our heart and mind. The Lord insists that something more to be found or gained or learned. So I pray for more wisdom, open my eyes and ears and teach me. Ask for the Lord to increase your love for others, for yourself and most of all increase your love for Jesus.
Deep strong love really does seem to over power bad things, and Jesus will give it to you, it may not happen instantly.
Dear Heavenly Fatherplease hear our prayers. We humble ourselves before You, as the Creator of the universe and all things wonderful and good. We bow before Your Holiness and thank you for Your mercy upon our wretchedness.
Please bless us with new hearts and minds, allow our intentions to match Yours. We thank You so much for the death of Your Son. Lord, we ask that you please forgive us of our sins and cover us in the healing redeeming blood of Jesus Christ. Cover our homes, our cars, our work and our family and friends with Your powerful and transforming blood. Surround us in a hedge of protection and guard us with your mighty angels. Help us to have a supernatural love that will triumph over all the pain, tragedy, sin and struggle we are facing. Teach us To love more and more each day. Help us to gain wisdom each day and help us to want to do Your will each day. Teach us To let go of our worldly desires and replace them with eternity. Oh Lord hear our pleas, and praises in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I found a pastor several years back. A very good man showed me *Lee Venden:All About Jesus seminars.* There's about 10 or so sermons. I've begun to watch them over again just recently when I realized I was falling back into sin and worldliness. If you are not struck by Lee Venden, try * Power of the Lamb ministries:Ivor Myers*
You are not alone, you will triumph with Jesus. God bless you and your family.
Pray for me that I take my own advice! 😌

@@bigjokerhere111 Thank you so much for that beautiful prayer, I really appreciate it. You are right, asking God to remove those desires and that daily relationship with our Father. I'm in a program call Journey to Wholeness, and the facilitator said the same thing, repeat, repeat, repeat. I haven't gotten myself into a regular daily bible study, I read the Bible and other lititures and books, but i need that consistent. That's what I'm struggling with. It seems so over whelming some times. I truly want to learn how to discipline myself to call on his name more and continue to pray for me and my family to fall in love with Jesus, It definitely would change things for the better. I'm 54 years old and you would think that i would make better choices, but i don't. Thanks again. God Blessings to you, and family, friends, community and all that connects to you. I'm not giving up , it's rough and exhausting trying to fix myself, knowingly, I can't fix my self or my children's that are dealing with some issues as well. Boy what challenges we all have to face, day after day. Love you my family in Christ.

Her story sounds like mine, a very sad child hood. Mother died when i was 2 years old, now I'm 54 years. All the years without a mom, and had a very nasty alcholic for a father, it was rough

    Psalm 34: 17-18
“The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivers them out of their troubles.
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such to be of a contrite ( crushed) spirit.”
