Growing up with several sisters I've always just been very straight forward about this type of stuff. Generally just asking "Is there anything I can do for you?" Is good enough, I actually started keeping advil on hand, between 4 sisters and my mother any given day could be a time they need one lol

I'm a girl and honestly I didn't find anything wrong with that response. My boyfriend always asks if he can do something to help me ease the pain. It's always different for me, like past month I wanted to be alone and the next I want him to stay with me.
So "do you need something?" is really the most straightforward question and depending on the person, they usually will give you the answer right away. Leave me alone/stay with me, make me some tea/buy me chocolates, heat packs, etc.
