- Build ripped muscle like Zac with this program…
athleanx.com/x/...
Zac Efron’s workout and diet plan are making waves this Summer because of his incredible physique transformation preparing for Baywatch. Along side the Rock, Zac holds his own, having carved out a chiseled body by focusing on 7 key elements of his training and nutrition. Recently, Men’s Fitness magazine published a story about the gains Efron made to get ready for his Summer comedy role.
In this video, I am breaking down the most important aspects of his diet plan and workouts to help you to start getting better results from your workouts heading into Summer. I’m also going to take a look back at a former “most wanted” celebrity body (that of Taylor Lautner) to see what went wrong and prevented his gains from being permanent.
First and foremost, it is worth noting that neither Zac Efron or Taylor Lautner are heavyweights. Both stand just 5 foot 10 inches tall and weigh no more than 170 pounds. To make his transformation for Baywatch, Efron gained just 10 pounds of lean muscle. The thing is, when you minimize your body fat levels and maximize the amount of muscle your body can naturally carry…you look much bigger than you are. Both of these guys have mastered this.
That said, you can’t expect to look better without being willing to put in some hard work along the way. Zac did just this by adopting more heavy weight training into his workout routine. He stated that he never had lifted very heavy or explosive before preparing for this film. A lot of people actually find themselves in a similar position either because they are uncomfortable lifting heavy or just don’t have the base strength to be able to do it.
By increasing his strength levels on the basic compound lifts, Efron was able to start adding to his muscle density and thickness.
Next he followed a push, pull, legs training split. This workout sequence allows you to train your body more athletically since you train movements instead of individual muscles. The back and biceps are responsible for all lifts in which you pull the weight towards you or pull your body towards a fixed bar. It’s impossible to isolate their actions so it helps to train them together to allow you more recovery time between workouts.
Daily ab training is another key to having the resting tone needed to showcase your abs year round (provided your diet and nutrition are in check). Zac Efron’s diet is also covered here as well. By including a cheat day once in awhile, he is able to maintain his sanity and consistency required to keep his body fat levels low year round.

Jeff I have no words to say it, but I would like to give you a hug, 6 years ago I took a big decision about changing my life style... I was an athlete and I was a guy who troow the metal ball and in that moment my body was almost perfect for that but it was really wrong for me, joint pain, lower back injuries problems in my shoulders (both) and my spine was like an "S" one day I looked one of your videos and the I decided to change for my own sake and to fix my self, that day six years ago save me of a bad and un healthy live, I am not rip, but I still working as hard as I can with all my past shiet, you are my coach (athleanxero) you are also an inspiration and my dude (I have to said it) because this six year you teach me to hold on and continue with my fight! never surrender and the ones who wants the easy way please go to other place to cry!

Can you make a multi-variable calculus video on why the line tangent to a surface is orthogonal to its level curve. I don't understand. Thanks for the math videos, very helpful.
+Sam Schreiber Oh what the fuck, I am in the wrong tab. >:|
+Sam Schreiber lol, I gust started the video and I was kinda lost for a second. good luck in your math adventure
This isn't the right video but I'll help you out.
Just remember that if you take any curve, you approximate it using a tangent plane. remember that the equation of a plane:
A(x-a) + B(y-b) + C(z-c) = 0.
the equation of a tangent plane:
df/dx (x-a) + df/dy (y-a) + df/dz (z - c) = 0
since the tangent plane you use to approximate the curve's contour is always zero, the gradient, which is equal to is also equal to . And remember that on a plane, the vector is always orthogonal to the plane. So you can conclude that the gradient equals and you know that is always orthogonal to the tangent plane, which is flat for an instantaneous point on a surface, which also means that the gradient is orthogonal to any point on the surface.
hope I helped

@@ToaTakila1 I DONT WANNA EAT IT
Last year I straightened up my diet to an extreme level and ate low carbs and high protein. I never really did cardio or anything so I decided to give it a try since I had a lot of extra time on my hands. I ate the same meals every day (you can eat other food I just liked the simplicity) watching my carbs and fats et cetera, and I implemented 30 minutes to an hour on the treadmill after every workout. Only aid I took was creatine. I stuck to that regime for a little over a month and a half and lost about 18 pounds. I looked much bigger than I had previously with very little additional mass gain. Point being, as someone who was skeptical about looking bigger while losing fat, hell even eating fats to lose fat lol I realized that if you really implement yourself and stay loyal to a strict diet and have some nutritional knowledge that you can make some pretty crazy changes in your physique. I know for a fact that if I wanted to stick to a meal plan to gain mass that I could easily do it, the effort and dedication would be hard but if I managed that then I could "easily" do it. Quit shortselling people who work their ass off for what they want because if you implemented the amount of time and discipline as Zac or myself did into a work out regime then you would see how "easy" it is to make gains and or change your physique in a big way. A magician is not fascinated by "magic". Don't be a simpleton. Apply yourself and truly try to the best of your ability to achieve a specific goal and you will see definite positive results.
Kenny Kelly Good for you bro!! Keep them gainz coming.
So you really looked bigger after losing 18 pounds? Man, I would love to reduce my body fat % because I've always heard that being lean makes you look bigger but I just have such a big appetite lol. Plus, my strength is just insane right now. I'm fucking rowing 110 lb dumbbells and putting 4 45 lb plates on each side for shoulder press. But I really would love to get my chest more defined and see my abs.
Peter Skotta definition makes your muscles "pop".
that's really impressive. It's the difference between a powerlifter and a bodybuilder though
What is your workout regime? How often do you do cardio, and how do you space out your workouts? I'm wondering because I want to look bigger and leaner but am not sure how to implement both types of exercise and it seems like you got that figured out.
Thanks. Your videos are informative and helpful. Some 20yrs ago I lost my wife and received a brain injury. I went from handstand press-ups to comfort food and beer. No roids. Gaining 10-15lbs in a year from a smaller state is completely achievable, natural. I know from experience.
Lionhearted hahaha
haha what?... Got something to say?
nope..... al about % and that most low dosage users wanna stay 'fake natty'
Why would he NOT use roids? It's obvious.
I gained almost 20 pounds in 3-4 months without working out a ton, why the fuck are people saying 10 in a year is impossible
The myth of teenagers stunting growth from weight training needs to be debunked ASAP!!!
Oh hell yes!
+David :/ That and women becoming Arnold from one lifting session. Dumb asses... I just accidentally became swole. lmao..
+Forte Astro LOL!

Ever since summer, I've started to change my diet, began to eat right, and work out (mostly body weight training). I'v been eating more greens, more protein, not eating tiamisu for breakfast anymore, and such. Sure, I still poorly eat sometimes but less frequent than when I was before. I may not look like Zac Efron but I'm beginning to see a significant difference. I dropped twenty pounds and I am able to maintain it. I am beginning to see signs of muscle leanness when I look in the mirror. All in all, just doing it half way I can see differences.
I would advise you to start lifting HEAVIER. With more strength gains, you're going to start getting more muscle and looking bigger.
He gained 10 lbs in a year. Completely doable without roids.
less than a pound a month is actually semi easy. but he looks great (no homo)
soooo, is that sarcasm?(sorry for stupidity)
Yeah...But normal people with average incomes and budgets have done better in a year...
I gained 30 n 4 months without roids
Lol he was addicted to cocaine and did steroids. This is known. He even went to rehab for the cocaine use after the movie. Either way, 10lbs DRY muscle is VERY hard in a year (naturally) especially for someone who had already been lifting for awhile prior to that (no noob gains).

Okay. Sprints, heavy compounds, train more athletically and cut the bulking crap. Those are my main takeaways.
your diet your workouts should vary and should be sustainable you should love what you do if you dont you cant keep your shape
You forgot diet and recovery time - the two most important
Exactly. I am plant based
And I learnt to make vegan cheese and pizza that is delicious but low fat and super nutritious. So I will always be happy.
@@fender1000100 Low fat eating is a terrible idea.
I think bulking is useful, cutting is just pointless, you should just go back to your normal steady maintenance nutrition instead of cutting, deprivation of calories is gonna kill your gains

Found out that i love avocados, my chicken with curry, and sometimes i have a shawarms like 2 or 3 times a week at night... i "cheat" on saturdays but i feel it as a reward for not jumping on the fried chicken rest when i pass by there or eat a pizza when i pass by the pizza hut near my house, i left that life behind, lost 50 pounds and now i FEEL and LOOK good ;)

Chicken is a terrible protein.source. Eggs, grass fed organ meats, beans, legumes, whey protein.are great sources of protein. Intermittent fasting, only eating 2-3 meals a day, within a 6-12 hour time period is best. 10 pm in bed, cuz you repair muscles the first couple hours of early in bed sleep.

that's pretty much a routine I did for 2 years with moderate heavy weight and I was huge. also the 6 pack promise is a very clutch app. never passed 3 weeks but it's a great app and I was ripped and huge. this video is motivating me to go back to that routine.
Can you give numbers when you say "moderate heavy weight"? For instance, Jeff's moderate is my heavy.
It looks better to be more skinny (but strong, ripped, agile) than big, heavy and slow.
That's certainly one way to look at it, and I personally feel that way. I have no problem with guys getting big because it is their choice. The world with more diversity is a better world, people trying new things, different things and getting wisdom and happiness from it.
I always felt being really lean and thin makes you look like a teenager and the bigger heavier strong men looked more manly.

Victor Creed in the end chicks dig the lean CrossFit body over the big guy any day, any time

Andrew Shows Jeff doesn’t disagree. Celebrities using roids isn’t something new or looked down upon. They are actors, not fitness gods. Jeff just wants us to realize that there is still a lot of hard work going into their physique
Zac just doesn't have the size or tell tale signs of Steroids. His traps and delts aren't oversized. He's just disciplined.

Many, Many celebrities are on juice.
I've been going to the gym doing weights for 35 years. I've got tons of experience re: guys who start juicing and the before/after difference. So what do I see in Zac Efron's case? 1) He's bigger AND leaner, which is possible... but hard to do. 2) He was a pipsqueak to start with, so not the greatest genetics. 3) Disproportionate gains on shoulders and chest common appearance with anabolic use. $) Looks like he's gaoined a fair bit of body hair, which is another common side effect. Here's the link to the before/after pic,.... www.celeb-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/maxresdefault-1024x576.jpg You can check and make up your own mind.

@@jamestait6524 Zac Efron's look in that movie was FLAT. Shredded, but flat. Steroids usually keep you fuller. I really dont think he juiced for that movie. He realltly didnt gain all that much size. Most people who go from training natty to juicing and know what theyre doing will gain 30lbs of muscle off their 1st cycle

8:20 Is one of the most important things I've ever learned.
Back when I first started working out I went from 169 lbs with 14% body fat to 181 lbs and 11% body fat in 4 short months. I did it entirely clean and I worked my fucking ass off. It pissed me off and at the same time gave me a sense of pride when "know it alls" claimed I had to be on steroids because nobody could do that clean. Well fuckers I did. What Jeff says about the unjustfied accusations of steroids discrediting the hard work is true. I hated the fact anyone thought I cheated and at the same time I realized I must look pretty fucking good for guys to think that. There's no reason to automatically assume Zac Effron used steroids because 1. he's not that big and 2 I've been there done that. It's called hard work and discipline. Something most guys who scream steroids know nothing about.
Don't think I can watch Jeff's videos without learning something and just feeling inspired.
Not to derive from the point of the video , but to be honest you make Zac Efron look like a chump . He's incredibly fit but you're on another level !
Dear Athlean-X,

too many haters saying he is on steroids. first of all, Jeff looks better than Zan with GREATER muscle mass (though not by much) thus Jeff is 170lbs max and Zac weights about 2-3 lbs lighter. On top, how in the actual fuck is he on steroids if he only gained 10lbs in A YEAR!!!!!????? ya'll need to stop hating. if Zac is using steroids then Jeff is too!
Lol if I was on the juice and only gained 10 pounds of muscle in a year, I'd shove those steroids up the dealers ass
+Danny Denihan Jr i would do the same. Most of these people are just jealous Zac made some real gains.
true it's just so many actors juice that people jump to conclusions if anything i wouldn't doubt he may use fat burners like clen but hat aint roids
Lot's of youtubers claiming natural deserve to be hated on but this is ridiculous. I think it would actually be harder to be on a low-tier dose of steroids and try to avoid gaining more than 10lbs of muscle. Just taking creatine soaks in a 5lb muscle boost xD. It's barely a feat seeing that it is his career, he's rich, and started from scratch.

20 years ago I was in College, same weight (155) and build as Zac Efron when I started to workout. I worked out 5 days a week (weights and cardio) and gained 10 pounds of muscle in 6 months. Went home for the Holidays and people thought I was on steroids. It's not a miracle. Consistency and discipline is key along with high doses of testosterone in a 20-25 year old male body does wonders. Now in my 40s, same workout much less testosterone, strong but more flab, much less ripped. Work hard, do your best.

Jeff made this video for the same people you just mentioned because they are so interested as to how to look like them. A little self perseverance goes a long way. Even if you don't have the same resources as these celebs (i.e. Nutritionists, personal trainers, etc.), you can still do things in order to achieve that same level of success.
+indian838 Nutritionist means 30k worth of gear
+indian838 celebrities jobs and lives is to look good or too look for a movie.
+DanTheGank All just excuses though in the end
***** Well if that's the case, then perhaps the people who have more important things to take care of, shouldn't bother with reaching that level of fitness because it's not exactly realistic for them. I was primarily talking to the individuals who do have some time throughout their day to exercise, like the individual that commented in the first place saying "Focus on your SUBS". Which by the way tells me that he does workout, but for some reason tosses everything out the window when he/she looks at a celebrity with an impressive physique lol. People should try to learn something positive from these transformations, instead of negating their physique just because they have more sources, which again isn't a very big deal if you don't have a certain timeline. As far as nutrition goes, individuals can make a little bit more of an effort to improve that. It's not about rich vs poor in healthy eating. I've studied Nutrition in college, and can tell you that my classmates have conducted research on whether or not its expensive to eat healthy. They concluded that it in fact isn't expensive to make healthier options. Albeit, this is just one study that i'm aware of, but i'm sure there are others out there. Sorry if this is too long haha.

Jeff: I really admired the fact that you did not indulge yourself in people-hating like some you tubers do...you give credit where credit is due...I enjoyed this video, you got a new subscriber :)

Ath-lean X great videos. I wish I could do these kind of videos professionally. No one believes me or even sees me. Great videos. I worked so hard to look like this. God bless

I did compete in natural bodybuilding and still and always train naturally. This guy looks totally legit. I've seen people take PED, and the look is so different. He's is very knowledgeable and trains so correctly. Nutrition, he is so on the money. Hate if you want to hate but if you want to grow....LISTEN, WATCH and LEARN!
Show us a Dwayne Johnson Workout!
There out there just google it
+mralex070 He actually talked about it in an interview. He hasn't touched roids since he was 18/19 in high school. If you follow his ig you'll see the hours and work he puts in. He wakes up at 4am and I think he trains twice a day too. And he's been training for 20+ years. Do the math. He just trains consistently and intensely. Obviously partnered with great genetics.
samoan genetics hes just a beast
He said Zac Efron was not bulking and cutting? Not what I heard. I read a little piece on what he was doing in his final cutting phase. I tried it, and lets just say if you can stick to it, it flat out WORKS!
"9 days of absolutely zero carbs & sugar. Only organic grass fed/free range protein and organic leafy greens." "This leads to that hard shredded look."
I love this channel because of u sir I love u brother this is the best channel coz it’s always reliable n beneficial for everyone who watches it
Working out and hard work are different things! Lol
I feel like Jeff is downplaying this a bit in order to sell his program / meal plan. Zac doesn't look natty to me, not in that amount of time.
he definitely looks natty. he is not big at all. looks like he started lifting heavier and kept his diet real clean with a fatty breakfast followed by lower carbs and high proforma intake through out the day. if he was on gear he would be much much bigger in just a few months. he has been working hard for a year and had a good starting point. not at all surprised to see this change in his physique.
You don't think that if someone handed you several tens of millions of dollars to add ten pounds of muscle mass on a year you could pull it off?
Coaching alone makes that very possible, while most of us stumble around trying to find our way and work through doubt and incomplete knowledge someone with a coach can apply every bit of energy to the task and rely on someone else to make judgement calls concerning when enough is enough or when a break is in order.
An individual is always at a disadvantage because our perspective on progress risk and reward is constantly changing. With a coach and a good working relationship you can typically go further faster than you can alone.
I have no doubt that I could meet my goals within a year with dedicated coaching and the funds to back it up, but I don't so my course requires a steady approach hat allows for my own limitations.
I think some of you guys are a bit delusional lol. Go ahead and aim to look like him after just a year and them come back extremely disappointed that you don't.
***** lol you're a delusional fuck. MOVE ALONG.
My dude you're concentrating too hard on "what he had available " and not looking at the actual results, they speak for themselves but whatever you go ahead and strive to see those results that quick haha
The most informative video from Athlean-X so far (that I've stumbled upon). It basically contains all the "hidden" info I've been looking for in other of your vids but I couldn't quite make some things out. Split type, abs and agility info being. Who would have guessed it, under this title!
It doesn't matter what his workout and diet plan is because he's clearly on gear.
+Franck Castillo Roa rich piano is my favorite natural musical instrument
+MrDragonbreathr look who i found
Holstboy You probably think arnold was natural too then
+Franck Castillo Roa Synthol is natty lol
Paul Nesa Studies have shown that you can pack on muscle from doing absolutely nothing when on steroids.
Would love a video on how Special Operations soldiers train.
Just came across this and I love some of the points you bring up especially discussing heavy compound exercises as well as the primal movements. Great video and super intelligent presentation. Excellent nutritional advice too. Definitely will be following you from now on.
