Roles that he performed on stage include Bells Are Ringing, Guys And Dolls and I Do! I Do". I have included many pictures of the handsome Gordon MacRae in this video. Enjoy! Thanks For Your Comments.
Oh man, when in Oklahoma the iconic Macrae comes on with his gorgeous, masculine baritone! But Carousel is genius beyond genius.
Gordon MacCrae was in a class by himself..The Best.❤️🔥
This was the time when we had real music and beautiful voices
This man has the most incredible voice I ever heard!!
You said it better thanks beautiful man and great voice he just had a jealous evil wife who betrayed him
Gordon MacRae is one of the best singers Hollywood ever produced. He had a rich, melodic voice and was incredibly handsome. Gone too soon at 64. Thanks for the video tribute to .
As well as Mario Lanza who died at the age of 38.
@@maryleone2023 You are quite right. I adore the sound of Mario Lanza's singing. He was very handsome and gifted.
He was the Best !!!
Gordon MacRae, so handsome and what a magnificent voice. I loved him in Oklahoma and Carousel. RIP Gordon MacRae.
He had a beautiful voice . The soliloquy from carousel is incredibly beautiful

Incredible voice, best of times gone so long!!!!! Sinatra eat your heart out!!!
@artieoliverio4124 Hey, leave Frank alone. Pick on Tony Bennett.
As a young girl throu out my many years always loved Gordon MacRae saw most of his movies especially with Doris Day and sometimes Gene Nelson both with Shirley Jones Kathrine Grayson realy loved him still do Going for 80 now can still enjoy good music ❤❤❤
Close in age- started with On Moonlight Bay, By the Light of Silvery Moon and throughout. He was great and was lucky enough to meet and hear him in the 70's.
Yes, fantastic voice. Wonderful in The Desert Song.
Gordon's vocal and dramatic chracterizations of Curly in OKLAHOMA! and Billy in CAROUSEL showcase his formidable talents as a singer and actor.
His singing What A beautiful morning in the opening scene of Oklahoma was stunningly beautiful and left a lasting unforgettable impression of what great music and songs were in those days by Oscar & Hammerstein..
Wow-great man and voice. I love his movies. Thank you for sharing the pictures.
First play at age 8 Oklahoma love it still! They don’t make movies like this! ♥️♥️♥️
Gordon MacRae

Just returned for another dose of this man's superb voice and singing.
The most beautiful voice.
Thankyou for the beautiful singing of Gordon Mcrae, loved him in my younger days
What a beautiful voice, brings a person to tears.
What a great singer Gordon McCrea was one of the best ever in musicals, I thought him and Shirley Jones were brilliant in Oaklahoma & Carosal
One of the very best of a long gone era!!!! Taylor Swift is what we are left with Sad
Leave Taylor Swift alone. Stop putting other singers down.
He was one of the greatest singers of all times. I saw many of his starring musicals!
Yes
Me too jackie m. T'was a long time ago but what joy ❤
Gordon MacRae had an unusual singing voice. It was melodically beautiful and powerful. He was one of the best ever.
One of the very best, gone too soon.
I have been inspired by him . I sing “desert “ songs all the time .
I loved him then and i love him now , i will always love him .
Thank you for these beautiful songs being sung by Gordon MacRea. Such a fantastic singing voice. ❤😂😊
Those 1950s musicals with Gordon MacRae . Great music and songs.
Abraham , I entirely agree with you . NO MAN AS GORDON . I SING ALL HIS SONGS , BUT I WISH I WERE GORDON .
Gordon's rendition of "I Believe" is magnificent!
The timeless lyrics to "I Believe" still hold integrity to this very day, and must again become the rallying cry of America out of the crisis that has beset us. We must affirm our faith in Someone far far greater than all of us, Whose hands still hold the unborn tomorrow, and the remainder of what we call the present time. It is time to hold fast our loyalty to Him, and the principles He gave us to live by toward Him. Nothing less will do.
Very well said!!!

He had a beautiful voice. Always enjoyed his movies.
The only reason that I gave this a thumbs down is to say
It's time to let go of the myths and lies that we've all been forced to accept under false pretences!!!! Religion must die!!!!

Love the photos from West Point Story, I am a great Cagney fan and it was another example of James Cagney's unbelievable dancing, as was demonstrated in his Oscar winning role in Yankee Doodle Dandy. Of course I have to give a nod to Gordon MacCrae in West Point Story but MacCrae was more noted for his magnum opus Oklahoma. He was great in Carousel but died off too soon in the movie.
I never thought I could find a Gordon MacRae's biography, and special thanks to Jeffrey for giving us this souvenir... Beautiful morning with such a music and interpreter...
Truly one of the great voices. Could have "graduated" to opera.
I think he could have been a Phantom, nut he wasn't around before it opened. What talent to act and sing. He's well before my time but I know he was a great singer.
@@fireworks990 My singing teacher in the late 1960's, who taught singers who sang on opera stages world wide, was the one who made the comment to me.
@@richardgornalle4536 It was his goal in the beginning, shame it never happened. Many years ago, I remember Thomas Hampson said that if MacRae were around now and in his prime, all the opera houses would be trying to snap him up. Who was your teacher, by the way?
Opera would have ruined him
What a voice
Gordon's rendition of this classic hymn is magnificent!
This is sung beautifully by Gordon McCrae. I also like " This is My Beloved " by Sammie Davis Jr. Give it a listen you will be plesantly surprised. Jesus is Love
The Best
joyeful artist ❤❤ lovely from jane
Love this amazing man ❤
I BELIEVE, IS SUNG SO BEAUTIFULLY, FOR A MOMENT I BELIEVE. ONE OF THE PHOTOS IS NOT GORDON MACREA BUT IS OF ROD STEIGER, WATCH FOR IT, BECAUSE YOU'LL WANT TO HEAR ALL OF GORDON'S SINGING.
Always loved Gordon McCrea. He had a beautiful voice.Saw so many of his movies. Loved the musicals they use to have
Made you feel good and happy. Don't make movies like they use too.
You are right about Rod Steiger who played Jud in the movie Oklahoma. His photo is mixed in with the Oklahoma photos of Gordon MacCrae and Shirley Jones.
@@pennymassengill9882You must have not seen "Carousel". In fact almost all the Oscar & Hammerstein musicals dealt with controversial subjects for their time.
GORDON MacRae was definitely the Alfie Boe of his time.🙂
He really wasn't. You cannot compare them.
Alfie is a tenor, Gordon was a baritone.
Love this but the fourth picture is actually of young Clint Eastwood!
Ha Ha, Yes I have that pic in a big book I have of Clint's movies that I'm reading at the moment.
oops!!!!
❤️
Beautiful man......died of throat cancer. Don't smoke and drink...
Everyone smoked and drank back then, darling. I saw a picture of Maria Callas smoking!
@@Streisand70 yes...I know.... some even claimed it HELPED their voice!! Lol. If you wanted to sound like Betty Davis or Tallulah Bankhead I guess that was true.
Lauren Bacall drank a lot of Folgers! LOL
NOT Everyone❗

Чарующий голос!
Watched all the musicals he was in. They use to make you feel happy. Oklahoma was the best one. Great singer.
Beautiful
I believe that when I was in the street life, I would think we all was not trying to stay in for life, but just enough to put us on better ground, from being deprived of the right to a better life. Where the better ground we dreamed about was more corrupted than the street life, we believe was so right. To find out that just a fragment of our imagination, looking for something that never was true in the real life. That the real life have more phonies than the street life, and they play their part better than the street life. So where can a person go to find the land of the free because I know it's not in the land of equal opportunity.
He is Oklahoma.
eogg25 who càres if he had a drink when feeling low..dont you i do but i cant sing as he did whit that amazing voice that makes the world happy
Huh' I never said anything about his drinking. did not even know he had a drinking problem.
@@eogg25 I always understood his death was alcohol related, but, yeah, you never mentioned it!
@@MrDanamp He was an alcoholic but it had nothing to do with his death, he died from cancer, he used snuff and chewed tobacco and the cancer was in his mouth..So you understood wrong.
6:05 that's not Gordon MacRae, that's Rod Steiger, his rival in Oklahoma 1955.
Succumbed to throat cancer at 64 so sad
@ 0.55 --Clint Eastwood ? Gordon Macrae played in OKLAHOMA, I loved watching and listening to him in all his musicals, Rodgers and Hammerstein. l had paper dolls of Oklahoma, I dressed all the characters up in their costumes, no WIFI back then, 3 TV stations,, Wow, paper dolls, loved it. Macrae was my favorite.
if you could go back in time and save his life, stop his drinking at the start and it could only be done if he chose another career, and he would be a happy man and live to the age of 85, would you do it?
We don't decide the fate of others. People who drink usually are suffering from a form of loneliness. Whether he was a singer or a farmer he would probably still be a drunk. Just saying.
@@Streisand70 wow talk about totally missing the point, and putting words in other people's mouth!!! You completely misunderstood what I said. But hey if that makes you feel superior, then go for it.
@ 0:48 that's Clint Eastwood, not Gordon MaCrae
Taylor Swift doesn’t have an ounce of talent but her marketing people are the best
She reminds me of Fabian back in the late 50s and extremely handsome kid and the bet was they could make him famous and he did not have an ounce of talent. Terrible voice. He became a big star, there is your answer
I swear the guy on the phone was Clint Eastwood.
CET HOMME A UNE TRÈS BELLE VOIX. MAIS JE ME DEMANDAIS...EST-CE SEULEMENT MOI OU LUI ET BARRY PEPPER SE RESSEMBLE???
I love Gordon,I'm waiting for my very own fairytale 🙏🥇👑
Typical man, he's happy when everything is going HIS way.
Gee. That comment leaves no further need of explanation for its abject stupidity. It stands on its own.
@@markhall7646 Aaron was making a joke - the lyrics say: "I got a beautiful feelin' everything's goin' my way." So, who's the stupid one?
How "Woke" you are.....
