I remember faber castel having a pen called a clickball when I was at school. I was so mad when I couldn’t find it that I wrote to them and they mailed me a final packet. Sadly it’s gone but at the time it was a great pen for lefties and dried super fast. Gel pens weren’t popular at the time. These days there are better pens but it was so nice of them.
It's awesome that a well known company like Faber-Castell would do something like that. Let's you know they really care about their customers and take pride in their products.
I think I still have the note they sent me somewhere. I thought it was so sweet I put it in a scrapbook I used to have. It was the first time anyone had done something like that for me.
Gee ! I just learned through this vidéo that my beloved Pilot Address pen no longer exist ! I was recently telling myself that I need a new one because the one I have is getting low on ink ! What a terrible piece of news. 😮
Me with the pilot petit 3. I lost mine after like 2 years of use. I was wondering why I dont see those in my local stationery shops anymore. Im so sad to know it got discontinued. It was the only fude brush I use :(
I had no idea that the Envelope Pen and Apiru were discontinued! I have one of each, and I treasure them...for someone whose fandom was too niche to have enough merch for an ita-bag, I appreciated the ability to have an ita-pen case!
I used to have a pale pink Apiru and it was the love of my life. I went to a delde and it was cute, but I was constantly knocking things all over the place. I sold my beloved Apiru on ebay to get a kipling 100, but it's not quite right either, the struggle is real :(
No one says "shout out to the midwest" like that unless they're from the literal middle of nowhere. ... Antonia, were you secretly my neighbor at one point? LOL
About the envelope pen, something similar could be the Faber Castell CD marker. I’ve been using those when I ship my packages. Or cd markers in general for writing on plastic surfaces
The first thing I thought of was SUNSTAR Apiru and I'm so glad it's in this video. I WILL FOREVER BE UPSET I FOUND OUT TOO LATE ABOUT THIS. It would be my perfect pen case :(.
Once upon a time there was a perfect pen for the purple person who also needed to live in the non-purple world. The purple person could carry this pen in the non-purple world and even use it there incognito and only the most microscopic of inspection of the non-purple person could tell the purple person's secret. But sigh that pen went to the land of the never never. That pen my friends was the Uni-ball Signo 207 BLX Retractable Gel - 0.7 mm - Purple Black.
I never knew I needed this video. Mourning the reasons why we loved these pens, and then finding a pen with similar attributes! Perfect. Plus this brought me to really think about why I loved it so much, all those little details can be hard to pinpoint when we use them with other pens!
A decent dupe for the Apiru is the NÄHE PACKING POUCH!!! It has the clear panel. I'm sad about the envelope pen, I lost the only one I had and went to reorder and it was already done for. I send a lot of self addressed envelopes and live in a very rainy climate. I say we form a petition to have it reinstated!
After watching another video, I had to do a quick search on the Signo Bit 0.18 and came across this video. I didn't realize it had been so long since it was discontinued. I bought mine from JetPens back in 2012 and I still have it. Amazingly, it *hasn't dried out*, and since I only use it occasionally (and since it's so fine) it still has a decent amount of ink. I really hope they bring it back one day, though, because there literally is no alternative.
That envelope pen is incredible. Rip. I also love the Pentel Techniclick which I just happened to find stored away in a box from an expo from who knows what year. It's so simple to use but now I do wish I could've gotten one with a bigger tip size
I didn’t even believe stationery got discontinued unless the store went out of business It’s one thing for stuff to be gone after the back to school season but this has both intrigued me and hurt my heart
I've still got my set of 8 uniball signo bits that i ordered from JetPens in 2008. A few of the colors still work! They came in a great case that looks like new today.
Plus what an original vedio idea!! This is also why I really appreciate Jetpens. They give us what we need, not just copying but creative engaging, and it just feels like the perfectly made video by pen geeks!!!
Yes!!! I agree 100% They were my FAVORITE pens. I LOVED the 0.5 tip size. I still have one left, with a little bit of ink. I'm using it sparingly to try and treasure the last few moments (I sound like a crazy woman; Lol!!). I would love to know the reason behind the discontinuation. It was a fabulous, eco-friendly pen. :-)
I loved the Signo Bit because it was the first pen that started my gel pen addiction but I had a lot of issues of it skipping and I love clicky pens so much more. I understand why they discontinued it.
Man! I bought a petit 3 back in 2018 but must have somehow misplaced it because I can't seem to find it! It was one of my favorite pens and with the new release of the mildliner ink would've made for a killer pocket highlighter
I picked up a signo bit 0.18 on a trip to Japan in 2005. It is long since lost to the sands of time and many, many moves. If it were ever re-released I would buy another in an instant.
I really loved this video! So many items to now try to go out and find them somewhere for sale in the wild! 😜 I was wondering... could you maybe do a video about writing to each of the stationary companies (especially the ones you do business with)? The idea being, where to find the address that's preferred from the companies to accept mail as appreciation messages, special requests, sending ideas to the creators, and any other notes from customers? Sometimes not knowing the native language of the company can make this pretty difficult to tell, and knowing that it's received at the companies preferred destination would avoid sending letters to warehouses or the other workplaces. Maybe we could all write in to ask reconsideration for the envelope pen to become made again? I've never seen that product before but now after seeing how it writes and its qualities, I would love to try it out! Forever on the search for my next loved writing and art instruments. ❤️
@@margaretf667 I know this is late, but I just thought you should know… I asked JetPens about it, and was told Pilot no long manufactures it. So, buy it while you can.
I have nostalgia for the BIC Ultimates Ball Pen, Medium Point (1.0 mm), Black. Its my first memory of noticing how the pen made my handwriting look different and how smooth the roller was. And the body of the pen sparkles! I still have a few coveted pens floating around from more than 10 years ago.
I still have a few of the Pilot Petite 3. I’m going to hold on to them for as long as I can, lol. I wish I would have gotten another envelope pen when it was still available. Sadly the one I did have is long gone.
Very interesting and fun topic ... and well done guys! Did the Pink Panther get away with his heist? I never knew about the Pilot Envelope Address Writing Pen, so I never missed it _UNTIL NOW_ - thank you so very much for that! I'm sure I'm not the only comment that appreciates the voice, the humor and the info. All of which brought a smile to my face. Bravo!
I had no clue there was a 018 gel pen although the hi-tec 0.25 is realistically as thing as a regular person will really need. I think it's a great alternative. Great video!
You know what I miss? The Sailor Kirei multi-pen. OMG it's so pleasant to write with, and I live in fear of when the refills run out b/c you can't get the same ones now. But the Stalogy 4 functions pen is a pretty good alternative.
Could you make a video just on discontinued retractable and multi-pens? I am a helpless pen enthusiast and here comes some suggestions: 1. Uni: hardlock 3 multi-pen: its grooved grip gives you the best handling, the hardlock helps the pen bite on the pocket like an alligator so that you won't lose the pen) 2. Uni: aqua touch: the button is so big that makes it easy to click and retract. Its transparent body and fun colored barrels make it appealing to all students. Its previous model is laknock II (I desperately need a blue one to finish my collection) 3. Pilot: super grip (metallic clip): The metallic clip and button gives the well-known super grip an accent. With its ultra-squishy 2020 grip, the pen is still one of my favorites.
I loved the Pentel Stylo in green. I first bought them in the mid 80s, and while they are still around in blue, black and red, I can't find them in green.
Was the .18 signo discontinued??? I could have sworn I bought a few of them at Apita (in Japan) like last week. ...but on reflection, that could have been a few years ago. Bummer they discontinued them. It's a perfect size for practicing kanji. I'll have to hope I don't break these that I have.
Whaaaat!!! Uni-ball Signo Bit 0.18!!! I haven't seen that one before.....i missed out on that one, but in a way I guess thats good bcuz then I want be sad that its gone lol.

I SCREAMED as soon as I saw the Signo Bit in the thumbnail. It was my FAVORITE and I still have the pen body, because I just can't let it go. I have been known to rant to people about it. .25 just isn't small enough!
Few people talked about this product so I'm not surprised it got discontinued, but I do miss it: The Kirarina 2win pens. They were double-sided scented highlighters with a color range wide enough to compete with Zebra mildliners. It's a real shame very few people picked it up.
Tombow “Object” rollerball. I know they have the zoom line with the same refill. But the object was so clean in design. I have had one since 1998. My brother bought it for me when he was working at a local art store. The owner recommended it as a gift saying it was by far the best roller ball out there. I believe at the time it was the best rollerball out there. The refills were over 3 bucks. And sometimes sat on the shelf so long the ink was thick. I was in my first year of law school and I briefed so many cases with that pen. I still have it. The paint has rubbed off the clip leaving what I would call a gunmetal blued patina. Anyway, roller balls are giving way to gel inks now. And I am not saying that is a bad thing. Still love my Tombow though. You can pull the end off gently and refil with fountain pen ink. I don’t know how many times you can get away with that before the ball wears down.
I'm sad apiru is not around anymore. I want it specifically for that pin/badge showcase window. In theory you can always pin things on your pen cases/backpacks, but I'd like to have a plastic window to protect my pins/badges from scratches/smudges/other damages... Anyway. I'll try to find an alternative for my probably way too nich needs
The Platinum Mekapen mechanical pencil was my favorite pencil back in the late 80’s and 90’s. It was cheap and simple, with a flared and ridged grip that was just perfect. Mine was the iconic red and white, and I’ve never been able to find another after I lost it. :(

Pilot Petit 1 fountain pen is the pen that got me loving fountain pen hobby, although i'm sticking to the cheaper lines because some are surprisingly smooth and great without breaking the bank.
Pilot G2 Mini mechanical pencils. I have it in 4 colors and I treasure them. I have a backup set that are still in its package. They aren't my best mechanical pencil, but they hold a very sentimental space in my heart 💖
I have the zebra 302 metal mechanical pencil. They exist as pens but the pencil is gone and I love them the nice clean slope like a traditional sharpened pencil ❤❤ im glad I still have mine.
I believe they recently discontinued the King Jim Sticker Seal folders. I was on the King Jim official website and even downloaded their PDF catalog of all their current items, and it looks like it's gone for good. Those were my favorite folders for organizing sticker flakes. But if you're looking for a sticker organizing alternative, coin collector binder sleeves with a folding flap to seal the openings do exist, but they only come in standard US 3-Ring binder sizes.
There’s this Studio Mechanical Pencil that I got 5-6 years ago at a local dollarama in Canada, it still works really well. But I can’t find the brand or the model in the internet... were they phased out?
Are there any discontinued stationery items you wish would come back? Let us know in the comments!

Very glad the Petit 1 (fountain pen) continues to be available! (For now, at least.)
