omigosh!!! #1 - macgyver!!! lolol! #2 - you threw on GLASSES to go over the cons!!! i knew it was getting serious!! also, i DO have a weird thing about not having reviews/quizzes/tests. it could be the former math teacher in me, but i sure do appreciate them, as they nicely sum up what we've been doing and if everyone is on board. i do TGTB with my 1st grade son right now - level 3 math.... and i'm trying to decide if i go ahead to level 4 and if that'll be pushing him too much when he's in 2nd grade. i've wondered if i'd like to throw in the guidebooks of BA... but never know if i'd like the whole program.
Mae, if you’re still curious about BA, try finding a deal on eBay and get the 2a guide book. Just “casually” lay it down around the house and see if he gravitates toward it or just say you found this new comic book would you like to check it out? Don’t even mention math. Lol just some suggestions...
@@HomeschoolKnockouts ahaha!!! if it looks even a bit like a graphic novel, they'll be all over it - he AND his 5th grade sister. i'm awful about getting things secondhand, but i should look into it!! in fact, i'm waiting on that ebay order of the poetry books from your other video, aha!
We did beast academy online for my youngest daughter who did 2nd and 3rd grade in it. She loved it, unfortunately I couldn’t see where she actually learned anything, because when she went to traditional 4th grade math, it seemed like she didn’t know basic skills. However, she loved the gamification of the online program. My oldest daughter did the Art Of Problem Solving, which is the next step after Beast Academy. She did their online classes, and it was crazy. They actually tried to teach advanced level math (algebra) in a chat room. It was a total waste of $500+ dollars for the course. Before she started the class, she did quite well and felt very confident in math, she was actually a year ahead. But after she competed the class, her self esteem was greatly damaged. She felt like it was her fault that she couldn’t learn the math from a chat box. Because we needed the class for credit (high school level Algebra), we had to take the class again with another company, and of course pay more money. It at least the company took the time and consideration to teach the children face to face via zoom, and not a chat box, where 50 children are typing at the same time as the teacher, at a 100 miles an hour.
OMG, my oldest did the same class with AOPS. Disaster!!!! CHAT?!! Who teaches like that? He had to repeat the class in 6th grade with WTM (who teaches AOP as well) and it was sooo much better. Sorry Beast didn’t work out with your youngest. 😞
@@HomeschoolKnockouts hey girl...thank you for your response. Can you point me to the WTM website that you had your son take the math course please. Thank you so much in advance.
Thank you! I'm an English teacher doing homeschooling for the first time, and I loved this video. I think just like you and this video really encouraged me to go ahead to teach my 6th grader math! ❤
😂 See?! I stumbled on it myself last year and found out that they only added it to their website a year or two ago. Spread the word. The resources are really helpful.
@@HomeschoolKnockouts girl I shared this video with my gf already haha. My husband knows when I watch your videos I’m taking notes and focused! You have all the great tips.
🔴🔴🔴 Hey Knockouts! What other math curricula would you like to see me review? 🤔Life of Fred? Math Mammoth? Saxon? Math U See? Another Singapore/Primary Mathematics? Miquon? 😁😜 LEAVE YOUR ANSWERS DOWN BELOW!😀
Thanks for the thorough explanation. How would you say this compares to Level/Grade 3 of Primary Math Standards Edition. I would be grateful if u you did a video on Saxon for grade 4. My son loves PM and I guess I should be content but I still am curious about what else is out there. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with us.
So I was looking forward to recommendations. Lol I have a child who has a learning difference and isnt at grade level. How would you use it as a supplement?
Hey Kiki, I’m going live Thursday on IG and I’ll talk about my recommendations. Sorry about that! I’m also making a quick video on recs. It’ll be out this week.

Here you go. His teacher was Dorothy Yoo. She is strict but she knows how to teach AOPS classes. www.wtmacademy.com/course/algebra-i-aops/
