- The Greater Paterson Opportunities Industrialization Center (GPOIC), an affiliate of the Opportunities Industrialization Center of America (OICA) founded in the city of Philadelphia in 1964 by Rev., Dr. Leon H. Sullivan, will celebrate 35years of service to the city of Paterson, located in New Jersey. Each year GPOIC hosts a fund-raising Breakfast of Champions to recognize individual students and their employers from the public and private sectors. This year’s celebration will be marked by a “Dinner of Champions” gala affair, which will be held at the New Jersey Performance Arts Center (September 29, 2006). As Chairman of GPOIC’s Board of Directors, Regional Vice-Chairman of OIC of America’s Region I, and member of OICA’s National Board of Directors, I have committed to the Greater Paterson OIC Board of Directors and staff to raising the bar.

Rachelle Ferrell is a jazz godess 😍
Wow she still has an extremely wide range. And is not afraid to use it. She is like no other. Wow she's been having that range for over 20 years
I've never seen a spirit so free.....I admire her spirit.....

An amazing artist. You have to see her live in concert. Incredible!
My fantasy concert would be Rachelle Farrell and the late great Al Jarreau!!! 🎶💖
I just love how she is the embodiment of music!!! I love how she appreciates the great musicians!!! I love how she rides a song to climax, total eargasm!!!
I sure wish her and Kem would do a whole album together.
Yes!
i love this woman she is a rare find i love her and her gift
This young voice is great. I met her at Mr "V" on Peachtree in Atlanta Georgia I think back in the late 1980s or early 1990's I can't remember the year. But she played the piano and face me a CD, which I truly enjoyed. Many with the money do not know how to appreciate a real singer and I have learned over the years, Europe enjoy music with no color to it. I like that.
you are so lucky

She is vocally not of this world!!!
Is this recent?. Where is she? I hope feeling much better.
I was wondering the same thing. I know they did a virtual tribute to her last year, and Stevie Wonder, one of the participants, told her, " God gave you your gift for a reason use it." I know she had gotten really disheartened with the music industry.
Marcus Miller Top 5 All time Bassist. James Jamerson at the top, of course. Marcus Miller has been on albums from Luther Vandross to David Sanborn in the late '80's thru the '90's.
I see my boy Bobby Sparks on synths/aux keys

Too bad she never did a collaboration with Prince.

When was this?
Yes I'd like to know also..
This took place years ago. As of late Rachelle has been taking a much needed break.
That's exactly what I thought. I would fly to see Rachelle Ferrell. I truly miss her gift
@fedale waters I did fly to see her 2019 to Atlanta, and the show got canceled.
Beyonce who?
OK now
So, this was in 2006?
6:20
I beg to differ ( not free) watch how you phrase free, I know her, single?
I love her but in concert she is a little weird.
Great singer but stage presentation is not there. She did not connect with the audience at all I think I saw her look at the audience one time. On the scale of 1 to 10, I give her a 2 because of poor stage presence
Hardcore jazz artists (like Rachelle) typically go inward with their performances as opposed to outward to the audience. It's like they are inviting you to come into their world... or leave... but whatever you do don't interrupt. This is not always the case, but quite often has been in my experience. A completely different kind of experience than mainstream artists and their shows.
I agree with @Lyrix NChill she's drawing you into her world. But saying that obviously you haven't seen her other stuff on RUclips, she has stage presence but by the bucket load!!
@@DesL488 Absolutely! One of my favorites where she engages her audience is with George Duke & Jonathan Butler at the Jazz Festival singing Waiting For You (it's insane her vocal instrument from beginning to end). Look at her here. She's very engaged & not stiff just sitting there. She's on point!!!💖
She's a renowned pianist. She was a child prodigy, receiving her first piano at age 10, turning pro by age 12 and completing music school (Berkley) within months. She began playing with George Duke at 12 years old. She is totally in tune with both of her instruments. Her voice is an extension of her piano. I've paid to see her a few dozen times and never disappointed. I pay to witness greatness in its purest form.
Also not aware of her prolific career engaging and appreciating her musicians and audience (i.e. Apollo live - with Open Arms). Saw her live in Philly years ago -- left nothing on the table, left us (audience) speechless and fulfilled. She was transported on a musical journey here. She did stop along the way to wink, nod and smile at the audience. She's been through so much; it was nice to see her free and happy. Prodigal performance!
