I've just realised - this is a game show where you chase the dragon! O.o gbgameshows, I have to ask - have you got any UK game shows that are based on Goodson-Todman productions? If so, could you upload any of them when you have a spare moment? Thanks :o)
It's only the two-part "center box" questions that the contestant gets extra time. That's why the center box is a little tougher, and adds $300, while the other one-part questions, add $200 to the pot. Wink has two rows of questions at his podium, with blue cards for one-parters, and pink cards for the two-parters ('special categories' are never in the center box.). They are arranged in order, from 1-9, at the start of the game. When you see the back of Wink's podium, you notice a row of lights that illuminate below the card slots. As the computer shuffles the categories, when a contestant picks a category, the corresponding light blinks to signal Wink to pick the correct card out of the question box. If it is an outer box, the blue card is selected. If it is the center box, a pink card with a two-part question is read. There have been times were the producer (the judge) announces over the PA if Wink mispronounces a word or name on the card, or if he accidentally picks up the wrong question card, such as beginning to read a two-part question, when only a one-part needs to be read. Barry & Enright rectified their own 'checkered' past, by making sure their Q&A games were on the up-and-up.
