I don't think it is because all of those plots are different. Nickelodeon just saw how popular musicals were and decided to make one of their own. Musicals were a trend. This lead to Nickelodeon's music phase(Spectacular, How To Rock, Big Time Rush, Victorious) I think Spectacular is way better than both of those movie franchises and deserved a sequel. That song they sing together, For The First Time, is in my opinion, better than many of the Camp Rock songs, even some High School Musical songs.
