The Loyalist Gunrunner - Interview with former UDA boss Frank Portinari

  • Frank Portinari supplied weapons to the Ulster Defence Association/ Ulster Freedom Fighters at the height of the loyalist gangs' killing campaign in Northern Ireland. But how did a north London lad with seemingly no links to paramilitarism become not only a gunrunner, but the boss of the UDA's Britain base during the darkest days of The Troubles?
The reformed terrorist, who once hid some of the UDA's weapons in a school, speaks frankly to Patricia Devlin about his past and his hopes for changing attitudes for the future.

      Youre waaaay ahead of yourself.
The NI Centenary parade had 150,000 people attending....a conservative estimate of 6 - 10 people who supported it, were unable to attend for various reasons.
Using simple arithmetic...that equates to hundreds of thousands, if not over a million people in Northern Ireland.
To put this into context.......as the last of the parade was leaving Stormont walking to Belfast city centre, the front of the parade from Ballymena district, had returned home to Ballymena.
      The silent majority !
The NI Assembly, British Government, Irish government and the EU obviously know this.
Unity is a longggggggggggg way off, if ever.
Despite the false nationalist/republican propoganda on social media.

Seems a strange character tbh. Hardline UFF who has flip flopped on various opposing beliefs and a Catholic Mother? Does he realize his Mother would have been put out of loyalist areas by the wombles? I've never understood why or how people living in GB with next to zero connection to NI ever got involved in either side of the conflict. Fact is and just as Jonny Adair said, he met ones in Scotland far far more hateful and hardline (won't wear green shorts) than the actual boys in NI who lived the conflict but why? They never lived here, they never lived with the bombs, the murders, the punishment beatings, the community scared to speak out so forth. Only useful for collecting money and whet ever else to be sent over.
