Might I suggest recreating the Funerary Feast of King Midas, 8th Century BCE? Archaeologists discovered Midas' tomb in 1957 and scientists and paleobotanists determined the foods that were present, including a beer that was recreated and is sold today as Midas Touch beer.

The comedic timing in this episode is on another level. The opening? When you don't yet know what Emily's character is? And they pan up from classic Emily-doesn't-know-how-to-cook and it's just Emily in a rat suit with a Brooklyn accent? The moment at 12:53 where Josh's "maybe him and the dog" is just cut off by the classic Mythical Kitchen screen? The entire ending? This video is a masterpiece.
I completely agree with you. They always do a great job, but this has to be one of my favorites.
It perfectly balanced out how disturbing this episode was.

She* and Josh. Why do so many people make that grammatical mistake? When you are talking about more than one person, remove the other person or people from the statement. Would you say "her plays off"? No. You'd say "she plays off."

First of all.. I feel like out of all the characters that Emily has done, this was the one that she easily slipped into perfectly. Freakin' fantastic miss Rat! Secondly.... thank you Josh for saying "With Jus." Au Jus means "with sauce or with juice" and when people say "With Au Jus," that's like saying "With with sauce [juice]" and I hear a lot of Chefs saying that.
It gets even better once you notice one of the original dishes literally had rats noted (le chat flanqué de rats) so she quite litterally integrated herself into the meal.
I like my camel meat with au jus sauce.

3:03 Canadian here, had to learn 3 years of French in high school. Not fluent. Josh's pronunciation is better than most of us French-as-a-second-language types!
Fun fact: Marsupials are in their own unique subclass of Mammalia, called Metatheria, which contains kangaroos, koalas, and american possums
...Rabbits are not Metatherians, they're Eutherians, in the Order Rodentia (Rodents)
Eutherians include almost all mammals, from humans, cats, dogs, rats, etc. The only exceptions are pouched mammals and egg-laying mammals
Came here to find this comment so I wouldn't have to explain that rabbits and kangaroos are very not related other than the fact that they're both mammals. But also, rabbits are in the order Lagomorpha while mice and stuff fall under order Rodentia (but mice are Eutherians like rabbits).
Also, to answer Emily's question of what kangaroos eat, they're basically grazers or like the cows/bison of Australia and eat grass and some leaves like Josh said. Like cows, kangaroos are known to regurgitate their food so they can chew it again to help with digestion. Rabbits on the other hand, are considered hind gut fermenters and instead of chewing food twice before excretement, they let it pass all the way through once and eat it again to regain nutrients that bacteria in their appendix have made available. Animal digestive systems are pretty cool

Sometimes I imagine the LA Health Department coming to visit and it is Hugo from Bob's Burgers and he falls in love with Nicole and gives Josh washing himself in the sink a pass.
The concept I love the most about Gmm and Mythical Kitchen is how well the "characters" are played as well as how good they are at breaking the 4th wall

My dad used to tell this joke about a guy buying canned Elephant meat on sale. When he came home he opened 5 of the cans, but they were all empty. So when he complained at the store, the store manager said "That's unfortunate, you must have gotten the butthole".
It's a terrible joke. It totally cracked me up as a kid.

Kangaroos are native not invasive, just due to their current numbers they're considered a pest
They are also considered delicious.
It can be invasive even if it is native.. at least that's how it works with plants lol

This is my favorite Mythical series. I love Josh and Emily. I love the weird historical menu and context. I love whatever the hell it is Emily makes happen with her characters. I love Josh being (almost) the responsible one in the kitchen for once because Emily's chaos can't be topped.

I guess that by invasive, Josh means that they're everywhere. Kind of like the reverse of what usually happens--we move in, and an animal's habitat shrinks. In Australia, it's the kangaroos who are moving in everywhere.
I HATE when humans refer to other animals as being "invasive." We are LITERALLY the biggest invasive species to ever exist, and we do far more damage.

Kangaroos are NOT "invasive" in Australia, they are native. Kangaroos are simply prolific, since their natural predators have been long since eliminated by humans.
Kangaroos are NOT related to rabbits. Kangaroos are Macropod marsupials native to Australia, Rabbits are Lagomorphs, related to Rodents, native to pretty much everywhere EXCEPT Australia. The similarities are the result of convergent evolution: hopping locomotion requires large hind feet, large ears act as radiators to control body temperature. There are really no other similarities, they are about as distant as two mammals can be from each other.
