To put this in perspective, Maze is bourn 1981! 1982 Waldner made his big breakthrogh in the european championships where he lost a close game to9wards Michael Applegren. 23 years later these to meet!
Saknar Maze vilken komplett bordtennis spelare, synd att han var tvungen att sluta på denna nivå på grund av sitt dåliga knä 🙏🏓🙏 Mvh.Wester Ifk Klagshamn btk
The effortless forehand pivot down the line performed at 0:59 is light years ahead any current European player in terms of footwork and stroke mechanics.See how beautifully shifts his weight forward to produce good raquet head speed. He hits so deep with so much confidence. The guy was 40yo with a broken back and still delivered. Imagine Ovtcharov with his extremely square stance, cramped elbow and extreme backhand grip trying that shot.LOL. Waldner was one of the very few Europeans who could match Asian players in forehand to forehand rallies.
waldner was already a older player. you cant compare, but I'm pretty shure he would win fairly easy if he were in his younger playing ways..I do like Michael maze a lot tho...
He could change shots during on a rally, nobody else could make it, topspin, loopsing sidesping, fake topsping during a rally. How else make do it nowadays?

Even when Waldner loses he comprehensively outclasses his opponents

Great match for both. Thanks for sharing.
This vid is great - apart from the man drowning on the microphone 😂
So good dude
Waldner plays so smooth, he still wins with style 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I think Waldner threw like 20 topspins in the whole match... And it was still a close match... LOL... GOAT!

unfortunately waldner made quite many mistakes in this game
OH that backhand at 0:21 O_o
Sorry, no more such videos at the moment - Thanks for your comment!
Weird audio, great match
Nice audio btw...
like how u put the music at the end :)
legend vs genius
Oh great hands playing on that table!! Great Match. Do you have more videos from Waldner in this 40mm ball era?
In his prime, Waldner would have whiped the floor with him.
Clearly. Nobody stays in top form for 25 years
In his prime?Didn't he beat Maze and Crisan at the 2006 WTTC?He did beat them at 41 years of age.
it is a original 4:3 verson but now change to 16:9.
HHHaaaaaaaa ce joli bruit de colle rapide.
For fucks sake what's wrong with the audio

What is the effect (sidespin, underspin) on slow motion serve at 17.00mn ? Thanks
brahms008
Mostly sidespin, maybe a bit of backspin.

Still JOW is 10 times better :)
100 times better
I know it's Waldner, the Mozart of TT, but it's not very entertaining play. Almost no long rallies, and so much pushing. Todays game is a lot better.
punching or pushing ?
😂😂😂 this is the funniest thing I’ve read in a while. You’re joking, right?
Have you watched Calderano?Almost no long rallies, and so much backhand flicking.

That’s why Ma long is the goat not Waldner
