Yeah I agree with you. He was like a parent to his siblings I read somewhere and he was very generous even to strangers. He had a giant heart and very loving to all which rarely is seen especially in Hollywood! I did not know him or even a fan. Before death I knew who he was but as happens a lot of time we didn’t learn of his personality off screen. I never knew who Selena was before her death but we learned who she really was after death. She was so big hearted that a crazy fan got too close and shot and killed her! That woman should never be eligible for parole but that’s another story.

Ok this is the thing…River dried up of all the drugs because the director had him by him for six weeks in the mountain so Rivers system hit a reset. Then River came back to the city and did the same amount of cocaine as before plus the same heroin and his new clean body overdosed. It happens to people who stay clean a few weeks and then relapse and take as much as before. If River had paced himself he would be alive.

As someone who used to have a drug problem and never had many friends, it shows how clueless people are about drug users. River was a talented actor however his career was starting to slump and he wasn't in any really good movie's at the end of his life. People like to say that he had Interview with the vampire coming up but he was to have the tiniest part in that movie of being the interviewer, you know the role that Christian Slater ended up getting and even with River in the role was just going to be a bit part and forgettable. As someone who was a teenager during this time, remembering well when he died and even had the cover of people announcing it, I know better how things were back then than kids who weren't even alive. River was a good actor, River championed good causes but he had his demons and was prone to pushing boundaries and therefore got into drugs. Like anyone at 23 who wants to get high he could have seen one of his good friends OD or even die and because he was young think oh that'll never happen to me. You shouldn't blame any of River's friends or his family, you shouldn't even blame whoever gave him the speedball because ultimately nobody held a gun to his head and made him do anything, he done what he wanted and that night like several others in his life he just wanted to get high. I don't know if you kids think you could have prevented this by tying him up and yes maybe you might've delayed his death for a day, week or even a year but you can't fix people who don't want to be fixed.
