Ross Spiral Curriculum: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Science

In the Ross Learning System (RLS), primary and secondary students master scientific tools, methods, and theories. By integrating disciplines, they learn to see science and technology as fully engaged with human history and human culture, and to recognize both the perils and the promise of science to shape our society and our world.
RLS facilitates intensive science inquiry through “Innovation Lab @Ross” where students are motivated to pursue intensive advanced study in mathematics and the sciences combined with an entrepreneurial mindset that draws other disciplines into problem solving to address global concerns and inspire future solutions. RLS also provides “field academy” opportunities for direct research either locally or abroad. These immersive experiences encourage students to practice data analysis, ethical reflection, and instill a sense of personal responsibility, agency, and empowerment.
