Feds we have to keep rates up to avoid a recession….. middle-class families were paying $200 for four bags of groceries

I am not a financial genius, but I don't understand this market. The only thing the Fed is concerned about is the Market.
The Fed cuts interest rates, so it's cheaper to get a loan for Stock Speculators, while most consumers pay high interest rates. The most valuable car maker has yet to make a profit.
I used to think that I understood the market. In '65, LBJ cut the taxes on a new car, and car sales went up for '65.
In 2003, Bush borrowed money from China to give Americans $2,000. Americans went out and bought $2,000 flat screen TV from China. The USA economy was not stimulated.

Bold call. A 50 basis point cut would be an overt partisan move in favor of the incumbent party. If they are defeated you can be assured that the FOMC members will face significant retribution from the incoming administration.
Why would they choose to take such a risk

Rate cuts will spur on inflation.

@@WiseOwl_1408 Oh, and when the rates were at 3% did we have inflation? Nonsense.

They should increase rates by 50 basis points because the economy is booming. If they cut by 50 basis points, inflation will skyrocket.

Inflation's coming down, even with rate cuts. Inflation has been beaten, except for Shelter. CPI Shelter is a slow-moving glacier that lags movements in the market by a year or so. We've been seeing real-time rent inflation be very low (some indices even show deflation), and the June CPI reading looks like all that low real-time rent data is finally hitting CPI Shelter. Because CPI Shelter lags so much, all that time that real-time rent was low will *keep* lowering CPI Shelter for quite some time

@plasticpipeppe you’re wrong. The middle-class runs the USA trickle economy does not work.
