One thing I learned is that you really have to consider the vibe you are going for because there are so many awesome setups. For example I’ve learned that while they look clean, minimal is actually not what I wanted. Took me a while to figure that out. My current set up has a lot of plants and lights. Books on a shelf that sits atop my setup. My vibe is magical and cozy. As corny as that sounds. I achieve this with a mix of wood and plants, earth tones like green beige and even pink, and warm lighting.
Grovemade is pumping money into youtuber's pockets to shill their products. It's wild. I wonder how many viewers fall for the hype. If you want a desk shelf of similar quality, a local woodworker can pump one out for 1/3 of the price. Or you can order one off etsy for half the price of a grovemade.
Hey there! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I can totally relate to your clean desk setup goals. Have you considered using the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule? It's a compact and versatile cleaning tool that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities. With features like high vacuum power, washable filters, and efficient keyboard cleaning, it could be a great addition to your setup. Plus, it's portable and lightweight! Let me know if you need more info or any other recommendations.
If you're looking for a thick and soft desk pad that is comfortable for elbows / wrists, you may wanna have a look at Fusionstrike Original Limestone Desk Mat. Me and my friends have been using it for 3 years, so far it's been great so we made a whole batch of them. Ship within UK but could sort out international shipment too. The rubber is made from sustainable limestone rock (instead of oil/petrol) which makes it more environmentally friendly than most desk mats out there. It's laminated with super stretch smooth nylon so it's mouse compatible and very gentle to skin.
I use to work at HM for some contract work for a few years. So I have tried all the seats they have and desks. The Embody Chair is the best they have to sit on for long hours. I get why you like the Aeron Chair because it has breathable seating but that’s really the only benefit they have over the Embody Chair.
Hey there, {{3}}! It seems like you're into some nostalgic content. Have you ever considered upgrading your notebook setup? Hey Jim, I'm "hot-desking" in the office a lot. Though it never came to me, that I could use the same method at home. Unfortunately I cannot make use of the one-usb-c-cable to rule them all kinda thing. My personal laptop is so old, it doesn't take USB-C to charge. :D But I'll make sure this will be the case for the next one I buy.
Do you mind the scaling issues with the 4k monitor? I'm debating on getting a 1440 with thunderbolt or 4k with USB C. I'm leaning towards the 1440 but I also will be editing photos and videos. Thoughts?

Hello, thank you for the content. I wanted to know if you could explain two things: First, how would you use a teleprompter with this camera? And second, are there any difficulties in synchronizing the audio from your external microphone and the webcam when recording offline (some people say that if you are not on streaming mode you can have issues when sinking audio and video, which wastes a lot of editing time. Thank you in advance and regards.
Hey Jimmy, love the concept here. Definitely inspired to try out the hot-desking idea for my family. What do you think about using smart monitors instead? Like Samsung’s M8 or LG’s equivalent?
I've played with this idea so many times, too! Smart monitors are great. Turns your monitor into basically a TV with minimal effort, but you limit yourself to the software support the manufacturer provides and all the potential ads, and bugs too. I usually just use my own streaming devices like a chrome cast with google TV, or Apple TV, because if it's no longer getting updates, I can just get a new box. But that could add clutter and take up an hdmi/usb port on your monitor. So there's some trade-offs to both approaches!
@@godwin_njorogeompletely depends on the model you get as they are all different and some of them are extremely color accurate, look at the specs and you’ll find what you need!

Hey there! Based on your comment, it seems like you're looking for a chest of drawers recommendation. While I don't have specific info on what Jim is using, I can suggest considering the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule for your laptop desk setup. It's a powerful and versatile tool that can help keep your setup clean and spotless. Just thought I'd share my thoughts! Let me know if you have any other questions or need further assistance. They still use printers in offices? It's been a long time since I had a job that required me print anything. If a printer is really needed, it can be on its own little cart or cabinet. It can even be in another room. And everybody can share it. 😁
The setup would be better without the laptop. That's how bad laptops are. You get a slab that takes up desk space with a keyboard you won't use, and a monitor that aligns with nothing and is likely of a different resolution. There is definitely a product gap here. Laptop screens need to be detachable or laptops shouldn't need to be open for cooling. Those with that work hybrid would benefit from something of the form factor of a mac mini, there'll be screens at the office and other peripherals are cheap.
He show you a minimalistic desk. But the rest of his other desks is where ALL the other junk stuff is at. Lol…. No way people can keep their desk clean. My desk is clutter everywhere. l😂
Hi there Jim! 👋 What kind of monitor do you recommend for Mac's in general? I've heard that 2K 27" ones can lead to blurry text on Apple Silicone machines (Apple disabled API font support).
The best monitors to use with apple silicon Macs are sadly Apple's own displays (LG ultra fine 5K, Studio display, Display XDR etc. But sadly, most of those are so expensive. So I'd opt for a good 27in 4K monitor. Good 4K IPS monitors are getting cheaper than ever!
I'm using the ASUS 2K ProArt 27 with my Studio Max and haven't experienced blurry fonts at normal viewing distance. Naturally is isn't as sharp as 4K, but it has excellent color balance, the I/O that I need, a hell for stout stand, and was affordable.
Personally I use a 32" 4k 60hz IPS monitor. I actually have two, my main monitor is the Samsung M8 and my monitor for work from home is an LG 32UD89 that is a little older but is just as pleasing to work on. With the 32" size you do not need to worry about scaling. I prefer to use usb-c to display port solution as it also charges my laptop (1 cable solution). Remember that you do not need to spend more than 500 for a new monitor, just keep an eye on the deals (Amazon is coming up with their Prime days). MicroCenter has some deals too, or if you are in Canada keep an eye on Canada Computers - I got the M8 there for 500 CAD - I think it was a mistake.
I simply have to disagree with your take on Audio - saying that people don't care how good your voice is in meetings is not true. If so, what your saying or communicating has no value (no offense). I working in finance / tech, and the amount of comments and praise I get for rocking an XLR mic is crazy. It also means that people can always hear me clearly, and actually listen to what I say. There are way less misunderstandings or minor errors because my speech is clear, and people are way more on point. That being said, if you can afford to have people loose or misunderstand just 10/20% of what you communicate that's fine, but I preach that the $2-300 investment for a USB interface and a XLR mic, is such a minor thing to make sure that people understand you clearly. This is specially if you work in a international environment where you have different accents and levels of English proficiency.
Hey there! As a fellow tech enthusiast, I totally understand the value of having a clean desk setup. While I agree that audio quality is important for meetings, I recently came across the HOTO Compressed Air Capsule. It's a compact device that offers powerful vacuuming and blowing capabilities, perfect for keeping your desk spotless. It also has some other cool features like swift keyboard cleaning and efficient storage. It might be worth considering as an addition to your setup! What do you think?
I think his point is more that yes, there is a big difference between good and bad audio and the loss in value can be measurable. Don't go for bad audio. Never go for bad audio. However the difference between good and better audio? I agree with the video that it is indeed splitting hairs. Once the light is bright enough to blind you, it doesn't matter how much brighter it gets, you are already blinded
