NCL Cagney's Steakhouse Food & Review

- See what the food at Cagney's Steakhouse, a popular specialty restaurant on Norwegian Cruise Line ships, looked and tasted like! These were from our June 2022 cruise on the Norwegian Star, and from our experience, you should expect the same menu plus similar quality on other NCL cruise ships as well.
Note that even though Cagney's menu is à la carte, if you have the dining package, or if you are NCL Latitudes Platinum members, you can order any one starter, one soup or salad, one main entrée, as many sides as you want, and one dessert.
Cagney's food we ordered were:
* Jumbo Lump Crab Cake
* Black Tiger Shrimp Trio
* Lobster Bisque
* Porterhouse 20 oz certified Angus beef steak
* Grilled Fisherman's Platter (shrimp, scallops, calamari, branzino)
* Sides (truffle mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, sauteed garlic mushrooms, barley risotto)
* OMG Caramel Butterscotch Cheesecake
* Seven Layer Chocolate Cake

Sailed with NCL for the first time just this last October, and did Cagney’s one evening. It was definitely worth it. Aside from Cagney’s, I really liked how NCL does food. I plan on sailing with them again.
just did NCL Star. We ate at Cagney's and it was DELICIOUS. The waiter was so sweet. I had the lobster bisque and the crab cake. The steak was perfect. Then had the chocolate cake. But couldn't eat it all so took it back to the room.
That's great you enjoyed the steak, lobster bisque & crab cake! Yeah Cagney's is one of the best specialty restaurants at sea. We also thought the service was excellent too.

Everything looked wonderful. I love the menu and all the sauce choices. I love Bearnaise sauce and I always order it to go with my filet. We are boarding Odyssey of the Seas on Saturday and have a few nice dinners planned. I will definitely order a crème brûlée on board and think of Joanne when I break into the sugar crust. 🤣

How many entrees are you allowed to order each dining session?
Food looked wonderful. If I was on a cruise I would always have Onion Soup if it was offered. This one looked great. Nice video.

We ate at Cagneys's on the Joy just 2 weeks ago. I am ready to book another cruise just to eat there again.

I really liked Cagney's. I had the fisherman's platter on the Gem and it was amazing. Also the service is very good and fast. I would definitely dine at Cagney's again.

Hi Guys, we were on the Breakaway last year right before Christmas. I was hoping to have the same experience at Cagney's. Honestly they brought out the biggest Porter House in the room. Even though it looked like it was cotoled perfectly Medium Rare it was tough as Nails. Appetizers were good (Crabcakes and Shrimp Cocktail) Great Videos.

Im going on NCL again next month...just booked Cagney's I didn't realize we could order multiple desserts and sides...wow!

We will be on the Getaway in 25 days. We have one specialty dining for a 10 day cruise and I'm told that I really should book it as far in advance as possible. But I am also told that the buffet has specials and that O'Sheehan's has specials and no one will tell me what or when they are. So I have to book specialty dining in a vacuum.
We never book the specialty restaurants in advance- they can always squeeze you guys in no problem. So you might want to do that too and that way you can plan better once on board and find out when those specials are taking place.

Just finished a cruise on the Pearl. Cagney's Steakhouse was excellent. The prime rib and steaks were done perfectly.

I did the joy in April 2024. Cagney made my filet mignon blue and it was perfect. I don’t care for sides as it is filler, but the potatoes au gratin were worth it. By the time I got to dessert, I was stuffed.
I had the downside of some white trash guy talking down to the wait staff and managers asking them if they know what Americans like. Other than that, the food was great at Cagney as I went there twice. Oh, do try le bistro

Glad you had a wonderful dinner experienceI. I was at Cagney´s on the Norwegian Joy beginning of April: the food was terrible. The lobster bisque was watery, the steaks came less than lukewarm to the table.. the services was medeocre.. I even heard a waiter with a plate in her hand on the phone saying ¨..she send it back..she doesńt want it…¨ I could see from the table next to us that a guest also sent his food back… I really that that night it was just an unlucky coincident. The food at the main dining rooms was far more excellent…
Sorry to hear that! You'd think that they'd put more effort with the amount of money they're charging for Cagney's. But hopefully that was just an isolated incident, but glad to hear that you enjoyed the MDR food. Thanks for sharing your experience from the Joy!
I really like how NCL has deals that include some of the upgraded dining. Carnival should consider this. We just got off the MG and liked pretty much everything about it BUT they've definitely downgraded the sit down dining experience. They put ice cream and many sides in the little metal ketchup containers. They basically skimp. We really wish big chicken and Guy's had been open later. I came down with horrific flu two days after getting off, but I'm glad I felt good while I was on the cruise...

Yes that Baked Onion Soup was excellent- you can really taste the sweetness of the onion. It is pretty much a very high quality French Onion Soup- not sure why they just didn't call it that.

So I'm getting ready for my first cruise(on the Breakaway). Does my specialty dining package cover one appetizer, one soup or salad, one entree, and one dessert? The receipt you show at the end really makes me wonder how this all works.
It sure does cover what you described. If you want to order extra, then you'd have to pay the a la carte price for the item(s). Have an amazing first cruise!
The shrimp are not raw, they are just not over cooked and rubbery, just had some last month

Which ncl speciality restaurant did you enjoy the most?
We did enjoy Cagney's the most, though if you like French food, Le Bistro is a great choice, and same goes for Moderno Churrascaria if you prefer Brazilian BBQ.

What is your favorite cruise steakhouse?
They're actually all really good. We usually don't do too many specialty restaurants, but we've tried steakhouses on Royal, Carnival (a long time ago though), MSC, and of course NCL. You can't go wrong with any of them 😋
you did not tell that the crab meat is another $5 extra supplement just for that I checked menu

You left out the review for the truffle mashed potatoes.
If I remember correctly, you couldn't really taste the truffle. It was a pretty good mashed potato side, but nothing special.
Onion soup on the Bliss we took recently was way too salty…specially to Asian people taste

They do have it, but it's $25 extra

Please take a course in dining etiquette if you are going to film actual food consumption. It will make your videos better.
