I live in Mn, like you. I have never been a go-go person. I went to Chicago a few yrs back with my niece and sister. They wanted to go out to eat. I stayed in, ordered room service, and soaked in a tub. I only have a shower at home so soaking in a bath is what I like to do. My sister and niece came back, and my sister had a bad fall and spent all night in pain. They said they had wished they had just stayed like me. No one controls you. Live your life your way.
My husband and I always plan 2-3 nights to stay in and chill where we travel to. It’s a part of going on vacation for us and actually spending time together. Rushing out is not our thing either.
About eating in restaurants in Denmark (and in Europe in general) yes it is normal to take your time, sometimes a meal can take all night -or a cup of coffee can take hours -funny how even though Northern Europeans are very effective and very concerned about always being on time, we are also very chill and relaxed at the same time-glad you had a wonderful time
Your video made me emotional. I cried a little. I used to study in Denmark at RUC and as a foreigner it was hard since I was constantly worried about money. I left abruptly because of the covid. And now I'm thinking to go back as a tourist just to remember and to experience this slow life that I felt I didn't had, or maybe I didn't let myself to go into it. I'm very grateful for my time there. I discovered so many things about myself and met beautiful people. I can't wait to go back. And thanks for sharing your memories with us.
I just visited Copenhagen for the first time a few weeks ago. I fell in love with the easy; slower pace. The city was so clean and welcoming. The time there wasn’t nearly enough and I will be back in March, to welcome a new grandchild! Headed to your Paris vlog, that was our next stop on the trip. Loved seeing this through your eyes! There is a different perspective on what truly is important and I’m incorporating a bit of this lovely slowdown into my own life!
I spent my holiday in Denmark for a week. I also went to Aarhus for one day (which was too short in my opinion). I love the Danish people. They're so relaxed and friendly. I'd love to go back to Denmark.
You look so happy and relaxed. Beautiful travel vlog! My brother travelled to Denmark and stayed for a year...he loved it! I could actually FEEL the slower relaxed pace of the country through your vlog!
Denmark is amazing! I'm so glad you like it. I live in Aarhus, and it's so interesting to hear your, like, interpretation of our culture and traditions💛 I've never seen our weddings this way, because it's just how we're used to it, but from now on I will look differently on it and try to appreciate the slowness and appreciation of relationships more - and not just the weddings but in everyday life. Thank you!
I moved to Denmark over 25 years ago, I live out in the sticks as I'm a rural girl at heart. I love Copenhagen, but Aarhus is my favourite city - both have compact city centers and lots of character. It's always a bit strange to experience other's culture - I've got used to Danish parties - there are always lots of speeches and songs (don't forget the songs! They're usually very personal to the people being celebrated and typically written by guests, set to the music of a well known song). A wedding is a long event, and a lot of celebrations are, it's not uncommon for there to be a toastmaster, just to make sure that the speeches and songs don't mean the food gets cold! And then there's "natmad" which is usually a light dish served at the very end, marking that the festivities are over. As for Hygge, it's a state of mind, a feeling of well being. A Dane might call a home "hyggeligt", even if its furnished in modern minimalistic way (so about as far from cosy as you can get), and its down to feeling comfortable in the space. You can have a hyggeligt time with friends and family and again it's about feeling comfortable, relaxed and enjoying being in the moment.
I think what you mean in the end of the vlog is that in the USA people live to work, whereas in certain countries in Europe people work to live ☺️ to be able to enjoy life on an everyday basis! I’m glad you got to experience and enjoy Denmark! I live in Aarhus as an international and I adore it 😇
Szia!
Being someone who probably will never be able to afford to travel, I appreciated this vlog SO much.Thank you so much for bringing us along. My foster family was from Denmark and they were amazing.I spoke Danish as a child but forget it now (but recognize it if I hear it). You and Andy are such a beautiful couple.Much love to you both.
International travel might be surprisingly affordable. Actually, I'm a strong believer that vacationing in US is a lot of times more expensive than going abroad. You just need to pick a country where your dollar goes a long way. Best of luck! :)
I lived in Copenhagen for three years as a young newlywed. It really shaped my adult life and while the winters were miserable, the lifestyle is one I always enjoyed. I learned Danish and got quite fluent at it and really immersed myself in the experience. It was hard to come back to the U.S. but I didn't miss the winter! I have thought about going back but I know it's so different now, I don't know how I will feel about that. Glad you enjoyed it!
I used to go to Copenhagen every year (we have a vacation home in the south of Sweden, I'm from Switzerland) but haven't been since before the pandemic and you really made me miss being there so much, you really brought the vibes of the city across so well in this video and now I absolutely need to visit again when I'm in Sweden in the summer :) and you pronounced Aarhus perfectly ;)
We are enjoying your vlogs so very much ... your soft voice, your genuine enJOYment of all that you are showing us ... incredible spaces, the food looks delicious ... we are savouring every bite!! thank you ... for showing us places we will never get to visit ... lovely seeing through your thoughtful eyes... thank you both!!
I have lived in Copenhagen for 2 years and still keep coming back often now. It's the best city that I ever lived in my life. I wish I could stay forever
I was just in Copenhagen and Aarhus a few weeks ago. I'm going to share this video with friends to show them (especially the part around 13:22) Aarhus. Great video!
I had the pleasure of visiting Copenhagen and my God it’s the most wonderful place . People are friendly and very slow pace . My kind of place to make a move.
Aelin, you look gorgeous and flawless without makeup!! I'm not a fan of makeup on myself, and it's clear since I much prefer the no makeup look on you... you rock it! And thank you for taking us with you to Copenhagen, it's been on my list of places to visit! I always enjoy travel vlogs :)
That was the first thing I noticed too! You looked so fresh and happy and beautiful! I absolutely loved this vlog! It made me cry happy tears. I grew up in and absolutely love Europe and am going back to visit in the spring! 💗
I have been to a wedding in Denmark as well and the time spent together was the same. We loved all the speeches and food and conversation and some music with dancing. I loved it as well.
Please come! Vice versa, I’m a dane who’s been in love with Japan and my travels there. I feel like there are a lot of similarities between our countries, yet they’re still different. Love the shirt and glad you had a great time you deserve it after the difficult months you’ve had in the past, thanks for sharing I want to go to Denmark now 😀🙏
Denmark is definitely one if my favorite countries. And what you have described, I like a lot in Scandinavian countries. They have a different culture, in Germany we also really focus on carrier, working, being busy. The people do not really enjoy the moment. That's what I feel here - especially in the cities. There is so much around you can be influenced by. I really look forward to spend this winter in Norway! Thanks for that vlog, it was so nice (also the Paris blog) cause it really felt like being with you and not that you are just scripting a perfect city vlog. much love to both of you!

It's been wonderful travelling vicariously through some of my favourite RUclipsrs this past week! Sunday Dawn of The Helpful Home does a series called "Tiny Tidy Tuesday" and her last episode was recorded while on a glorious trip to Hawaii. I'm grateful to both of you for sharing your dreamy experiences!
Such a good job on filming and editing! Love your perspective on minimalism and relationships. Joshua Becker says minimalism helps us focus on the important things (and people) in life.
Hi first video I have ever watched form you and you have a really nice natural calm energy. Love how calming this video was and thank you for not being so self involved it is really nice to see.
Thank you sooo much for sharing this amazing trip✈️ to Copenhagen and Arhus🤍🤍 So beautiful places so hygge moments🤍🤍 I am wishing you more trips in the future wherever your heart 💞💞desires my loveliest 🥰🥰 The shirt is marvelous btw😻😻

Beautiful vlog, can’t wait to visit one day! Are you able to share your trip details in the description box like restaurants you tried, things you saw and the accommodation you stayed at? Thanks! :)
Such a great video and I'm glad you had such a nice time! We're thinking of visiting Copenhagen in the next few months, could you share a link to the apartment? It looks so perfect!

We're planning a trip to Copenhagen, and I just came across your beautiful Vlog. The apartment looks stunning, do you mind me asking what it's called? Or where it is? Thank you! :)
We stayed nearby the train station as we had to walk everywhere 😩. We were not satisfied with the cheap places to stay. Again it’s all about not using the buses as the trains were a lot for us. We are so westerners 😏
This was amazing and I enjoyed every second! I’m going a bit crazy trying to figure out the song, I just want to stay right here, keep everything the same right here! Can anyone tell me what it is? I love all of your music choices but I can’t get enough of that song!
Thank you for sharing! Don't think I'll ever make it to Copenhagen, Denmark but I'm so glad you shared this amazing place with everyone. It's now a dream trip added to my dream list. ❤
I’ll be in Copenhagen in 2 weeks! Do you remember the name of the first second hand shop you went to? It looked incredible 🤩 Also noted down Episode :))

@@tanjadalby2661 Your salaries are higher than in Sweden. The exchange rate is also unfavourable for Swedes. But on the whole, both Denmark and the other Nordic countries are expensive.
Those who live in countries with sky-high violent crime statistics and very little freedom of movement just gape in amazement (and melancholic envy) at the beauty and safety of a place/country like this.
I am Danish. The best explanation of hygge I have heard, is that it is a state of mind.

Sadly I don’t remember the name! But it’s in the same area as EPisode!
@@Simplify_light thanks! I’ll mark that down 💛
Great video... All the best.. Greetings from Århus :-)
Er det fortsatt kafé der Café Norden var? Syntes det stod "Hay" på vinduerne.

A very clean and elegant country. Is it v expensive?
Yes, it’s so expensive that even us Swedes can not afford to go there!
It depends on what is expensive for you. I live her and some things are expensive
